THEME: DESTROYING EVIL FAMILY PATTERNS
TEXT: LUKE 20:27-32; GENESIS 11: 27-29 GENESIS 12:10-15, GENESIS 26: 6-9; GENESIS 25:20-21.

Today is the 13th day of the Juicy July 2023 prayer programme. Glory be to God for how far He has brought us. May His name be praised forever.
Yesterday, we were made to understand that we have been placed over territories, nations and kingdoms.
One of the territories which is the closest to our hearts is OUR FAMILY.
And we were made to understand that we have the authority to pull down, destroy and uproot things messing with our nations, kingdoms and territories!
Today, we are doing to destroy, cancel, uproot and destroy the evil family patterns we have seen in our families.
Have you ever seen a young girl who is a splitting image of her mom before?? I mean, fully identical!
Even the gap tooth.
The dimples.
The face.
The shape.
Everything – exactly like the mom!
The exact prototype.
The one formed from the pattern of her mom.
If you pick a stamp and check it well, you’d see some things written on it. Immediately it comes upon some ink and placed on a clothing material or paper, it is supposed to copy and form the exact pattern on the stamp.
Right?
That’s pattern.
If you are a dressmaker, you should know what a pattern means. It is something you use to replicate the same, exact design on another clothing material.
If you are a cake maker, you should understand patterns too. There is an original pattern cutter which can be used to produce patterns on different, hundreds and thousands or cakes and pastries.
I am leaving you some images below to see what patterns look like. You’d see that it started with one. Then, the one is replicated and replicated and replicated and replicated.

PATTERNS.
There’s nothing wrong with patterns. It is beautiful.
God is a God of pattern. That was why He created genetics. That was why He created DNA. It is amazing to see a little baby looking completely like her mom. Or a sweet boy being the exact replica of his dad, in height, colour, voice etc.
It’s beautiful!
It’s amazing!
Everything in life is patterned after something. In 1 Timothy 1:16, Jesus is called a pattern for salvation.
It was God that gave the pattern for Noah’s ark. Noah spent about 120 years building the ark after a specific pattern given to him by God. Genesis 6:13-22.
It was part of the pattern that the window should not be by the sides, but at the top, so that whenever it was opened, it would open towards the heavens.
Whenever people use this adage, “like father like son,” they are making reference to the existence of a pattern.
But as soon as man fell, the devil, who is the master copycat, copied the beautiful plan of patterns and began to afflict the children of God with it.
While there are beautiful, good patterns, the enemy came into the picture to create negative, ugly and evil patterns!
Evil family patterns is the sequence of negative things in a family that keeps reoccurring generations after generations.
Simply put, it is something negative that you see in the father or mother and you see it also happening in the life of the son or daughter.
Evil pattern is one of the agendas of the devil to make sure that the children of God do not fulfill their destiny and callings in life.
He desires to stop you!
He makes efforts of different sorts to erase your existence off the face of the earth.
If he can’t touch your life, he wants to ensure you don’t live well!
Evil family patterns are some of the weapons He uses!
He uses the idea that a son is not meant to be greater than his father.
The limiting factor is where your father stopped.
That what stopped your father at the age of forty must also stop you at the age of forty!
The father was an alcoholic, so all his seeds must be alcoholic too!
The mother died at forty, all the first daughters must also die at forty.
The grandparents had an abusive marriage, why should her children and grandchildren’s cases be different?
Evil patterns.
Patterns are fashioned after the first.
Families are tied together by the cord of blood and this makes it easy for there to be common occurrences many times negatively in families.
What do you observe in your life that you can trace to any other member of your family line either immediate or external?
Have you noticed some patterns in your family or your spouse’s family?
Some families do not have a college graduate, and anyone who tries to break that yoke by going to school, such individuals will be disgracefully rusticated from school.
In other families, people don’t attain a certain age. They die when they are about to clock that age.
In some families, barrenness is the order of the day.
What of teenage pregnancies?
Maternal mortality?
Drunkenness or any addiction?
Marital sourness?
Mental illnesses?
One type of sickness or more?
Hypocrisy?
Pride?
Anger or wrath? .
Are you in this situation of an evil family pattern?
Where everything doesn’t go beyond where your parents or forefathers left it?
Where you are the exact or almost exact prototype of the negativities of your father’s or forefathers’ lives?
As someone who has been set over nations, you know you can’t take this anymore!
This is what we are doing here today.
We declare war!
Over the enemies of our territories!
We uproot rubbish out of our systems!
We destroy nonsense out of our blood lines.

How was the declarative session?

Before Solomon died, the Bible says he married 700 wives and 300 concubines, which turned away his heart from God.
See for yourself:
1 kings 11:3-4 “and he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.”
In 1 Chronicles 11:23, however, we see Rehoboam following the pattern of Solomon by marrying many wives and concubines, who turned his heart from God
Trust you have read the texts above.
Let’s look at LUKE 20:27-32. It says:
“Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
32 Last of all the woman died also.
Like we see in the text above, the family of seven brothers, all died mysteriously one after the other until the family was exterminated.
They all followed the evil pattern of untimely death.
Is there untimely death in your family? Do firstborns rarely live beyond 40 years?
Abraham was barren for years before he had Isaac.
Similarly, Isaac was barren before he had Jacob.
In Jacob’s time, his beloved wife, Rachel, was barren for years before her womb was opened.
This analogy is a clear example of an evil family pattern.
From our text again, we saw how Abraham lied to Abimelech, king of Gerar, that Sarah was his (Abraham’s) sister.
Many years later, Abraham’s son Isaac lied to (the same) Abimelech king of Philistines that Rebekah is his (Isaac’s) sister.
Later on, Jacob, Abraham’s grandson, told multiple lies to deceive Isaac, his father.
The father lied, the son lied. The grandson lied.
Are these coincidental?
Not at all!!!
Levi the forefather of Moses had terrible anger issue to the extent that he killed a man!
His father was mad at him for that and cursed him on his deathbed.
Hundreds of years later, that even pattern was there waiting to stamp itself on the life of Moses.
Waiting terribly there to stop his glorious shining.
It almost destroyed all the works he did here on earth and almost destroyed his eternal destiny but for God’s mercies.
Several family traits could be inherited and passed down to succeeding generations through the blood line.
It could be lying, stubbornness, marital problems, alcoholism, addictions, fornication and adultery, sudden death, sicknesses, failures, etc
What evil patterns have you inherited from your parents?
What evil/negative family traits are you passing down to your wonderful, precious children?
Won’t you love them enough to pass bad stuff down to them????
Won’t you be angry in your spirit and fight to finish so it ends with your parents??
Why elongate the life of an evil occurrence?
Have you discovered the negative traits in your life repeated in your children?
It could be a pattern of broken marriages in which all the ladies that married from that family always divorce their husbands and return to their father’s house.
It could also be a kind of heredity sickness like diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure etc.
Now is the time to break that pattern.
In our lives.
In our spouse’s lives.
In our marriages.
In our children.
In our parents.
In our siblings.
Isaiah 49:24-25 says:
“Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered, But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered; for I will contend with him that contends with thee and I will save thy children.”
