Theme: Keeping The Fire Burning

Our souls are like an empty house, no furniture, no item. What we put into it then becomes what is used to define it and describe it. The body (flesh) and the spirit seek and contend for the opportunity to be in charge of the soul and determine how it is defined, what it is made up of. 

 

The moment our spirit man is lighted up by God’s fire and that fire is able to penetrate into the soul, such a life finds it easier to die to self daily.

 

Such a life is able to resist every temptation as it comes because the soul is under the surveillance of the Holy Spirit who controls the spirit in such a man.

 

Following the steps of Jesus becomes a whole lot easier because it is easier to think like Christ, react like Christ, talk like Christ, act like Christ. Jesus finds room to express Himself through such a life by the power of the Holy Spirit. 

 

However, the slightest opportunity that is granted to the flesh to gain control of the soul kills the fire of God that has been illuminating that life.

 

That is why we must give no room for the flesh to satisfy its desires (Romans 13:14)!  The only way is by presenting the flesh for daily death on the altar and,  choosing to live according to God’s will above self-will. 

 

After receiving the fire of God and being daily transformed into the image of Jesus, the Bible tell us that ‘we are not to conform ourselves to the former lusts, as in our ignorance.'(1 Peter 1:14).

 

Conforming to former lusts is going back to the things we used to do before we got ignited by the Holy Spirit.

 

What habits did you let go of to grow spiritually? Why are you contemplating going back to them?

 

The Bible says we should not rebuild the things that the Lord has taken down. The best way to keep being on fire is to remain as close to the source of the fire as possible.

 

Now that you are born again, stay with the Lord.

 

Now that you are ignited for the Lord, remain with Him. After Activate, don’t go back to sleeping all night.

 

Now that you are overcoming addictions, go closer to the Father.

 

Keep the fire burning.

 

The only sure guarantee of safety is to remain with Him. Imagine what happens to the sheep as soon as it wanders away from the shepherd, it becomes vulnerable to every and all attacks that may come.

 

Remain with your Father, refuse to allow yourself to get distracted.

Let Us Pray:

Lord, I thank You for igniting me in You. Now that You have ignited me, help me to stay in You. Let the world not take me away from You. Tie me to You, oh Lord. Never to leave You. Thank You for You are able to keep me in You, in Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
