LORD, KILL WHAT IS LEFT OF ME

JUICY JULY 2023

DAY 3

THEME: KILL WHAT IS LEFT OF ME

TEXT: GALATIANS 5:16,24

BIBLE READING: ROMANS 8

Can the shoes tell the feet, ‘This is where you should go!’?

Or can the cap tell the head ‘This is how you should wear me’?

Or can the pot tell the potter, ‘This is the form in which I would love you to make me?’

The day your spoon begins to have the mouth to say ‘Hey, take it easy on me, don’t use me that way, don’t stain me with your saliva, don’t eat with me that way…’ you know there is trouble!

Right?

These things are just things, lifeless things that we use to accomplish our daily activities. They have no power over us. We have power over them. We bought them, we made them and we can do with them whatever we desire.

If for instance you are to go out and you try a dress you picked from your wardrobe to discover it had become extremely tight, what would you do?

You remove it and toss it away somewhere, looking for what else to wear, right? Oh yes, that’s the commonsensical thing to do.

That cloth is disposable!

Now, I am coming to a point and I am trying as much as possible to paint a graphical image in your memory before I round it off.

If you have been to a wake-keep ceremony before, you will understand this better.

There in the coffin lies a body. Maybe smiling, frowning or whatever, the body is there without life any longer. If you beat it, it can’t call you ‘stupid!’.

If you shoot it with a gun, it can’t feel the pains!

Why?

Because it is an ordinary encasement.

The user had used it, dumped it and gone away!

Ayayayayayaya, see, this body we are going around with is nothing but a container!

We will dump it one day!

We will remove it one day and fly away!

It is the one called flesh!

The wicked flesh!

The container that is ruling its content!

The only shoe that can dictate things to the feet!

The spoon that can decide how it is used!

The flesh!

The messenger that controls its master!

The flesh!

Our biggest enemy, the flesh!

Let me take you back to the times before the world began.

It was God’s intention to make someone that would be like the trinity. The person would be a spirit in the image of God but would have a carrier that would take him around. So, he made a clothing, a carriage, an enclosure from the earth and put man inside.

The breath of life is the spirit of God transferred into the earthly casement which formed man. That spirit exactly is the main man, not the earth! Not the physical bod! Not the flesh, bones, blood. No, that’s not the real man. The case is not the real man!

The case of your phone is not the real phone. Someone cannot remove your phone, give you the case and go with the phone. What would you do with the case?

The real you isn’t the one you see in the mirror. That is the flesh! And that is what we see when someone dies. You’d say ‘Oh, the person is gone!’

Gone? Isn’t the person right before me here?

‘Oh, no! That’s the body’ You’d say.

Why?

The real phone has gone and the body is only a phone cover!

The exotic dimples

The lovely diastema

The long, dark hair

The sonorous voice

The adorable height

The curvy, well-rounded body

The succulent skin

The sweet eyes of a dove

The breasts

The private parts

The fair skin

That is the flesh!

It is just a clothing!

A covering!

An encasement!

A carrier!

FOR THE SPIRIT!

The flesh is nothing! However, unfortunately, it rules!

The spirit was supposed to be in charge of the flesh!

The flesh was made to only embody the spirit, how did it get to himself this much power?

The Bible says in Romans 6:16 that ‘Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey…’?

The phone case became more powerful than the phone;

The spoon started fighting its user;

The flesh became powerful over the spirit;

All these happened when the spirit of man decided to obey God’s enemy!

Adam and Eve presented themselves as slaves to Satan when they obeyed him!

That gave mere earth the power to contend with God’s spirit!

Their spirits were supposed to be looking upward, Heavenward, desiring the things above. Suddenly, there was a fall!

The accursed enemy told them a lie, it sounded good to them, they believed it over God and they lost it!

They started majoring on the minor and minoring on the major!

They started desiring things that are earthly than things that are heavenly.

They started paying attention to the flesh, the case, the cover than their real selves.

The spirit in them still draws towards heaven but the earth from which they were made keeps pulling them to itself also!

The spirit desires to do God’s will and obey his commands but the flesh says ‘Oh, I also have my own will, desires and commands which I would love you to obey’

And the flesh’s desires always seem so interesting and delicious!

The grandmaster of the flesh. The controller general of the flesh is the devil. All he does is make the flesh happy, comfortable, satisfied, rich, beautiful, powerful!

He knows if he can make sure he hypnotizes you to focus on the unimportant, he can be able to snatch the important from you!

So, the flesh fights the spirit so fiercely and with purpose that it is almost impossible to say ‘no’ to its dictates.

And the spirit also fights back because ‘Oh what an audacity, you are just a cover, flesh, stop trying to rule over me here!’

So, it is an ongoing war!

A daily war!

A momentary war!

But we need to know that the flesh has nothing good, I mean, not even a slight dot of good in it!

It needs to be killed daily!

It needs to be crucified daily!

It needs to be denied daily!

If it wants more food, even though you’ve taken some before, intentionally deny it! It wants to turn you into a glutton.

If it wants some honour and recognition, you deny it some! It wants you to take God’s glory!

You need to keep denying the flesh, if not, you will keep denying the spirit!

For instance, when you eat and eat like a glutton, you feel so heavy to pray. You feel so tired, so you move to your bed to sleep. You have denied the spirit the opportunity to connect to the Spirit of God where it derives its strength from. When you wake up, you are still weak but your spirit still pulls towards studying the Scriptures. Before you know it, you end up seeing 5 episodes of a TV show on a spot. You’ve denied the spirit again! And you’ve fed the flesh again!

And you’d begin to find it difficult to win because the stronger of the two would always win the battle!

The one who is more robust, muscular and energetic wins!

The one who is more well-fed wins!

The one to whom you yield to more wins!

The one who is more obeyed wins!

Ayayayyayayaya

Who’s been winning in your own life?

The phone or the phone case?

Who’s been in charge?

The potter or the pot?

The Bible says in John 6:63 that ‘It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing…’

The spirit will strengthen you but the flesh will only leave you weak and useless. The quantity of profit you will get from obeying the flesh is NOTHING!

Galatians 5:17 says ‘The flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want’

I trust you now have a better understanding of what the flesh is. Before we go on, let us bury ourselves in this song for the next ten minutes thereabout.

OH, FLESH BE GONE! by Theophilus Sunday

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, once again!

It’s Day 3 already sisters.

And 3 is a very interesting and amazing number that you should be excited about.

Our freedom is finally here!

You know why?

Come with me to Hosea 6:2: After two days will he revive us: on the third day he will raise us up and we shall live in his sight.

Ahh! Sisters, is God not too amazing? Take a look at the past two days, I mean, two fiery days!

Are you not revived?

Are you not quickened and ready to break every chain, limitations and have your freedom?

Now see what that verse says again!

“…on the third day, He will raise us up”

Hallelujaaaaaah, there is hope! See how God is so mindful of you and I.

Jesus was raised up on the third day; today also, God is raising us up from every sin and condemnations in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

He’s handing over to us the key to our freedom! So, we are crossing over from having a struggling Christian experience to possessing a victorious Christian life! Glory!

Sing with me if you know this song:

Victory is mine,

Victory is mine,

Victory today is mine,

I told satan, get behind me,

Victory today is mine.

If you don’t know it, you can play the sound below:

VICTORY IS MINE

Today, we have victory from the works of the flesh!

From the works of this flesh that we are carrying around everywhere, we have victory today!

As we have seen from the graphical image above, the greatest enemy of man is not the devil, because he has been defeated.

Witches, wizard, principalities etc. are not our greatest enemies because by putting on the whole armor of God, they are disarmed. Not only that, if we are in the spirit, we are seated with Christ in Heavenly places, far above Principalities and power.

Our greatest enemy as believers is the flesh, the carnal mind!

Bro Gbile would call it “Mr. Flesh”, or “the old man”. He is constantly fighting for the Life of Christ we received at Salvation.

That rise and fall in that habit; that addiction to immorality; the little exaggerations here and there, pride and prejudice; that bitterness and envy, with subtle jealousy for people you ought to genuinely be celebrating; that long standing quarrel, hurt and betrayal that you’ve vowed never to forgive the person; that husband you’ve decided not to submit to- that is the old man at work!

That anger; accusation against God and outright rebellion; deliberate frustration of divine counsels are all Mr. Flesh’s works.

You struggle to not allow them but they keep winning.

This is why flesh must die!

That is why every residue of flesh must die!

You cannot be what the Lord wants you to be when flesh is still at work in you!

It is a stain on your spirit!

It is a stain on the work you do for the works of the Lord!

May God open your eyes to see who’s enthroning himself in your lives even after you’ve been saved from him and his work, so you can say, ‘No more!’

May your eyes be open to not see your offender, spouse, but the Mr. Flesh that’s working behind the scene in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

1 John 2:15-16 says: ‘Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

All that is in the world, everything that is earthly, are divided into three:

·       The lust of the flesh

·       The lust of the eyes

·       The pride of life

These are not of God but of the earth! They belong to the earth!

The enemy uses these three things to entice us to sin. Immediately he sees a glory ahead, he quickly uses these three as weapon to destroy it!

The Bible reveals how he did this both at the Garden of Eden when the first Adam was formed and on the Mount of Temptation when the second Adam was to be glorified!

The lust of the flesh includes tasting, touching, smelling, and hearing.

The lust of the eyes is seeing.

The pride of life is thinking you are special because of who you are, what you have, what you know, or what you look like.

At the Garden of Eden: “The woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat.” Genesis 3:6

The woman, Eve, saw that “the tree was good for food” – the lust of the flesh;

“it was pleasant to the eyes” – the lust of the eyes and

“a tree to be desired to make one wise” – the pride of life.

Of course, you know the rest of the story! Eve was deceived, Adam disobeyed, sin came into the world, and death passed upon all men by sin, for that ALL have sinned…

On the Mount of Temptation: When the tempter came to Jesus, he said:

“If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” Matthew 4:3 – the lust of the flesh.

“The devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, ‘All these things will I give thee.’” Matthew 4:8-9 – the lust of the eyes.

“Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, ‘If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.’” Matthew 4:5-6 – the pride of life.

Through the power of the Spirit, with the Sword of the Spirit, Christ successfully resisted the temptations of the Devil and now we can too!

We can only conquer the flesh when we feed our spirits. How? Walking by the Spirit!

Galatians 5:25 says: “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”

The phrase “walk by the Spirit” occurs not only in verse 25 but also in verse 16:

“But I say, walk by the Spirit and do not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

So here we see what the opposite of walking by the Spirit is, namely, giving in to the desires of the flesh. And the opposite of giving in to the flesh is walking by the spirit!

When we “walk by the Spirit,” we are not controlled by the fleshly drives. This is what verse 17 means by:

‘The flesh produces one kind of desires, and the Spirit produces another kind, and they are opposed to each other…’

Walking by the Spirit is what we do when the desires produced by the Spirit are stronger than the desires produced by the flesh.

“Walking by the Spirit” is something the Holy Spirit enables us to do by producing in us strong desires that accord with God’s will. This is what God said he would do in Ezekiel 36:26, 27:

A new heart I will give you and a new spirit I will put within you . . . I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes.

So, when we “walk by the Spirit,” the Holy Spirit produces in us desires for God’s way that are stronger than our fleshly desires, and thus He causes us to walk in God’s statutes.

“Walking by the Spirit” and “being led by the Spirit” refer to the same thing.

“Being led by the Spirit” stresses the Spirit’s initiative and enablement.

“Walking by the Spirit” stresses our resulting behavior.

The Spirit leads us by creating desires to obey God in us, and we walk by fulfilling those desires in action. By obedience! By choosing Him! By saying ‘No!’ to the flesh!

What did Jesus mean when he said in John 15:5, “Without me you can do nothing”? Of course, we can do something without Jesus: we can sin! But that’s all we can do.

So, the first step of walking by the Spirit is: Admit this fact and let it have its devastating effect on our pride. We cannot do anything pleasing to God without the constant enablement of the Spirit.

Let’s take another song before we go on:

LORD, I CANNOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU by Dr. Enenche

You are my strength

When I seem to have no strength.

You are my song

When I am in need of song.

You are my strength

When I seem to have no strength.

You are my song

When I am in need of song.

Chorus;

Lord I cannot do without you

No matter how hard I choose to try

You are everything to me in everything.

(Repeat)

SHALL WE PRAY?

Begin to worship the Lord for this wonderful day.

Sing songs of worship to Him from your heart to the Lord.

Tell the Lord how much you love Him and how much you would love to serve Him.

Give Him all the glory for being interested in you to the extent He is revealing this truth to you.

.
.
.
.

Now, begin to cover yourself with the Blood of Jesus.

Ask the Lord to open your spirit wide enough to receive Heavenly signals.

Ask the Lord to teach you to pray according to God’s Will today.

Ask the Lord to open the floodgate of righteousness upon you as you pray today.
.
.
.
.

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, deliver me from myself in your mercy!!!!!! (Continue to pray this until you feel a release in your spirit to continue)

Lord, have mercy on me! Lord, have mercy upon me. Have mercy on me! (Keep asking for mercy over and over again.)

Lord, I surrender this flesh completely to You. Kill this flesh Lord so that my spirit can live for You! (Raise your arms up and mean this prayer)

Oh flesh be gone away from me! You have done enough destruction to my spirit, be gone away from me!!!

Father help me to hate the Devil and his works the more. Give me hatred for the Devil and his works, Lord! (Repeat over and over)

Father, give me an understanding of how important it is for me to care for my spirit. Teach me to care for my spirit oh Lord my God!!

I dethrone flesh from my life. Satan pack your load and go from the throne of my life. Only the Lord Jesus is allowed to reign here in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

Oh my inner man, receive the strength of the Master to resist the flesh whenever it comes knocking in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. My inner man, be strengthened!!!

Pause and say this prayer after me:

Dear Father, thank You for the grace to be a partaker of Your divine nature and glory.

Thank You for enabling me to overcome the temptations of the flesh, world, and devil.

Your Word assures me that sin shall not have dominion over me because I am not under the Law but under grace.

Your Word says that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.

Therefore, I take my stand against every power canvassing against my Christian walk and victory.

I reject any attempt by the enemy to erect an evil structure on my path of progress and victory.

I refuse to give place to any principalities or powers.

I refuse to follow after the lusts of my flesh.

I reject any attempt by the enemy to use anybody as a means of drawing me away from following You wholeheartedly.

I determine right now to crucify my flesh daily with its affections, lusts, and desires through obedience to your word. Help my determination, Lord. Strengthen my revolve, Father.

My heart’s desire is to serve only You all the days of my life in Jesus’ name!

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Lord, help me crucify my flesh so that my thoughts, words and behavior reflect your glory.

Help me to focus on the work ahead and not become weary or distracted by what others are doing around me.

As I walk through this earthly life, help me not forget why I am here – to bring glory to your name.

Father stir up a lasting hunger for your word and sincere commitment to living out your word.

Father endue me with Power to walk in the Spirit and not after the Flesh.

I declare that I’m endued with an insatiable appetite to till every fallow ground till you rain your righteousness in me.

Father in the name of Jesus, I’m engraced from today henceforth to walk in delightsome obedience to the Holy spirit.

Father in the name of Jesus my inner man is ever revived to carry my Cross; your sign of death to flesh, your sign of complete victory over the works of the flesh.

Father in the name of Jesus, I cease to see your ways as stress, I receive it as Freedom ordained for me from you. In Jesus mighty name,

ROUND OFF THIS SESSION WITH THIS PRAYER SONG. RELEASE YOUR SPIRIT AND LET IT CONNECT TO THE LORD. MAKE SURE YOU PRAY!!!!
