WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR: HEAVEN OR JESUS?

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR: HEAVEN OR JESUS?

Is it Heaven you are longing for… or the Lord of Heaven Himself?

Is your heart set on the streets of gold, the walls of jasper, the rewards and crowns… or on the One whose presence is Heaven?

Because dear sis, the truth is Heaven is Heaven because God is there. If you don’t know Him here, if you don’t love Him here, if you don’t choose Him here, why would you expect to live with Him forever?

Many talk about Heaven. Many sing about Heaven. Many even cry about Heaven. Yet they have made no preparation for Heaven, because they have made no preparation for Him. And that is the issue. The Bridegroom is coming for a bride, not for tourists, sis.

ECHOES OF TRUTH

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR: HEAVEN OR JESUS?

That was the problem with the five foolish virgins in Matthew 25. They had oil in their lamps, yes, but they had no extra. They had the gift of the Holy Spirit, but no intimacy with Him. They had the outward form, but no inward fire.

The extra oil is not a free gift. It costs you something. It is the oil that comes from relationship, from surrender, from koinonia, from a deep, daily fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

That’s why the wise virgins could not share their oil. You can’t give someone your secret place. You can’t transfer your history with God. You can’t hand over your discipline, your obedience, your groaning in prayer. This intimacy is not inherited, it is bought. Even Jesus told the Laodicean church in Revelation, “Buy from Me gold refined in the fire.”

The Lord is not coming for those who simply want to escape hellfire or secure a mansion. He is not returning for those who sing sweet songs about Heaven yet live as strangers to His voice. He is coming for those who love Him, who joyfully obey Him, who have become true sons and daughters, led daily by His Spirit, pruned by His Word, broken by His hand, revived by His presence.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR: HEAVEN OR JESUS?

So I ask you, dear sister, what are you really waiting for? Heaven… or the Lord? What do you truly seek? The rewards… or the intimacy? The crown… or the Bridegroom? Many of us have turned Heaven into a prize cabinet instead of a wedding home. We dream about the streets of gold, the mansions, the glory, the rest, but we have little desire for the One who makes it Heaven.

If your idea of Heaven is mainly freedom from pain, from tears, from labour, from the troubles of earth, then you are still seeking a place more than a Person. You have made the wedding feast about the food, not about the Groom. You long for the escape, but not for the Embrace.

But Heaven is where Jesus is. Without Him, the streets of gold would be empty and the mansions would be cold. Without Him, the music would be noise, the beauty would be hollow, and eternity would be lifeless. The question is, if Jesus were not there, would you still want to go? If the only reward was Him, would that be enough for you?

Because in truth, if you have no appetite for His presence now, you will not enjoy His presence forever. Heaven is not for those who want the place but reject the Person. It is for those who have learned to say, with all their hearts, “Whom have I in Heaven but You? And there is none on earth that I desire besides You” (Psalm 73:25).

Your relationships, with your husband, your friends, your coworkers, are they areas where you are representing Christ with humility and grace, or just burdens you hope to escape when you “get to Heaven”? Do you treat people as ministries you must steward in love, or as weights you must endure until the rapture?

Readiness is not in the lips; it is in the life. Those who are truly waiting for Jesus are daily buying oil in the secret place. They are gathering fire, grace, strength, and wisdom in prayer. They are trimming the trimmables, cutting away bitterness, lust, gossip, pride, and hidden disobedience. They are washing their garments in the Word. They are falling on the Rock so they will not be crushed by it.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR: HEAVEN OR JESUS?

When fights come, they overcome. When temptation knocks, they resist. They would rather lose everything than lose His presence. They would rather be wronged than keep malice. They resist sin to the shedding of blood. They have learned to fight back with tears, fasting, Scripture, and worship, with anything but compromise!!!

These can talk about Heaven because they are already living with Him! They are being led daily by the Spirit, chiseled into His likeness. Their flesh is dying, but their spirit is alive. They are already citizens of another country, already tasting the city to come. The world has lost its grip on them; they hunger only for the eternal.

They do priesthood in secret and walk in dominion in public. They have embraced the robe of righteousness, not just the crown of glory. They know what it means to be part of a royal priesthood.

Does your husband know you as a woman who belongs to the Lord? Do your neighbors see Christ in the way you live, speak, and love? Can your church honestly rejoice in the fragrance of your testimony, or do they only know your modest clothing, your loud loyalty to a denomination, your constant praise of a church leader, your polished outward appearance and your razor-sharp tongue?

If you live as you please, speak as you please, marry as you please, and make decisions without His leading, then you are not waiting for Him, you are only wishing for Heaven. But Heaven without Jesus is not Heaven at all.

Even Jesus did not just wander or wish into Heaven. He bore His cross daily (Luke 9:23). Hebrews says He “suffered being tempted” (Hebrews 2:18). He “offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death” (Hebrews 5:7). Oh my! That was God in human flesh, 100% God and 100% man, yet He never made a withdrawal from His divine privileges. He chose to live completely as a man.

He “resisted unto blood, striving against sin” (Hebrews 12:4). He lived as a man fully dependent on the Spirit (John 5:19; Luke 4:1), praying always (Luke 18:1), obeying always (John 8:29). He became our pattern (1 Peter 2:21) so we would have the power to live here on earth, follow His example, live as He lived, overcome our accuser, and finally make it into His home.

And what is His promise? “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne” (Revelation 3:21).

Do you see? He is not calling us to do what He Himself did not do. He overcame, fully, completely, without sin, and now He calls us into that same overcoming life. The reward is not just Heaven’s streets but Heaven’s seat, sis. To share in His authority, to reign with Him, to be forever in His presence. But the invitation is only to overcomers.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR: HEAVEN OR JESUS?

And the question is what are you overcoming right now? Are you only overcoming Physics and Chemistry, Biochemistry and doctorate degrees? Are you only overcoming debates, trophies, and beauty pageants? Are you only fighting to be top of your career ladder or to win arguments on social media?

Or are you overcoming sin? Are you overcoming pride, lust, bitterness, gossip, laziness, and the stubbornness of your own will?

Are you resisting the love of the world, the pull of vanity, the fear of man, and the subtle temptations that try to steal your purity and devotion

Are you overcoming the devil’s lies with the Word of God? Are you overcoming your flesh by the Spirit, day after day, until Christ is formed in you?

Because, dear sis, the overcomers Jesus promised to seat on His throne are not crowned for passing earthly tests but for passing Heaven’s tests. They are the ones who refused to bow to the idols of their generation, who loved not their lives unto death, who valued the smile of their Bridegroom more than the applause of men.

Heaven already has a Man who lived on this very earth and never sinned. And that Heaven has now made every spiritual resource available to us. The Holy Spirit. The blood of Jesus. The living Word. The fellowship of the Church. The armor of God. The throne of grace. The access. The gifts. The fruit. The promises. The power. Everything. We are without excuse. We are without excuse.

Heaven is not an escape haven. It is not for people who merely want relief from pain. It is not for people who are “trying their best.” It is not the reward for those who did religion well. It is the home of the holy. The resting place of the overcomers. Those who overcame the evil one by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony, and who loved not their lives even unto death.

HEAVEN OR CHRIST?

So dear sisters, what are you waiting for? Heaven… or Jesus?

Let us tremble. Let us return to the altar. Let us fall upon the Rock and be broken. Let us wash our garments in the Word. Let us trim our lamps and pay the price for extra oil. Let us make ourselves ready.

Because the Bridegroom is coming.

And He will not marry a stranger.
