Theme: The Battle to Win

The enemy will not see you vanish into God’s company without an effort to reclaim you – C S Lewis

Our entire Christian life is warfare. Whoever tells you otherwise has sold you a Christianity that has no roots in Christ. The Bible tells us that even Jesus learnt obedience through the things He suffered (Hebrews 5:8). Jesus’ sufferings tell us that it was never an easy ride for Him either to attain redemption for us.

His sufferings, from the place of warfare is no different from ours the Spirit Vs the flesh, God’s will versus self will (Gal 5:16-17). Every day, like we do, Jesus made a choice on who to serve by our actions and inactions even if it brought Him suffering.

The more Jesus sought to do the Father’s will above His own, the more He suffered. He could only commit Himself to twelve men and not the crowd, He continued to allow the betrayer near Him. Jesus could have shown the tempter pepper but He resisted him instead. Jesus chose to become a slave to His Father’s will than to His own will.

ECHOES OF TRUTH

We are slaves to whomever we obey (Rom 6:16-18). Before salvation, we were slaves to our human nature, we followed the flesh, failing to please God. However, receiving Christ as Lord and personal Saviour signifies the beginning of a new journey in the Spirit. We are called to follow His steps. Hebrews 6:20 tells that Jesus is our Forerunner, we look up to Him as the Way to living in absolute submission to God’s will.

This change of camp, thirst to live in submission to the will of God, and staying aflame signals the beginning of battle. The battle comes in the form of weakness when it is time to pray, a wandering heart when praying, feeling drowsy when reading the Bible, an increase in the frequency of temptation to sin and struggling to do things that build up your spirit.

The enemy’s camp raises discouragement, instigates busyness, and any other  weapon that will keep us from pressing into God. When temptation increases, it may be a sign that God is doing something significant within us.The enemy only fights for what he fears losing.

We, like Jesus, must seek to be obedient to God’s will even when the battle over our lives are intense. Scripture assures us of this promise: The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one” (2 Thess 3:3). God has also assured us that He will always make a way out of our temptations. The battle against our soul will not be more than God knows we can bear ( Cor 10:13).

As you seek to keep your fire burning and build a deeper relationship with God, sister, expect clapback from the enemy. No matter the sufferings, inconveniences, that ensues, choose to remain rooted in God, look to Jesus as the Author and Finisher of faith, submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

You are strengthened sis. Remain in God. He is able to keep us till the end (Jude 1:24).

Let Us Pray:

Abba Father, I thank You for choosing me as Your own. Thank You for the gift of salvation and the Holy Spirit. I ask Lord, that You forgive me for being dependent on self. Help me to submit more and more as the enemy tries to discourage me. I will not give in or back down, Lord. Keep me strong. Let the enemy not have dominion over me. Thank You Jesus for I will not be lost, in Jesus name I pray. Amen
