Welcome back!
I know we all have heard about Mercy. Some of us here are even named Mercy. In one way or the other, we must have cried ‘Have mercy on me, Lord’ in the past.
But do you really know what mercy is?
Do you know how important the cry for mercy is?
Do you know what mercy can do to you and your situation?
Maybe you do not know. Let me show you:
CASE 1: Bola is a child of God. She had been looking for a good job for a long time to no avail. On the 28th of June, by chance, she saw an advert on LinkedIn. It was for a job at one of the biggest tech companies in her country. The pay was 20 times the job she had been praying to God for. She looked through the requirements and saw she only had two of the required five certifications. To worsen the case, the job application was closing that same day and it was already six in the evening. She shut her laptop and went to the sitting room to relax with her mum. She knew she had no chance at all:
- It was too late to apply
- She didn’t have the complete qualifications
- It is one of the biggest tech companies so there would be many people who would be far better than her coming for the interview.
After the evening family devotion at 10 pm, the mum told Bola that the Holy Spirit whispered to her that ‘What I have placed on your mind to do, do it fast!’. Bola was confused. She couldn’t think of anything. She lay in her bed and started crying to God again. ‘What would You have me do, Lord? Have mercy on me and make it clear’
Suddenly, it appeared to her that the application could be what the Lord was telling her to take seriously. She checked the time, it was already 11 pm. ‘Oh my!’ She exclaimed and rushed to her desk. She flipped her laptop open and started to prepare the cover letter, edited the reference letter, attached her CV and the two certifications she had, and at 11.50 pm, she was done. She sent the message to the specified email and placed everything in God’s hands.
One week later, she was called for an interview. She could not even believe it and fear came upon her. She was really discouraged all of a sudden.
‘I am not good enough. I am only going to waste transportation fare to and fro.’ She complained to herself. Her mum encouraged her to go and she yielded. She was so shocked when she arrived at the venue and the company announced they were only looking to pick one single person!
‘What!’ She exclaimed ‘With the hundreds of people here?’ She shivered.
She joined in a number of discussions with some of the applicants and realized some of them were graduates of international universities, some had Ph.D. and some were well connected.
She chuckled at herself. ‘Girl, you shouldn’t be here!’
There were 305 applicants and she was number 300. She was further disheartened. ‘This is absolutely not meant for me’ She said dejectedly as tears gathered in her eyes.
When she was called in about three hours later, she was so discouraged to go. It took the intervention of one of the cleaners who had been watching for her to stand and go inside. She stood in front of the panel and cold shivers ran through her spine.
She couldn’t say anything at all for a long time as the panel checked through her papers.
‘You are not certified in this?’ One asked.
‘No sir!’
You are not certified in that?’ Another asked.
‘Not yet sir!’ She replied faintly, her head pounding.
‘And look at the way you are standing as if you want to collapse. Do you really want to work here?’ Another asked, disgusted.
‘I am so sorry sir’ She said, her voice shaky. She had started sweating profusely.
‘You don’t really want to work with us, right? Why apply when you do not even match the criteria?’ Another man asked.
‘My sincere apologies sir’ She muttered again, fighting the tears in her eyes from strolling down.
‘You keep apologizing. Tell us, why are you really here? To waste our time or for what….’ Another was saying when Bola burst out crying.
‘I’m sorry sir. I’m deeply sorry sir’ She cried. ‘I’d leave now sir. I’m sorry sir’ She cried, sniffing so wetly. She started running towards the door, her head banging so terribly.
‘Omobolanle Adekojo!’ A familiar voice called out. She turned back suddenly to look in the direction of the voice.
‘Dr. Charles!’ She cried out. She was so stunned to see her favorite project supervisor back in the day.
‘Please, Dr. Adekunle, give her a seat’ Dr. Charles ordered one of the panel members. The man was shocked but did as he was told. Bola was still shaking as she sat down.
‘I have found the chosen one’ Dr. Charles said. There were mumblings.
‘Sir, sentiments aside. She is not fit for this position’ Dr. Adekunle said.
‘I thought we have found our pick. That Sharon girl from Leeds’ Another said.
‘Even the Dapo from FUTA which was the worst interviewee we’ve interviewed so far today is far better than this one’ Another said.
‘Well, I appreciate all your concerns.’ Dr. Charles cut in. ‘Omobolanle Adekojo!’ He called out again.
‘Yes, doc!’ She replied, not knowing how exactly to feel. Joyful? Overwhelmed? Excited? Sad?
‘What did I tell you after your project defense in 2010?’
‘Omobolanle! You are so beautiful and intelligent! The only thing you need to wear more is confidence and faith and you will keep winning! When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things.’
‘Great! I am glad you still remember that. But I am sad you didn’t follow that advice here today. Where is the confidence? Where is the fun? Where is the faith? Even if you are coming here to say nonsense, say it confidently with faith and have fun while doing it. So, what happened to that?’ He asked.
‘My sincere apologies doc. I am so sorry I failed you yet again.’ She replied slowly.
‘Dear panel of judges, Omobolanle is the most intelligent genius I have ever met! She started coding at nine years old. Trust me when I say I know the gold inside of this girl. I would love you all to please believe in her just like I do. Not because I am the chairman or something but please, believe in her. I wish she had more faith in herself but she’d be a great asset to this company!’ Dr. Charles said and people murmured again.
‘Okay! You know what? I will place a bet on her and dare you all to ask her one very difficult question in your area of specialization. I bet you she would be able to trash them all!’ He dared and some of them chuckled out of wicked excitement. Bola was bewildered at such a bold one.
‘I will go first.’ Dr. Adekunle said, sounding so mockingly excited. ‘Omobolanle, what are the parameters for diagnosing the strength of this and that when it comes in contact with that or…’
Omobolanle, according to the word of Dr. Charles trashed the whole questions that every single one of them asked excellently. They were all so shocked!
Need I say that she got the job on a platter of gold? No! She actually got it on a platter on mercy!
That was mercy!
Mercy says ‘yes’ in the midst of multitudes of ‘no’s!
Mercy doesn’t care about your certification or experience!
Mercy doesn’t care about how confident you are or how beautiful you appear!
When mercy speaks, everything must obey!

CASE 2: Salewa is a child of God. At 35 years of age, she was not yet married! She believed so much in waiting on the Lord for His choice but no man was coming for her. She looked through her family and realized that there was a curse on the marriages of every member of her family- Some married so late! Some married the wrong persons despite warnings here and there! Some were experiencing delays in childbearing! Some have children out of wedlock!
Even her mum suffered domestic violence till she died because she decided she wouldn’t end up a single mother as her mum and grandmum ended! So, the curse dated back to her ancestors!
Salewa started to ask for mercy. She started to plead for mercy over her marital life. She asked that the Mercy of the Lord should intervene in her choice of a man and also enable her to live happily in her home and bear godly kids to the glory of the Lord. She fasted and prayed very seriously for mercy to break all the yokes in her life.
One day, the Lord asked Mercy to attend to her!
Just as the Lord is asking Mercy to attend to you today! Amen?
Mercy arrived but there were people at the gates of her glory!
MERCY: Leave the road! I am here to deliver the Lord’s message!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Isn’t that good marriage you are carrying with you?
MERCY: Yes, what is that to you?
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Ah, such a godly man for Salewa?
MERCY: Open the gates and let me pass through!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Ah, and even twins two times?
MERCY: Open the gates now!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Well, I think you were not informed but this is our boundary! Nothing good passes through to her when it comes to happy marriages and godly fruits!
MERCY: Well, I am coming in the Name of the L…
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Her great-grandfather snatched the wife of Adeolu, the only prince of the King of Somolu that year. As if that was not enough, he killed the prince and rendered the throne empty after the death of the king who died due to the shock of the incident. It was the queen that issued us to being and since that year, we have been following this family and we will never depart.
MERCY: Well, you must not have known that Salewa is a different species.
ANCESTRAL CURSES: How is she different? Is her surname not Oluomo? Doesn’t she have the blood of Oluomo, her great-grandfather flowing through her veins?
MERCY: You see what I am saying, right? You are so ignorant! She’s had a change of name and no, she doesn’t have the blood of Oluomo in her anymore! She’s been transfused with another Blood!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: What is this one saying? We can still see our marks on her forehead. She is our meat! She will die single! If she ever dares anything funny, we will kill her or any man who wants to come close to her!
MERCY: Well, you must have been so blind not to see that she doesn’t have the ancestral marks on her any more!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Ah ah! You are daring us?
MERCY: I have no business with you! Open this gate now! The Lord has sent me to Salewa!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: (Hiss) I will call her forth now to show you what I am talking about! Salewa omo Oluomo ooooo, come here now!
Salewa walked in.
ANCESTRAL CURSES: You see? She answered me! (Laughs wickedly)
MERCY: Salewa? Whose daughter are you?
SALEWA: I am the daughter of the Lord Jesus Christ!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Shut up! Eh, shut…’
MERCY: Whose Blood runs through your veins?
SALEWA: The Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Ah! Ah, wos, Salewa, where is the mark that we put on your forehead? Why is there a different mark on your forehead now?
MERCY: My name is Mercy. Salewa that you knew a minute ago is different from the one standing here! She can’t be standing before me and still remain the same!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Ah, wait, you mean the mark, ouur mark is gone? Iro o! Salewa, which mark is this on your forehead now?
SALEWA: The marks of the Lord Jesus Christ!
ANCESTRAL CURSES: Ah!!! But, you see, Mercy or what is your name. This girl’s great-grandfather has sinned and the Holy Book agrees that we should visit the iniquity of the fathers on the children ….’
MERCY: Not when Mercy is here! Salewa has been changed by my presence here! She has been delivered from every iniquity committed by her forefathers. So, enough is enough, ancestral curses! Shut your mouth and pack your load out of here in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ in whose authority I stand here today!
Do I need to tell you that the curses had to get away from Salewa’s life forever?
Do I need to tell you that she got married to a very godly man and got good, lovely, and godly sons and daughters?
Do I need to tell you her marriage was so beautiful that it even blessed everyone around her?
MERCY!
When mercy appears, protocols are broken!
When mercy is at work, even the law of karma loses its hold!
When God decides to show you mercy, everything about your life will be reactivated.
When mercy speaks, ancestral curses must bow!
In the presence of mercy, accusations are brought to naught!
The mercies of God upon your life will make people love you despite your inadequacies!
You will enjoy grace and favor when mercy visits you!
When God shows you mercy, everything about your life will change automatically.
When God shows you mercy, you will no longer be at the mercy of your enemies.
When God shows you mercy, you will be ahead of those who were ahead of you.
Mercy makes you outstanding.
Mercy commands respect.
The mercy of God will spare your life where death is reigning!
The mercy of God brings speed to your life!
The mercy of God will bring the help of God to you!

46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.
Today is the end of that blindness and ridiculous sickness that has reduced you to nothing or almost nothing in the Mighty Name of Jesus!
Today, I command that every roadside begging or embarrassing enterprise in your life bow before the Mercy of the Lord never to revisit your life in the Mighty Name of Jesus!
Shout 7 big ‘Amen!’
47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Sisters, Jesus is passing your way tonight!!
Jesus, the God of mercy is passing your way tonight!
Oh my my!
And you won’t be quiet and say simple prayers today. You will shouttttttt!!!!!!

51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

Make it clear!
This blind man knew what he wanted and he got it. What do you want? Mercy is asking you, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’

If he had said ‘For me to get daily alms enough to build a house’ He would have received!
If he had said ‘For me to see and be highly favored’ He would have received.
Open your eyes and ears today sisters and see the Lord asking you. What do you want?

52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
And Jesus stamped it in His mercy!
Sisters, Jesus did not ask questions at all. He didn’t say ‘How did this happen?’
‘Were you cursed with this blindness?’
‘Why did you also steal that ram and got blindness instead?’
No, He didn’t ask questions. This was because the plea the man sent to heaven was mercy!
He asked for mercy!
His request rode on the wings of mercy!
And mercy cannot be denied!
The mercies of our God endure forever and ever!
Our Daddy is so merciful!
He wants to have mercy on us!
So, He had to grant that request!

Do you need God’s mercies in your life today?

Blind Bartimaeus never had the opportunity to frame long speeches – all he could shout for was simple- “Jesus, son of David, have MERCY on me!”
They told him to keep quiet but ‘he cried a great deal more’
Until he received the mercy!
Exodus 33:19 says: And he said….. and (I) will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
The Lord will show mercy on those He will show His mercy!
Ah, shout it loud and clear, sis!
‘Oh Lord, choose me by your mercy and for Your mercy today in the Mighty Name of Jesus!! Oh Lord, have mercy on me!’

O God of mercy, uproot the root of sin in my life and give me a resounding testimony, in the name of Jesus.

By your mercy O Lord, you heard the cry of blind Bartimaeus, hear my cry of mercy and settle my case today, in Jesus’ name.
O God of mercy, let your terror fall on my adversaries so that they will not have the ability to pursue me again, in Jesus’ name.
Power of God that exposes the works of darkness, begin to expose those powers covering the heaven of my mercy, in Jesus’ name.

If I am behind my heavenly ordained destiny, Mercy of God move me forward to where I am supposed to be now, in the name of Jesus.
