THEME: LORD, FOR HEAVEN!

TEXT: LUKE 16:19-31

BIBLE STUDY: REVELATIONS 2

Hello Sisters,

Welcome to Day 28! 

How has the pressing been going?

I assure you that as you keep on pressing, the answers are here already. 

Remember, faith is not a feeling. You might not feel it, but your prayers are touching heaven and your desires are being granted in Jesus name, Amen!

Today, we will be touching on something very important. 

I sincerely do not think I need to stress on how important this is, but I will. 

We would be going on a journey together to see how important this topic is and we would see this with a new perspective.

The prayers today will not only touch your heart, it will transform your mind and life in Jesus name. Amen!

I want to also encourage you to make sure you take out time to read and soak in the bible verses that come along with today’s bulletin. 

May your spiritual eyes be opened as you read in Jesus name. Amen!

Before we go through, can we say a word of prayer:

Father, we thank you for thus far you have aided us in the prayers these past days, we are here to consider an important topic. Give us illumination into Your Word. Speak to us in new ways more than we can imagine. Open our hearts to understand and our minds to see the things that you want us to see today in Jesus name. Amen!

Beyond all of the words we have uttered, let our hearts be opened towards and year for Heaven henceforth and let your name be glorified, in Jesus name we have prayed, Amen!”

A few days ago at church, my pastor asked the congregation a question. 

‘What is your primary purpose for following Jesus?’

One said ‘For blessings’

Pastor said ‘Ok. What kinds of blessings’

They started to mention ‘Healing’, ‘Miracles’ and so on. 

It really broke my heart to see that, really. 

No one said that they were following Christ to have an intimate relationship with Him first and foremost and to make it to Heaven in the end. 

It felt to me that these ones were only trying to use God as a means to their end and not the end in itself. 

But let’s leave these people and come to ourselves. 

Sis, why are you following Jesus? 

From the depth of your heart, why?

Think about it. 

Is it because your parents are? 

Or because it feels okay to? 

Or because you need something from Him?

Why are you following Christ?

It is important that Jesus and Heaven be our ONLY reason for seeking God! 

Every other reason has to be a plus. 

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God!

Seek ye first, Heaven! 

Forget about everything. 

As you seek His Kingdom, He’d add everything! 

So, do you seek Heaven?

Do you pray for Heaven? 

Do you daily live with Heaven in view? 

This will change your attitude toward everything! 

You won’t hold on to yourself the way the world tells you to. 

You won’t have time for malice and bitterness and spiting the people who hate you on your social media. 

You won’t love fighting, insulting, disrespecting and dishonouring others. 

You won’t treat your husband and children any lower than the Lord instructs you to. 

You won’t love the world nor the things in the world!

Now, this isn’t something to just do with your head. 

Christ needs to become real in your life. 

And this can only happen by revelation. 

Paul cried: That I may know Him! 

Let’s see how the GNT translation puts Ephesians 3:10-11:

10. All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death, 

11. in the hope that I myself will be raised from death to life.

That was an apostle that already had a revelation of God. Still yearning for more. Still, pray for more! 

See sisters, there’s more to God than you know right now! 

The more of Himself God reveals to you, the deeper in Him you go! 

Without revelation, you’d just be following Him superficially. 

Matthew 16:13-20 says:

13 Jesus went to the territory near the town of Caesarea Philippi, where he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

14 “Some say John the Baptist,” they answered. “Others say Elijah, while others say Jeremiah or some other prophet.”

15 “What about you?” he asked them. “Who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 “Good for you, Simon son of John!” answered Jesus. “For this truth did not come to you from any human being, but it was given to you directly by my Father in heaven.

18 And so I tell you, Peter: you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it.

19 I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

20 Then Jesus ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.

Can you see? 

The very disciples of Christ were following Him without really knowing who He was. 

Jeremiah? 

Elijah? 

John the Baptist? 

Those were their guesses! 

Okay, who do you all think I am? 

Peter by Divine revelation gave the correct answer!

You might have thought he just said something simple but he gave a revelation on which the Church of Christ was built! 

What is your knowledge of Christ? 

Have you experienced Him personally? 

If you haven’t, you cannot love Him talk less of His Heaven! 

Who you haven’t met, you can’t fall in love with! 

Who you only meet once a year, you can’t fall in love with. 

It has to be an everyday meeting, communication, living and interaction that binds you both together with love cords. 

The same thing with Christ! 

If you don’t hunger for Heaven, understand that you have a problem with your knowledge of Christ!

Did you see why hunger is important?

It keeps you in check! 

It puts everything in perspective!

This is why if you have no hunger, desire, longing for Jesus, you need to go down, fall on your face and cry for it. 

And if you have but it’s dying or dead, cry them back to life!!!

And if you are burning, ask for more!!!!!!

LUKE 16:19-31 is our main text for today. It reads:

19 “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. 

20 And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 

21 who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. 

22 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, 

23 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 

24 And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ 

25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 

26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ 

27 And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house— 

28 for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 

29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 

30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 

31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’ ”

May the Lord bless His Word in our hearts. Amen.

What would I love you to note from this story?

THIS IS A TRUE STORY: 

When Jesus is sharing a parable, He makes it clear but for this, He said ‘There was’. This reveals the realness of this account. And invariably, the realness of HEAVEN and HELL!

HELL IS REAL. IT EXISTS! 

Revelation 21:8 ESV says:.

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death

Do you know what a lake is? 

A pool of water. Like a large swimming pool. But then, it won’t be of water but of fire and sulphur. 

I looked at the effect of Sulphur on fire online and see what I found:

Sulfur is highly flammable. It has a low ignition temperature. When a bulk quantity of sulfur is burnt, it may lead to secondary fires due to the evolution of gas from the molten sulfur. They sometimes lead to explosions also. It is also highly flammable in nature.

Imagine that!

The swimming pool of sulphuric fire!!!!

Revelation 20:10 also says: And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

See again? 

The ‘Forever and ever’?????

Oh my! 

And God’s Word speaks no vain words! 

Matthew 10:28 also says: 

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell

So, I am showing you these verses so you can know that even though your church might be silent about this crucial part of the Scriptures, it is a reality! It will happen! 

But the next point is:

HEAVEN IS REAL. IT EXISTS

So, we can rejoice and make a wonderful choice to ensure we make it!

2 Peter 3:9 says: The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

It is not God’s Will for you to perish! It is His will that you should come to repentance and make Heaven- with Him!

John 14:2 says: 

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

God’s gone to prepare a place for me! 

And you! 

Oh, sisters, oh!

How great! 

Oh, let’s make this Heaven! 

Revelation 22:3 says: 

No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.

No curses in heaven. 

No temptation

No more pains

No more tears

No more attacks and evils

We will be with Jesus and worship Him forever! 

Matthew 25:34 says:

Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.”

Oh my!!!!!

Sisters, let’s make this Heaven!

Let’s make it home!

He’s provided inheritances for us!

The Heaven our God has prepared for you and I since the creation of the earth!!!!

1 Peter 1:4 says:

To an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.

Ah, sisters, God has something kept in Heaven for us!

It is imperishable!

It is undefiled!

It is unfading!

Revelation 7:9-10 says:

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

Sisters, let’s make this Heaven!!!

Let’s send the spirit of Hell out of our lives!

Let’s forsake the things that are earthly and begin to chase the things that are eternal. 

If this becomes our goal, even all our decisions will be shaped by our desire to make it home. 

The person we’d marry. 

How we live with the person we are married to. 

The ambitions we have for our individual lives. 

Our goals for our children. 

The friends we keep. 

The church we attend. 

The music we listen to. 

Our physical appearance, dressing, hairstyles etc. 

The way we live. 

Everything will be transformed!

Living with eternity in view changes our taste, appetites, longings, ambitions and all. 

We are in this world but we are not of this world!!!!

Philippians 3:20-21 says:

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Oh my!!

What a glory!

What a hope!

What an assurance!

2 Corinthians 5:1 says:

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

Sisters, what a privilege to have a home built for us by God Himself!!!!

And did you notice Paul called this flesh ‘tents’?

Because it is temporal!

We will leave it behind and go!

Paul has left his tent and has gone!

Some people close to us have left their tents and have gone. 

Whether to life eternal or eternal damnation!!

Nothing should be too precious to make us miss this eternal abode!

Mark 9:43 says:

And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire.

Unquenchable!!!!

Nothing in your SELF should stop you from getting in!

If nothing out of your personal body should be an encumbrance, is it something outside of it that should allow you????

See a few other points from that story:

• Just a drop of water would be a luxury in Hell. He asked for Lazarus to come and drop 

• Our senses would still be intact in Heaven and Earth.

• None of our earthly possessions would matter in Heaven. 

• In Heaven, our bodies are changed into glory. In hell, the bodies also become immortal but would feel all darkness, pains, and torments. 

• There is a strong gulf between Heaven and Hell. It is not possible for you to cross over to either side. 

• The rapture will happen for everyone. Either Jesus comes and takes us or we go and meet him (in death) 

• We shall all die no matter how social status! Lazarus died, and the rich man died!

• All the important positions we hold do not matter in Heaven! The rich man was even trying to boss Lazarus about. Tell him to come give me water. Tell him to go warn my people. Alas, rich man, you can’t be a boss in hell over people in Heaven!

• Hell is not a place where we’d love our loved ones to be. 

• If the world of God cannot change you, nothing can change you! Not even prophets or something supernatural. The Word of God is enough! His Law brings forth repentance.  There are no special cases and no exceptions.  Our sin and need for a Saviour is exposed within the pages of God’s Word and nowhere else. No miracle or sign will ever convince us we’re sinners in need of a Saviour like the Scriptures!

To judgment before the white throne.

And swore with his hand rais’d to heaven,

As the lost were told of their fate;

They cried for the rocks and the mountains,

They pray’d, but their pray’r was too late.

2 The rich man was there, but his money

Had melted and vanished away;

A pauper he stood in the judgment,

His debts were too heavy to pay.

The great man was there, but his greatness

When death came was left far behind;

The angel that opened the records,

Not a trace of his greatness could find. [Chorus]

3 The widow was there and the orphans,

God heard and remembered their cries;

No sorrow in heaven forever,

God wiped all the tears from their eyes.

The gambler was there and the drunkard,

And the man who had sold them the drink,

With people who gave him the license–

Together in hell they did sink. [Chorus]

4 The moral man came to judgment,

But self-righteous rags would not do;

The men who had crucified Jesus

Had passed off as moral men too.

The souls that had put off salvation–

“Not to-night; I’ll get saved by and by;

No time now to think of religion!”

At last they had found time to die. [Chorus]

NOW SHALL WE PRAY?

Maybe you have been saved before and have lost it, or maybe you have never been saved, can you go before the Lord right now and say Lord I’m sorry.

The prayer we are making is a prayer to enter the kingdom of God, my dear sisters. Please don’t take it lightly. The Lord is hearing because He knows you do not desire to miss his kingdom.

Ask the Lord to forgive you of all of your sins, mention them right now and then Believe he is able to forgive, Believe he is not only able but that he has forgiven, and he has released upon you “the power to become a son of God”, Amen.

For everyone who has now been saved, can we ask the Lord that he will make us ready for that final salvation, Acts chapter 4 verse 12 tells us that there is no salvation in any other. It is only Jesus that can give us the final salvation. Say the following prayers:

Father, have mercy on me and show me your salvation!

Lord Jesus, any character, attitude, action of mine that has driven your salvation from me, forgive me and deliver me in Jesus name. Amen

Oh Lord, save me!

Jesus, it’s only in your name that salvation can be found, save me in Jesus name. Amen

Prepare me for that final salvation!

Search me oh God, anything remaining in me that will make me miss that final Salvation, remove it in Jesus name, Amen

Cleanse me oh God!

Deliver me oh God!

Purge me oh God!

Have mercy on me Jesus!

Prepare me for Heaven, Jesus!

NEXT

In Hebrews 12:14 “Follow peace with all men and Holiness without which no man shall see the Lord” 

We are going to be praying for the peace part first. If there is anyone you haven’t followed peace with, take a moment to cast your mind right now. 

Pause these prayers, if you can reach them and settle with them, do that immediately, otherwise find an opportunity TODAY to meet with them and settle the issues that you have.

We will obey the word of God to the latter in Jesus name. Amen

Shall we pray?

Oh Lord, give me the grace to follow peace with all men

Make me like Jesus, always willing and ready to forgive.

Help me not to hold a grudge against anyone.

Give me a heart like Jesus, Lord, give me a heart like Jesus.

Anyone that I have held in my heart as a result of the wrong they did to me, I forgive them, I let go of the hurt by your grace, in Jesus’ name.

Help me to follow peace with my neighbors, my friends, my family members, my husband, my colleagues, and my boss in Jesus name.

Lord Jesus, offenses are inevitable, give me a heart that is sensitive and willing to make amends.

Make my conscience alive to your voice of caution.

Make my heart humble to let things go even though I’m in the right.

Make me humble to take and make corrections in Jesus name

I have no power of my own, give me the grace to follow peace.

Strengthen me Jesus to follow peace

Strengthen my heart

Strength my mind

Strengthen my resolve

Release your Grace

Release your heart

Release your Love

In Jesus name I pray

Amen!

Shall we turn this song into prayer?

The words of these songs are enough for a prayer session for a day. 

Ask the Lord to make you holy!

Without Holiness, no man shall see the Lord!

Take time to be holy sisters

Take time to pray holiness into your heart and lives because you must not miss heaven in Jesus name.

Here are a few prayer points to guide your prayer: 

Oh Lord, you have called me to holiness, make me holy today in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. 

Lord Jesus, you would ask of me what you know I cannot be, Lord Jesus make me and keep me holy.

Lord, you said after I have been saved from sin and become a slave to righteousness, the fruits I begin to bear is one of sanctification. Oh Lord, help me to bear fruits of holiness in Jesus name.

Lord Jesus, you suffered for my sin so I can become righteous, you did for my holiness too. Today, I pray that you will finish the work you have started. Make me holy! 

Oh Lord according to your word in Colossians 1:21, 22 that says “And you, that were sometimes alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight’

Lord make me holy today, make me unblameable, make me unreproveable, make me perfect even by Christ’s death on the cross in Jesus name.

Lord Jesus, I present my body, my hands, my mouth, my legs, my eyes, my mind, myself as a slave to righteousness today and everyday of my life, sanctify me, make them holy in the name of Jesus

Lord, my holiness is your will and desire. Father, bring that desire to pass and make me holy in Jesus name.

Father, I’m taking time to be holy. I’m pursuing righteousness, godliness, please grant my desire in Jesus name.

Lord, from today I declare my body holy, I declare every part of myself dedicated to the Lord and his holiness. My eyes are not for Satan, my mind does not think of things that do not make for holiness in Jesus name.

I am consecrated to the Lord.

Whatsoever things are true I think about them,

Whatsoever things are honest, I speak and think about them

Whatsoever are just, you will find me there

Whatsoever things are pure, that is my watchword

Whatsoever things are lovely, I meditate on them

Whatsoever things are of good report, I talk about it

If it shows virtue and is praise-worthy, there you would find me from today forward in Jesus name. Amen

I present my mind as a living holy sacrifice to God

I present my hands as a consecrated sacrifice to God

I declare that my feet go to holy places.

I declare that my mouth speaks holy things from today.

I present my body as a living sacrifice to God.

This is my consecration in Jesus name
