Heaven Or Earth?

Heaven Or Earth?

Echoes of Truth

January 12th

Theme: Heaven Or Earth?

The more of heaven there is in our lives, the less of earth we shall covet. – Charles Spurgeon

The kind of fire that the Lord releases upon our altars is the kind that has come from Him, the Consuming fire. Hence, this fire upon our altar is holy and contains the Person of God that keeps us sanctified the more intentional we are about keeping it burning.

Another thing this fire does in us is that it draws us upwards towards God. It is a settlement of heaven upon our hearts, filling us with the longing of continual fellowship with Him, sustenance of His Presence in us.

Therefore, the more we fan this fire aflame, the more heavenly, God minded we shall become. The things of this earth begin to matter less. The Holy Spirit in us produces this longing for God in us and enables us to desire the continued reign of God in our lives which is the coming of His Kingdom, His government over us.

ECHOES OF TRUTH

The more of Him we seek the more of His will we will pray to be done over every aspect of our lives, the lives of others and our society at large.

The Holy Spirit then begins to work in us and produce heaven in our lives. We begin to grow in Christ and then our desire for things of the world begins to fade. Our desire for fame, popularity, materialism and human approval begins to wane, the Holy Spirit then begins to produce in us a thirst and hunger for righteousness.

No wonder we sing ‘there’s been a great change since I have been born again’

Jesus teaches us to lay up treasures in heaven and not on earth (Matthew 6:19-21). We lay treasures by falling in alignment with God through consistent, wholehearted, prompt, and complete obedience to His Lordship and government over our lives.

When we spend time in prayer, meditate on Scripture, and walk daily with God, our values slowly change. What once seemed important loses its grip, and what is eternal becomes precious.

Heaven in our lives means we live with a transformed heart (Rom 12:2) while on earth and begin to live by the template of Jesus not of men.

Let the Holy Spirit work through you to produce a love for God and heaven in you.

Let Us Pray:

Abba Father, I thank You for saving me and making me Your own. Thank You for Your fire upon my altar. I pray that You help me to continue to seek You. Let the Holy Spirit produce more of heaven in me. Shift my gaze from what is temporal to what is eternal. Thank You Father for You are able to keep me in You, in Jesus name I pray.  Amen
