Love Came Down.

Love Came Down.

Echoes of Truth

February 22nd

Theme: True Love Revealed

The Gospel is the greatest demonstration of the love of God ever revealed  Paul Washer

Let’s start by considering the gospel in its earth-shaking reality, not just as a church vocabulary. The word itself simply means good news. Not suggestion for better living. Not motivational speech. News. And not just any news. It is the announcement that God has done a divine action.

Biblically, the gospel is this: that though humanity rebelled and chose independence over intimacy, God did not abandon His creation. Instead, He entered the world of His creations. “Christ died for our sins… He was buried… He was raised on the third day” (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).

That is the core of the gospel. God did not send a message alone; He sent His Son as the message.

ECHOES OF TRUTH

The One offended absorbs the offense.
The Judge steps down from the bench and takes the sentence.
The Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep (John 10:11).

If love is measured by what it costs, Sis, then the gospel stands unmatched.

Look at the thief on the cross (Luke 23:39–43). A man with no time to repair his record, nor even a future to prove the sincerity of his emergency confession. Yet in his final breaths, he turns toward Jesus. And what does he receive? A promise. Christ assured him that “Today you will be with Me in paradise.” Oh, what a love so costly! Extending mercy at the edge of death.

Even after Christ had resurrected, He took interest in the likes of Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9). The zealous man who went about breathing threats, hunting believers, was very certain he was serving God while opposing Him. Right in the middle of embarking on one of his believer-hunting journeys, Christ met him with his transformative power. A persecutor instantly becomes an apostle. That is the gospel demonstrating love powerful enough to interrupt violence and rewrite identity.

Romans 5:8 says, “God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The Bible didn’t say God waited for us to improve first. While we were still sinners.

That is the beauty of the gospel.

And today, the gospel continues to demonstrate love every time a hardened heart softens. Every time a man or woman who believed they were too far gone discovers they are not. Every time forgiveness replaces a bitter heart. Every time hope rises where despair has once ruled.

The gospel stands as history’s loudest declaration that God’s love is poured out. It is the ongoing evidence that we are loved beyond reason.

And here is the weight of it.

If this is the greatest demonstration of love ever revealed, then we cannot afford to reduce it to background noise in our lives. The gospel is the very foundation beneath our feet. It is the only way we can wade through the darts of hate that the devil is firing at every one of God’s creatures.

It tells you that the more sinful you thought you were, the more loved than you ever imagined, and that is why it is the greatest demonstration of the love of God ever revealed.

Will you plunge into this divine demonstration of love today? Or otherwise, extend this good news of love to someone today.

Let Us Pray:

Father, thank You for the gospel. For the love that did not remain in heaven but came down to meet me. Forgive me for every time I have treated this good news as common. Let the weight of the cross and the power of the resurrection settle deeply into my heart. Teach me to live as one who is truly loved and transformed by mercy. May the reality of Your demonstrated love shape how I see You, how I see myself, and how I love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
