Theme: Game-Changing Attitude
By our attitude to prayer, we tell God that what was begun in the Spirit we can finish in the flesh. – Leonard Ravenhill

When Jesus taught His disciples the Lord’s prayer, from the beginning of the prayer to the end of the prayer, there is one thing that runs across all the points Jesus raised in the prayer- dependence. When we pray, we are telling the Lord we depend on Him and on Him alone.
Take the tax collector’s prayer versus the Pharisee’s in Luke 18:9-14. The Pharisee’s prayer was highly influenced by his own prowess at attaining spirituality. He considered that his walk and right standing before God certainly began and ended with him. For the tax collector, it was more of recognising that he had nothing within himself that could ever qualify him to attain spirituality.
The tax collector’s attitude is the definition of what Jesus called poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3). The tax collector’s ability to recognise that he needed a humble stance to appear before God. He needed to recognise that of his own prowess, he had no right to be right before God and nothing done by his ability could ever make him justified.
Such a man approached God and in just one sentence, he said the entire Lord’s prayer- ‘I need You, God!’. The reward of such a heart posture is the Kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven is of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17).
As women, if we take this attitude in the place of prayer, we can be certain that the Holy Spirit is at work in us and He alone can daily purge our spirit and renew our relationship with the Father.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a wave of tiredness and weariness in the place of prayer. The flesh resists prayer because it is the place where the flesh becomes weakened and the spirit becomes strengthened. Our attitude to prayer reveals our dependence on God or dependence on self.
To keep the fire burning sisters, we must pray without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17). It is that attitude that cries out continually, ‘I need You, Lord’ no matter the time, place, circumstances and every other thing in between. It is like a baby who spontaneously and very often within the hour, calling for the mother’s attention out of dependence.
Do not just talk to God, but wait to receive a response from Him. Without prayer, we are weak and defenseless. Ask the Holy Spirit for help and never think that anything is too small to raise to God in prayer.
Receive Grace sisters.

Let Us Pray:
Abba Father,I thank You for speaking to me today. Forgive me for all the times I have been dependent on self instead of You. I need You Lord, please help me for I am frail and unable to help myself. Help me to also wait and hear from You when I pray. Break the hold of pride and ignorance in me, in Jesus name I pray. Amen
