THEME: DIVINE REMEMBRANCE AND HELP OF GOD

TEXT: JOHN 5:1-8 MARK 10:46-52; Malachi 3:16

BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 61

Sisters, 7 days are gone and it’s the 8th day today!

We bless the Lord for thus far He’s brought us.

Think ye not that your prayers are of no effects.

Think ye not to slow down or give up. He that shall endure till the end, the same shall be saved!

And the effectual FERVENT prayer of the righteous man availeth MUCH!

Keep the tempo high!

Don’t be tired!

Don’t get weary!

Be aggressive about receiving your own blessings!

Don’t leave any stone unturned!

Continue to squeeze out all the juice!

Keep on praying. Keep on winning!

When prayers go up, answers must come down!

If there is a you to pray, there is a Him to answer!

Halleluyah!

We won’t stop receiving until we have fully received in the Mighty Name of Jesus!

Amen!

Let’s quickly dive into our first song for today. It is a Yoruba song and I couldn’t

Welcome back, sisters!

Quickly tell the Lord not to pass you by today.

Tell Him to remember you once again

Just cry your heart to Him to give you your testimonies.

He is a faithful Father, He will hear and answer!

Cry to Him not to pass you by!

Ask Him to remember you and hear your humble cry as He did to Bartimeus.

And He will answer.

For in Jesus’ mighty name, we have prayed. AMEN!

Today we’ll be looking at a very important topic that centers on Remembrance and Help

These two words are interrelated. Where you see Divine Remembrance, you see Divine help!

When the book of remembrance is opened to a man, what follows is divine help!

WHAT IS REMEMBRANCE?

Remembrance is a state of bearing in mind.

The act of calling to mind.

The act of awareness & realization

Remembrance is the act of remembering or state of being remembered

To remember something means to have the ability to recall or bring to mind information, experiences, or events from the past.

Remembrance means to be mindful of, to make mention of, to think well of, etc. The root word remembrance in the bible depicts โ€œdue timeโ€.

However, our decisions and desperation can decide the due time.

Our faith-filled, surrendered cries can decide seasons in God.

In John 2, Jesus said ‘My hour is not yet come’ but Maryโ€™s action provoked the due time!

Things don’t happen just like that, God’s people make them happen! All through the scriptures, when you read ‘…and God remembered His people’, you will quickly notice that it was because they did something to provoke this.

Hannah refused to leave Shiloh. She did what Yorubas would call ‘taku ti Jesu’!

Esther fasted for three days and nights with her friends before the Jews were remembered.

One of the notorious aspects of life is that man can easily dwindle away and forget about you.

There are people today who are struggling because men forgot them. There are people who are sitting at the gate instead of riding on the horse of honor and royalty because someone forgot their acts and good deeds (Esther 6:1-11).

God never forgets anyone. The all-knowing God could never forget to do whatever He promises to do.

God is ever alert and sensitive to the performance of anything He says He will do. But, why is it that in the Scriptures, we often read the words โ€œGod remembered…โ€?

Does this not seem to suggest that God sometimes forgets?

Would we need to pray for remembrance if God does not forget?

Here is what the Scripture saysโ€ฆ”Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget theeโ€ Is. 49:15.

From the above, it is clear that God never forgets. We pray for divine remembrance not because God forgets, but so that He may bring us into focus.

When God picks out a man from the crowd, that is divine remembrance at work.

Just like you zoom your camera lens on an object, divine remembrance zooms Godโ€™s attention on the remembered!!!

The Butler, who had forgotten about Joseph for two full years suddenly remembered Joseph.

What did you think triggered that remembrance? God remembered Joseph!!!

When God remembers a man, those who have forgotten him will just suddenly remember him.

Joseph was not the only prisoner, but when God brought him into focus, he was the one the king sent for.

It doesnโ€™t matter how many people know how to do what you do, when God brings you into focus, you are pulled out of the crowd.

GOD REMEMBERED HANNAH: 1 Samuel 1:13-20

You can read the text for a proper grasp of this story of Hannah. This lady went through ridicule from her rival, day in day out.

Even the love that her husband showed to her didn’t mean anything to her anymore because she was barren. She needed children!

Yearly, she would visit Shiloh and return empty!

It felt like Heaven was shut against her!

Until that Shiloh!

The Shiloh that changed it all!

Until this particular Juicy July!

The Juicy July that changes it all!

Amen!!!!

19 And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, AND THE LORD REMEMBERED HER.

20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time came about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

GOD REMEMBERED THE ISRAELITES EXODUS 2:23-24

And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage

God heard their groaning, God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob,

Ayayayyayayaya

WHEN GOD TURNED THE CAPTIVITY OF ZION AROUND. Psalm 126: 1-3:

When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.

The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

It was too good to be true; there was a return of good and great fortunes; they became the talk of nations.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GOD REMEMBERS A MAN?

1. You receive divine direction.

2. You have a new song, new testimonies, joy, and gladness.

3. Sudden visitation and help rise.

4. You escape the calamities of life

5. You enjoy the Flood gate of his mercies and lines will begin to fall in pleasant places for you

6. Uncommon doors of opportunities are opened unto you- Doors of God shocking testimonies.

7. Every opposition will backfire.

8. You become a candidate of testimonies, favor, and glory.

9. Your defeat is turned into victory.

So, Divine Help is usually what follows Divine Remembrance.

Honor follows Divine Remembrance.

Favor follows Divine Remembrance.

Testimonies follow Divine Remembrance.

Let me try to show you what it looks like in the physical.

During NYSC, you had a neighbor, Kelechi. She was such a nice person but 10 years after, you’ve forgotten about her.

Suddenly, you go on Facebook and see her photograph. The picture looks so familiar to you that you click and start to ransack her page.

‘My God, this is Kelechi!!!’ You scream.

‘Ahhhh, Kelechi!’

And then, her memories start to seep in.

You remember those times when she’d cook for you before you come back from your PPA.

You remember how she’d defend you from those bad boys who tried several times to attack you at night.

You remember how she’d give you hot food during those needy periods as if she knew you had nothing at home.

And the day you were admitted to the hospital, you remember how tears rolled down her face as she cried ‘Don’t die, Corper Vicky. Don’t die’

And how she’d hold your hands, bring your food, feed you, help you to the bathroom and all.

You remember the day you were to leave Imo state after the completion of your national service. How she cried shamelessly as if a part of her was being torn away. How she ran after the bus as it took off as if she wanted to go with you to Ibadan.

As those thoughts visit your memory again, you choke on your tears.

‘Ah, Kelechi!’

‘Oh, sweet Kelechi!’

‘But why does Kelechi look this poor and wretched?’

‘Why is Kelechi dressed this way?’

‘Is Kelechi still poor?’

‘Couldn’t she later go to school as she planned to?’

What would you do?

You won’t just close Facebook and move on with life. No!

A normal person would reach out to her.

You’d call her. Cry together. Know how far everything is with her.

If you realize she’s in any terrible need, you’d want to do everything to help, because now, God has blessed you. You are so rich.

You’d want to ask if she’d love to come visit you in Canada.

You’d love to ask for her account number so you can send her some aza. Hahaha

Remembrance provokes blessings!

It provokes help!

And this is why we should do good. We should do good to people.

We should help them. Give them. Talk good about them. Don’t fight. Be nice to them. Let the light of our righteousness so shine before them.

Those are seeds standing before the Lord for you. They’d testify for you in the days of your visitation. It might not be the people who you have helped that would pay you back. But those are like receipts of doing good.

And you know what the Bible says about that?

Galatians 6:9 says ‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.’

And not just to humans now. Do good to God also. That is why I would always hammer on investing in prayers. When the day of remembrance comes and the books are open, how many prayers can be in your name?

How much prayers have you said to secure the future?

Pray a lot!

Give to the people of God a lot.

Fast.

Do service for the Lord.

Love Him. Trust Him. Be confident in Him.

Talk about Him.

Worship Him.

THEY. ARE. NOT. IN. VAIN!

If you have not been doing that before, start now!

If you have not been doing that very well, start doing that very well now. Not as unto men but unto God!

Today, I see God remembering you.

I see God zooming His attention on you.

I see God bringing you into focus.

This divine force will pull you out of obscurity into the limelight.

It will give you the position you do not deserve.

It will terminate years of stagnation and pain.

God will remember you today in Jesus’ Name.

Let’s take this prayer song before we go on:

Use the wordings I used in the lyrics to sing the song.

Replace the ‘help’ also with ‘heal’ or ‘visit’ as the case may be. I hope you understand.
