Draw Nearer and He Will Draw Nearer

Echoes of Truth

Theme: Draw Nearer and He Will Draw Nearer

All things as they move toward God are beautiful, and they are ugly as they move away from Him – A W Tozer

Can you imagine how beautiful Eden was when God put Man in charge of the garden and the woman to support him. The Bible tells that every evening, they had a cool walk with God. Adam would have shared with God how his day went managing the Eden and how his wife served him a wonderful meal of fruit salad.

Probably Eve would have asked God how to better support Adam and his work. Possibly all three would have sat under a big mango tree, munching on some fruit that the Lord has made and the cool countenance of God’s glory causing them to behold Him and worship Him.

God would have also shared with them the plans He had for them, how they are in charge of the great heavenly plan that had led to their creation. God would have equally enjoyed and looked forward to their daily moments of fellowshipping.

ECHOES OF TRUTH

All things certainly were beautiful until the fall of Adam and Eve, when sin entered and distorted the intimate God-Man fellowship. Sin created that chasm that man could no longer draw near to God and God to man. The beauty of intimate fellowship was destroyed!

But Jesus came and made Himself the bridge over that abyss and man could draw nearer to God again. Jesus restored that relationship with God by making the way to save man from his sin (Matt 1:21). Jesus came to reconcile us back to God and make us into daughters who fit into God’s original plan for mankind.

Receiving Christ in your life is one of the best life decisions ever. It is  the beginning of a walk with God. However, the true beauty of our salvation in Christ is laid in the submission of ourselves to walking through that bridge daily to walk with God as Adam and Eve did in the garden of Eden.

The beauty of our lives is shown when we submit ourselves to the refining fire of God’s presence to cleanse us daily of the dross of sin as one receives chemotherapy to kill the cancer of sin in our lives. The more we go in for chemo in God’s presence, the more sin loses its power to turn our lives ugly. When we draw back from crossing that bridge daily against all odds, we never get to partake of the beauty of His holiness.

The beauty of God’s holiness revealed in and through us is by the submission to the workings of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Such a woman begins to produce the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Gal 5:22-23). The longer we abide in God as Jesus described in John 15, the more fruit we bear and the more beautiful our lives become. However, any decline or distance from God is the beginning of decline.

As fish needs to remain in water, so you need to remain in God to flourish sis, to burn! Without Him, you can do nothing (John 15:5). Do you want to keep your fire burning and produce much fruit this year? The way is to daily cross the bridge, Jesus, to enter into God’s presence through God’s word (2 Cor 3:18), being careful to do as He instructs and expressing our absolute dependence on Him through prayers (1 Thess 5:17).

Stay in God and watch the wonders He will do through your life.
