Theme: Passionate Hunger

There is something about believing God that will cause God to pass over a million people just to get to you. — Smith Wigglesworth

There is a kind of faith we must pursue as we continue this year. It is the kind that stems from the belief in the spoken Word of God. It is important to understand that the hunger for God within us is able to rise beyond desperation.

This hunger clings to God’s Word in the face of uncertainties, trusts God’s character in overwhelming situations, seeks His face no matter the circumstances and the temptations to shift gaze.

Faith within us is meant to serve as a bold declaration that God’s Word is the very fuel that keeps a man floating above life’s circumstances and impossible situations. When a woman possesses this kind of faith, it commands divine attention.

ECHOES OF TRUTH

Remember the woman with the issue of blood. For twelve years, she has become an outcast, possibly haven’t had human touch or anyone speak to her for that matter. The matter of defilement would not let anyone dare. Unfortunately, for twelve years, nothing had sparked faith in this woman to wrought the much needed miracle in her life until that day.

That day, she heard that there was a Miracle Worker who could heal a girl on the verge of death. Then she thought, ‘perhaps, He can also revive me from the depths that has almost sucked me into death’s void…’

She summoned all the stamina she had, waded through the multitude, hoping to be unnoticed. Then seeing that speaking to draw attention to herself could cause her instant death by stoning due to defiling many persons with her presence, she thought once more.

‘What if I just touch the hem of His garment, I certainly will be healed.’

Then she girded up her loin and barely used the tip of her hand to touch God.

God stopped. God would not move an inch until He saw who drew from Him, power! ‘Who has seen My heart and touched Heaven?’ God’s Spirit searched and searched till she came forward, in all humility.

Her deepest hunger was fed to the brim when she heard, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering,’. God did not move on to the next agenda until He had satisfied her hungry soul (Luke 8:43-48).

Hannah was also such a woman. She had endured years of childlessness, ridicule, biological void, pain, societal pressure, name it. Yet she came with a heart fully surrendered to God. She stepped away from the noise of the annual festive prayer meeting to gain access directly to God.

Shutting herself up with God. Even though her prayers felt like whispers, they were a passionate heart cry to God Who only could meet her needs. Her hunger was pure; her faith was relentless. In no time, God noticed her surrendered heart, the willingness to do things His own way.

God needed a man to replace Eli, Hannah needed a son to end her barrenness. God saw a woman who would give Him back the son He gave her. Hannah would not let go of the opportunity. She made the bold declaration that made God stop by her and listen to her request.

Scriptures then say, “The Lord remembered her” (1 Samuel 1:19). He did not pass over her. God came to her because her heart was fully reaching for Him, she hungered for His attention, passionately.

Even now, God is looking for that woman whose heart still burns with faith built on the foundation of His Word, His Person. Are you that woman, Sis?

The call is clear: cultivate a hunger that cannot be satisfied by the ordinary, be a Oliver twist who never gets enough of God. God notices those who hunger and thirst after Him, He promises to fill them (Matthew 5:6).

Let Us Pray:
Father, fill my heart with the kind of faith that compels Your attention. Awaken in my heart the kind of hunger that cannot be satisfied with less than You. Cultivate in me a hunger that dispels distraction and disbelief. Even when the world surrounds me, I make room for you. Let Your presence in my life prove that You respond to those who truly believe. Teach me to believe You in the quiet, and seemingly impossible situations. Make my soul the place where Your promises come alive. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
