Woman, Find Your Identity in the Scriptures!

ECHOES OF TRUTH

Woman, Find Your Identity in the Scriptures!

If the egg of an eagle were incubated by a hen along with her own six eggs, all the eggs would hatch together. The mother hen would lead all seven chicks to scratch the ground in search of their daily meal.

The eaglet would grow behaving like a chicken, thinking like a chicken, eating the same food as the chickens.

If only it knew how different it truly was.

Many women, even after receiving new life in Christ, are still being raised by the mother hen of this world.

Cultural systems teach women how they should think. Governmental policies push them in certain directions. Intellectual training shapes their ideologies. Fashion, economics, and social expectations quietly define how they believe their lives should look. Movies too, in fact this is one big influencer in a place like Nigeria.

All of these influences slowly suppress the reborn woman in Christ. They keep her from recognizing that she has been given an identity that frees her from the mold of this world and calls her into the image of Christ.

If only the woman in Christ understood that she was created to soar like the king of birds, rising above the storms and reaching the heights for which she was designed.

The Scriptures Have Already Defined You, Woman!

Where then should a woman discover who she truly is?

What better place than the pages of the Scriptures!!!

What better way to step into our true identity than by living in obedience to the Word of the One who created woman?

The real issue many sisters have is often not access to the Bible. In fact, some have different types of study materials but no time, no consistency. No hunger. No fire

Sitting with the Scriptures long enough for them to shape the mind and heart requires deliberate devotion, sis!

Ironically, the very forces we are meant to resist often become the forces that keep us from the Word.

Cultural expectations pull us away from being renewed so we begin to be conformed to the ways of this world, even though the Scriptures warns against that, instructing that we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2).

Let me show you how this passage reads in JB Phillips translation:

With eyes wide open to the mercies of God, I beg you, my brothers, as an act of intelligent worship, to give him your bodies, as a living sacrifice, consecrated to him and acceptable by him. Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all his demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity.

Did you see that?

The world has its own mould.

It has a shape it wants to press us into. It has a pattern it wants us to follow.

It tells us how women should think.
How women should live.
How marriage should look.
What ambition should mean.
What success should be.

The world has a ready-made template.

It says a woman must prove her independence.
It says motherhood must be postponed.
It says the home is small and the public stage is great.
It says a woman must rise, compete, dominate, and stand equal in every space.

And slowly, without even realizing it, women begin to feel that if they do not fit that mould, something must be wrong with them.

But the Scriptures say do not allow the world to squeeze you into its mould.

God has His own design.

Oh yes! God has His own design!

And His design is not discovered through cultural trends, government policies, academic theories, or social applause.

It is discovered in His Word.

When the Word begins to renew the mind, a woman starts to see things differently.

What the world calls small, she begins to see as powerful.
What the world calls limitation, she begins to see as purpose.
What the world calls weakness, she begins to see as divine design.

And that is when the eaglet begins to realize it was never meant to scratch the ground with chickens.

It was created to soar.

Societal slogans such as “a woman can be more” for instance, sis, have become weights that hinder us from stepping into the clarity of God’s design (Hebrews 12:1).

Political, social, and academic ideologies wrap themselves around our minds and begin to dictate what a woman’s ambitions, goals, and aspirations should look like.

Nothing is ever enough. There is always another ladder to climb, another milestone to reach.

But without godliness, contentment disappears. The Scriptures say that godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6).

Don’t Wait for Your Church or Pastors, Sit with the Scriptures!

Sadly, the Church is not helping these days. The great falling away has already started and our churches are sleeping! (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3)

In many places today, the Church has adopted the language of the world. Instead of pointing women clearly to Scripture, it promotes endless empowerment programs that often have little grounding in the Word of God. So, instead of women gaining clarity, confusion increases.

The Church rarely highlights the beautiful calling given to women to nurture, sustain, and shape life as wives, mothers, and sisters in Christ.

Biblical theology is not fashionable, and so it is often ignored.

In some places, when a woman has several children, people in the church even begin to question her wisdom. She is asked whether she has lost her mind. Economic arguments are raised. Cultural assumptions appear. The idea quietly spreads that children diminish a woman’s worth or make her less desirable.

But these are not the measurements of Scripture.

And so a difficult truth must be faced.

If we wait for the pulpit alone to define our identity as women, many of us may reach the end of our lives without ever discovering it.

Woman, Find Your Identity in the Scriptures!

So what then should a woman do?

She must go to the Scriptures for herself, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth contained within them.

The Bible contains beautiful realities about womanhood that remain hidden until we search for them with devotion.

The Psalmist prayed, “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law” (Psalm 119:18).

Until we approach the Word this way, our eyes remain closed to the beauty of God’s design.

Think again about the eaglet.

Until the little eagle begins to look toward the sky and notice birds soaring high above the clouds, it will never realize that it was made for flight.

Until it studies its own frame and compares it to the chicks scratching the ground beside it, it will never recognize its stronger wings, sharper sight, and greater capacity.

The same is true for the Christian woman.

Until she looks at herself through the lens of Scripture, she may never see the vanity in her heart, the lies she has believed, the strengths she has dismissed as weaknesses, or the weaknesses she has celebrated as strength.

The Word of God exposes these things.

The Scriptures say, “I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts” (Psalm 119:45).

True freedom comes from the Word of God. What the world calls liberation often leads to deeper bondage.

So today can be a day of real freedom.

Rounding Off

Oh, my woman, what is shaping your mind every day?

Who is discipling your thoughts?

Is it counsellors who do not know God?
Is it pastors who water down the Scriptures to make them more acceptable to the times?
Is it social media influencers who speak confidently but have never sat under the authority of God’s Word?

Woman, every day something is forming your mind. Every day, something is quietly shaping how you think about life, marriage, motherhood, success, and life.

Ideas do not enter the mind without consequences!!! They begin to shape desires. Desires begin to shape decisions. Decisions begin to shape destiny.

So the real question is not whether your mind is being shaped.

The question is by whom.

Is it the voice of culture?
Is it the voice of ambition?
Is it the voice of a world that does not know God?

Or is it the voice of the Scriptures?

Woman, wake up.

Be serious about transformation.

The Scriptures say we are transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). But transformation does not happen casually. It does not happen through occasional reading of the Scriptures or scattered attention.

It happens when the Word of God becomes the place where the mind returns again and again.

Sit with the Word.

Read it slowly. Think about it deeply. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to what He has written.

Let the Word correct your thinking. Let it expose the lies you have believed. Let it rebuild the way you see yourself as a woman.

Because the world is working tirelessly to press you into its mould.

If you do not deliberately submit your mind to the Word of God, the world will gladly shape it for you.
