Echoes of Truth

Theme: Keeping The Fire Burning
“My goal is GOD HIMSELF. Not joy, not peace, not even blessing but HIMSELF…my GOD.”- Leonard Ravenhill

‘One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple’. Psalm 27:4
The Psalmist said his own desire was to be in God’s house and presence.
The Bible is also filled with stories of people who sought God and found Him as well as the people who sought things and could not let go of what they had. Until we let go of the culture that seeks what God can do for man and embrace that which seeks to see God’s face, we will be no different from the children of Israel.
They trembled at the thought of God meeting with them directly. They ran away from the weight of His presence before the Tent of Meeting. They were fine as long as there was steady manna, quails, and water. No torn clothes, no worn out sandals. No sicknesses, no travails.
But one man defied this. He was not content with just that. Instead, he, Moses, got so bold and said, forget food, I am even going to go forty days without manna, just let me see You. No man had ever been bold to make such a request before. Moses did and that satisfied him.
What satisfies you? Why do you seek the Lord?
The reason for your search after God determines a lot. If your true desire is God Himself, you will seek Him even with or without blessings becuase you have come to realise He is the blessing.
The starting point is to set our hearts on heavenly things, not earthly ones (Col 3:2). Remember the rich young ruler who wanted to follow Jesus but was unwilling to let go of his wealth? (Luke 18:18-23) If he had taken up Jesus’ offer He would have experienced God, first hand.
In the search for only God, nothing should be too small or too big to let go to find God. Be ready to deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow Him (Luke 9:23).
Seek God in pleasant and not-so-pleasant situations. Determine to keep seeking the Lord and His righteousness no matter what happens (Matt 6:33). Remember the Lord is not a liar. You will find God.

Let Us Pray:
Abba Father, set my heart to seek You and not what I can get from You. Help me to always hunger and thirst for Your presence. Save me from the distractions of this world. I desire You with all my heart. My heart will not wander away from you. Thank You my Father, In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
