Wholehearted: The Kind of Heart God Cannot Ignore

In this world filled with darkness, we need to have a burning hunger and love for God to remain shining as light. In a world filled with sin, we need to hunger for righteousness (Matthew 5: 6). The love for God will keep you from sin (John 14:15, 21). Anything less than a daily longing to be Christlike is the beginning of our backsliding.

Only a regenerated heart can long for God. To find God, we must seek Him with our whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13). If we are truly seeking God and panting after his righteousness, our actions would show our hunger, like John the Baptist said our actions should show that we have repented (Matthew 3:8).

There’s no magic to a wholehearted walk with God. It is simply built from a heart that sees the need for God because she can’t do anything apart from Him. It is a heart that chooses to depend on Him as one who is poor in spirit. That is the type of heart that can be hungry for God. 

Sisters, are you hungry for God? What actions are you taking with respect to your hunger? Do you truly love the Lord? The Holy Spirit is the one who spreads the love of God in our hearts (Romans 5:5). Are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Are you obedient to His nudging and instructions?

Backsliding is never sudden. It is gradual, based on our seemingly little actions or inactions. Stir up your hunger today.

Let us pray:

Father, help me to hunger and thirst for You. Plant in me a burning love for you and hatred for sin. I want to love You and be like You. Take the love for the world away from my heart in Jesus name. Amen
