Hello sisters. Day 18 is here!
Woah. We’re more than halfway through the Juicy July program, and see how the Lord has greatly been helping us seek His face.
I’m certain today will not be any less.
Say: Oh Lord, bless me one more time today.
If you have been taking the prayers with levity before now, I plead with you, pleeaasee, start taking it seriously.
Before you know it, the well-anticipated Juicy July would be gone again!
You will not lose the blessing assigned to you in Jesus’ name.
And I pray you receive the strength and fire you need to earnestly pray in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
Before we dive into what is before us, let’s take our first song:

Hallelujah!
Let’s read from the book of Acts 6:1-7 very quickly. I will be using the Easy-to-Read Version.
6 More and more people were becoming followers of Jesus. But during this same time, the Greek-speaking followers began to complain against the other Jewish followers. They said that their widows were not getting their share of what the followers received every day.
2 The twelve apostles called the whole group of followers together. The apostles said to them, “It would not be right for us to give up our work of teaching God’s word in order to be in charge of getting food to people.
3 So, brothers and sisters, choose seven of your men who have a good reputation. They must be full of wisdom and the Spirit. We will give them this work to do.
4 THEN WE CAN USE ALL OUR TIME TO PRAY AND TO TEACH THE WORD OF GOD.”
5 The whole group liked the idea. So they chose these seven men: Stephen (a man with great faith and full of the Holy Spirit), Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus (a man from Antioch who had become a Jew).
6 Then they put these men before the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.
7 The word of God was reaching more and more people. The group of followers in Jerusalem became larger and larger. Even a big group of Jewish priests believed and obeyed.

Oh glory be to God!!!!
The church that the Lord had built before He died was getting bigger and bigger.
They had been endued with Holy Ghost and fire so they were doing exploits, doing miracles and oh glory, the vision was expanding!
However, issues started arising.
Murmurings
Dragging of the feet.
Complaints
Dissatisfactions
Comparison
Some of the greek-speaking followers started complaining that the Jews weren’t taking care of their widows daily.
That’s how the devil crawls in!
Just at that time when the fire is burning so greatly, he tries to crawl in like a snake.
You know how a snake can be living in the same room, within the same bed you sleep on, without you knowing, that’s how that bad guy comes in!
The Bible says he is SUBTLE!
So, this bad guy was literally looking for a way to kill the fire that was spreading.
He wanted them to focus on the tables!
To focus on the widows!
To focus on giving!
To focus on church activities!
To focus on the choir clothes!
To focus on musical instruments in the church.
To focus on something that still looks spiritual at least.
But they should stop the growth of the fire!
He couldn’t bear it!
The heat was too much!
So, he tried to put them off the burning stove!
Let me try to paint an illustration for you so you can get it better.
Let’s assume you are boiling some water in a big pot. What happens when you open the pot?
The heat is terrible!
The bubbles are bubbling indeed!
The fire under the pot is burning!
The water is a danger zone. You dare not put your hand in it! You tell your little children to move away from the zone.
You keep sounding the alarm that water is boiling on the stove so that everyone is aware.
You know what the danger of them coming in contact with the content of that pot would be, hence the warning.
They’d be scalded!
They’d suffer severe burns!
To be able to put your hand in that water, you need to remove it from that fire and allow it cool down!!!
This was the state in which the apostles were as soon as the fire fell upon them.
The devil couldn’t go close.
The snake was uncomfortable around them.
He needed to make the water go cold, or maybe not cold, maybe warm- ayayayayya, so that he could put his hands in it!
The devil doesn’t need you to be cold. Just a little warm. Just a little cooling off. He is fine with that. He can endure that warmth!
Heat is of the Spirit. Coldness is of the devil.
Immediately he is able to successfully introduce a little coldness into the hotness, the guy is fine!
That little coldness has the ability of killing the whole heat!
If you add some cold water in the boiling water, what happens?
It cools off. The bubbles go down. The steam blowing at your face subsides but give it a few minutes, because it is on the stove, it would pick up again.
So, the guy generally targets the fire!!!!
To either put the fire down or make you bring the pot down from the fire.
So that was what he was doing with the early church.
He wanted them to bring the pot down from the fire and focus on meaningless things!
Just as we have in so many churches today.
There are focuses on meaningless things.
Things of no eternal values!
And even in personal lives.
Many individuals have been brought down from the stove!
So they could attend to other things that aren’t necessarily bad.
In fact, those things might even be good and biblical.
But they don’t have the power to sustain fire, burning or boiling!
Facing academics squarely and having no time for prayer.
Facing my job squarely, there’s no time for fellowship, private or family devotions anymore.
Doing ministry full-force, there’s no time for prayer anymore.
Replying to all the plenty of emails and personal messages coming in, till there’s no time for personal Bible study anymore!
Being busy with leading a unit in the church, till your spiritual altar is covered in ashes.
Doing seemingly good things but leaving the best things undone!
I saw a quote yesterday and how true it is:
If the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from a church today, ninety-five percent of what is done would go on and no one would notice the difference!!!!!
Because it is not immediately you bring the pot down from the fire that the hotness go down!!!
You can bring it down and it would still be bubbling.
You might even still not be able to touch it then.
But give it a few minutes! And the coldness would descend.
A few spiritually sensitive people might start wondering what had gone wrong. Many won’t be able to realize that the fire had gone down since a while, not just the very moment they came back to themselves.
Immediately the apostles realized the trick of the enemy, you know what they did?
They called for a meeting.
You know what?
We are able to love one another in this marriage because of the fire.
We are able to submit as wives to our husbands, because of the fire.
We are able to raise Godly children because of the fire!
We are able to raise the dead back to life because of the fire.
We are able to live above sins because of the fire.
We are able to give sacrificially because of the fire.
These complaints and murmuring would bring the fire down.
So, we cannot afford this!
What we will do is, we will select some able hands that will handle that area for us henceforth!
Note that the apostles didn’t just push all the old mamas into this business.
They didn’t push some unserious Christians into this business.
Because they knew that if unserious people were the ushers, servers, and so on, soon, their coldness would soon infect everyone.
This is a lesson to our churches.
Sensitive places like the children’s churches, the youths’ churches, the kitchen and supermarkets during conferences, the hostel management and so on should be manned by spiritual people!
Not just anyone!
Those are areas where the devil can still come into the camp!
As a family, the areas of you having workers, drivers, cleaners, dressmakers, hair makers, etc should still be prayerfully handled!
Don’t toy with those areas!
The apostles decided that the people to choose for this seemingly ‘small’ tasks of serving daily foods should be:
-men (to signify strength)
-of honest report
-full of the Holy Ghost and
-wisdom
Oh amazing!
This is not where we are going though. I was only trying to show you though that even the areas where the devil was trying to come in from were spiritually handled by the apostles!
After securing the hole in that wall, you know what they decided????
4. THEN WE CAN USE ALL OUR TIME TO PRAY AND TO TEACH THE WORD OF GOD.”
The amplified version of Verse 4 says:
4. But we will [continue to] devote ourselves [steadfastly] to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
Prayer!
The ministry of the Word!
The woods that the Holy Spirit looks for on every altar so He could send fire there!
That’d burn!!!!
I like that verse two so well:
‘It would not be right for us to give up our work of teaching God’s word in order to be in charge of getting food to people.
Prayer and the ministry of the word!’
Yeah, it won’t be right for us to neglect our private devotion time because of whatever reason!
Ko right rara!
Ko make any sense!
So, let the able hands handle that area while we continue to give ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word!!!!!
Gbam!
The snake hissed loud and long!
The stove burned louder and happier!
The pot was so sacred, no nonsense lizard could go close.
And the bubbles did bubble!!!
Ayayayyayayaya
And nothing could touch the switch!
You know what happened afterwards?
7 And the message of God kept on growing and spreading, and the number of disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem; and a large number of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith [accepting Jesus as Messiah and acknowledging Him as the Source of eternal salvation].
The fire fell!
Fresh fire from on high!
And more than ever before, there was increase, fruitfulness, growth!!!!
Halleluyah!!!
Glory be to God!
Lovely sisters, what is that thing threatening your DAILY devotion with God????
That thing is an enemy of your growth!
Of your fire!
Of your fruitfulness!
Of your purpose!
Of your increase!
Of your life!
Even if that thing is promising you name or position or certificate or award or marriage or a child or WHATEVER!!!!!
As long as it tampers with your DAILY, PRIVATE UNINTERRUPTED DEVOTION with God, it is a fire killer!!!!
But until all is laid on the altar, the fire will not fall!!!!!
Until all your ambitions, your love, your pride, your daily routine, your ‘in the next five years’ plans, your emotions, your EVERYTHING is laid on the altar of daily, PRIVATE, PERSONAL devotion, the fire will not fall, sisters!!!!
The devil knows it!
And he keeps giving you toys to distract you from the eternal joys!
And he keeps winning, unfortunately!
You need to shed those weights off!
Hebrews 12:1-2 says:
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight…… and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
Weights aren’t necessarily sins!
They are just unnecessary loads we have put upon our own heads by ourselves so it can look like we are doing something.
One terrible thing about weight is, you’d be sweating and pulling and your veins would be so obvious, pulsating fast as the blood rush through. Everyone would be saying ‘Oh well done!’
‘Oh fire!’
‘Oh brimstone!’
‘Oh thunder!’
Not knowing it is just some fireless chaff you are carrying around!
Travel light, Christian!
Travel light!
And begin to run the race set before you!
Truth be told, Heavenly Race is run privately!
It is not the one you do on the pulpit. That is not what we will use to judge your heavenly race.
Heavenly race is the one you do on your knees ALONE, when no one is watching you.
The one you do in your family. With your husband and your children. Naked like that! How you treat them. How you live with them. That is Heavenly race!
Your obeying the scriptures!
And fulfilling the ‘little’ or ‘big’ purpose YOU ARE SURE the Lord has called you to.
That’s the heavenly race!
Let’s lay the weights on the altar, trim off the ones that need to go, do division of labor for the ones that can be prayerfully handled by others and face our ALTARS!
The altar that will keep speaking after we are gone!
Let’s keep infusing fire in it!
Let it burn!
That all who come behind us would be able to call us faithful!

God cannot be bribed by our activities!!!!!
He cannot be bribed!!!
Those things can blind man, but not God!
This is the person dealing with our hearts!
The hearts that only He can see!
This is why you’d hear David said ‘Search me oh Lord and see if there is anything contrary to You in me’
I may know of some.
Maybe the anger or the intolerance or the irritation or the pride.
What of the evil intention and motives and subtle envy and all that????
Search me oh Lord and see if there is anything contrary to you in me.
Take them all off and reveal them to me!
The God who sees the heart that noone sees should be feared!
He cannot be deceived!
He cannot be mocked!
Luke 10:41 says But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are getting worried and upset about too many things.
42. ONLY ONE THING IS IMPORTANT. Mary has made the right choice, and it will never be taken away from her.”
Ayayayayayyayayayaya
Thanks, sweet Martha for being so interested in working for Me and serving Me and fulfilling My purpose. I appreciate.
But one thing is needful.
Having time for Me!
That is one of my love languages.
Give me quality time and let me talk, you listen and respond back to Me.
Quit being so busy doing nothing!!!!
Mary has chosen that. Nothing can snatch that from her!
Oh Lord!
This is why the Scriptures talk about trying works with fire.
Oh, many works won’t endure the fire!
Because they are chaffs!
They are weights!
Because no be God send you!
Or, na God send you but you dey do am without fire! Coldness don take over.
LAY HOLD ON YOUR ALTAR AGAIN!
PUSH ASIDE THE DISTRACTIONS!
Sit at His feet EVERY DAY!
Learn of Him EVERY DAY!
Obey His leading EVERY DAY!
He says ‘Don’t say that’. You obey.
He says ‘Apologize to the one who has wronged you’. You obey!
He says ‘Give all that salary to that church or ministry’. You obey.
He says ‘Fast all through tomorrow.’. You obey.
He says ‘Don’t pick that guy’s call. Delete his number. Block him. He’s a threat to your holiness’. You obey!
The little things, you obey.
The big things, you obey!
The hard things, you obey!
The simple things, you obey!
Ahhhhhhhh, you have won His heart!!!
He will be able to guard you from addictions and sexual sins.
He’d be able to lead you in marriage.
He’d be able to speak to you.
He’d be able to use you.
But first, God would not invest in nonsense!
The nonsense on the altar must go!
The weighty chaff must be burnt off!
The pot must be placed back on the stove!
The daily devotion plan must be adhered to!
The enemies of the daily devotion must be destroyed!
The ‘good’ enemies of your devotion must be checked and put in the right place, in the correct hands.
God needs your time!
Your attention!
Your devotion!
Your obedience!
And then, the fire will fall!

NOW, LET US PRAY!
Begin to worship the Lord for His Word.
Tell Him all that You have learned from the message today.
Tell Him you are sorry for the fire killers and the weights you have realized in your life.
Ask Him to reveal the ones you haven’t seen yet that keeps leaking fire out of your life. Ask Him to reveal them. Ask Him over and over again.
Now, keep quiet and listen. If your heart tries to stray, pull it back and command it to listen to the Voice of its Master. Now, bow before the Lord and LISTEN. Make sure the Lord speaks to you before you move on in this prayer. DON’T BE IN A HURRY or you won’t hear Him. He can’t be hurried! Keep quiet, bow and listen!!!

Dear Lord Jesus, first of all, thank you for being so welcoming and desirous of my fellowship.
Not only do I have access to your throne of grace 24/7, it’s you who greets me there!
I’m never a bother, I am never “put on hold,” never do I have to “take a number and wait.”
I’d never meet a tired and frustrated You, because you’re always the Bridegroom who delights in and rejoices over his Bride.
Oh hallelujah, Saviour!
Hallelujah my Redeemer!
Lord, I live in a “Martha” world of many distractions, never-ending demands, and over-stimulation.
Lord Jesus, help me! (7x)
Help me cultivate a Mary heart in this Martha world, Father.
You are the “one thing worth being concerned about”, Lord! Help me so You become my one desire! My one ambition! Oh Lord!!
I submit my “must get done list” to You, oh Lord! Please trim it! Burn the weights off. Change my appetite. Refocus my longings.
Help me to live from today, a life that is unhurried, quiet, surrendered, and at Your feet, oh Daddy!
Lord, do not allow me to allow the Devil put off the fire on my altar in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ (Dwell on this for a while)
Jesus, deliver my altar from ashes and negligence in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ!!!

Father, fill me with an insatiable hunger for you.
Fill me with a craving that nothing else can quench. A craving that no one else can satisfy.
Let there be a deep longing within my soul that seeks out for you alone.
I yearn for more of your presence that is capable of setting my soul on fire.
Holy Spirit, I will not run out of deep encounters that will fan me to flames.
There shall be no limit to my spiritual appetite, until that ultimate union when I eventually see you face to face.
There shall be no limit to my connection with you.
Begin to list the things you’ve noticed in your life that you need discipline on, that contribute to your lukewarmness. (Food, sleep, dressing, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, pride of life? Netflix? Gossip sites? Boyfriend? Courtship? Pregnancy? PhD? Thesis? Church position? Social Media? Ministry? Purpose? Child-raiding? Pleasure for the things that have no eternal value?
Now pray: Trim me off these things that kill my fire, oh Lord!
Teach me how to deal with the ones that I cannot throw away, Daddy!
Father!!!(7x) realign my desires to the things of eternal value and heavenly gain from this day on.
Oh Lord, I ask for grace for discipline upon my life in the Mighty Name of Jesus
Daddy, surround me with the company of people that are set on fire for God.
Henceforth, I will not find myself among firefighters in the Mighty Name of Jesus!
Firefighters. Firekillers. Fireswallowers of my life, bow before the knee of the Lord. You will no longer rule over me. I take authority over you henceforth in the Mighty Name of Jesus.
Holy Spirit, disconnect me from every relationship that is causing my spiritual life to sink in desolation.
Spirit of God, order my steps to the right atmosphere for my spiritual life.
I am no longer comfortable with lukewarmness, Lord. I want to burn for you!
Father, reveal your greater and eternal plan to me, that I may be aligned to it.
Help me to live my life faithfully, diligently, dedicatedly, devotedly, devoutly, on fire!
Oh may all we come behind me find me faithful!
I will not be cheated out of the benefits of burning for you.
Fill me up, Lord with Your fire, till I receive an overflow!
Continue to pray in the spirit, sisters. Pray with reckless abandon, until you feel the release.
Pray over the requests in your journal.
