Theme: Thank You Honours God
We Accept and thank God for what is given, not allowing the ‘not-given’ to spoil it- Elisabeth Elliot

Mariam looked at her older son and he always seemed to melt her heart with the manner and posture he always told her thank you even for the most insignificant thanks. The other day, she had gotten this very tasty cake from her boss’ birthday celebration party.
She had taken a share of the cake and found it to be a delight her son would love so she took two extra portions kept for her sons. When she got home and shared one portion in two equal halves, her younger son came first and seeing the equal portion of the cake, he began to whine about it not being fair.
The older boy took a fork and divided his portion into two equal halves and gave it to his brother who took off joyfully to enjoy it by himself. The older son tugged at her sleeves and said with a very bright smile, thank you mum for the cake.
She felt to reward him for his selflessness and gratitude so she gave him the other portion of the cake, bigger in size. He gave his mother a wider smile, a warmer hug, and a louder thank you. Seeing his brother’s bigger portion, the younger son could not say a word because he was wrong; he was in his mother’s silence.
When we find it difficult to say Thank You to our God, we only need to know that we are robbing ourselves of many great rewards. Our thanksgiving to God are cogent means of offering God the honour He deserves. Thanksgiving honors God not only because it acknowledges Him as the source of every good thing but also for acknowledging that we see His attentiveness to satisfying even the insignificant wants of our lives.
James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” When we give thanks, we recognize that nothing we have is truly ours by our strength. Our breath, our families, our salvation, our daily provision and the many blessings we receive so, we honour Him by saying thank You.
One of the most important prayers we can pray is the prayer of thanksgiving. The psalmist understood this deeply. In Psalm 9:1 he declares, “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Notice he says “with all my heart.” Thanksgiving is not meant to be mechanical or rushed; it is meant to flow from a heart that has reflected on the goodness of God.
In other seasons, thanksgiving should even be our only prayer. When words fail, when we do not know what to ask for, when we are overwhelmed, “thank You Jesus” is enough. It is a declaration of trust. It says, “Lord, I may not understand, but I trust Your heart.”
Psalm 92:1 says, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.” When Scripture calls something good, it means it is right, fitting, and pleasing to God. Giving thanks is not optional for believers; it is part of our calling. Gratitude aligns our hearts with heaven.
If the only prayer you ever say in your life is “thank You,” it will be enough because a thankful heart is a surrendered heart. A thankful heart sees God. A thankful heart trusts God. And a thankful heart brings pleasure to Him.
So today, and every day no matter what happens to you, sisters, honour God by saying Thank You to Him. Make it a habit of saying ‘thank You Jesus’ during the course of your day and get ready for a deeper relationship with God.
