Theme: WIELDING THE SPIRIT’S SWORD
Ephesians 6 vs 12 -17:
“We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shieldd of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”
Hello sisters. I hope we have been enjoying ourselves in the presence of God.
Today is another beautiful day and I pray that as we pray, the Almighty God will listen and answer.
What does wielding mean?
WIELDING means EXERCISING
What does the Spirit’s Sword mean?
SPRIRIT’S SWORD means THE WORD OF GOD
So, WIELDING THE SPIRIT’S SWORD = EXERCISING THE WORD OF GOD
How often do you exercise the Word of God?
When you face troubles, challenges, situations that seem overwhelming, what do you do?
Give up?
Seek for earthly solutions?
Or exercise the Word of God?
We seem to be ignorant of how powerful the Word of God is.
The power of God’s Word cannot be overemphasized.
It is the sword of the spirit.
We all know what a sword is, right?
Physically, when a fighter goes to a battle ground, he does not forget his sword, he never leaves it behind. His sword helps him attack right, it aids his victory when exercised.
Spiritually now, that Sword is God’s Word, it aids victory when exercised.
Having the sword is good, knowing how to use it is great but is it an extension of us that it becomes our normal response to draw out the sword and use it in the midst of an attack?
We must allow the sword to be who we are and not just an accessory or an outfit.
David tested an armour, it wasn’t convenient for him, he had to depend on what he knew- the Sword of the Spirit!
Swords are basically used for fighting. It is either used to wage a war or defend. This instrument is used and handled by a soldier who has been well trained and found fit for the battle.
A sword is the most important instrument for a soldier because it determines if he leaves there alive or if he dies. So, they must be sharp .
The wonderful thing about this Sword is that it has been tested over and over again. In our lives and in the lives of those saints who have gone before us. Even Jesus proved it in the wilderness.
The sword of the spirit is quick and powerful, it is sharper than any two-edged sword. (Heb 4: 12)
“We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”.
Can we then wrestle against all these with a sword made of steel? No! the sword of the spirit is our weapon because the weapon of our warfare is not carnal!
Memorizing scripture is a great thing to do. But it is only a small part of wielding the sword of the spirit.
We need to be so surrendered to the Lord that the Word of God isn’t just in our memory; it needs to be transforming who we are, how we think and change the defaults in our lives.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Rom. 12:2
FEW OF THE THINGS THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT DOES WHEN WIELDED.
It helps overcome temptation
Jesus was tempted, after 40 days of prayer and fasting. Not once, not twice but thrice,three times! You know what Jesus did- He drew out the sword of the spirit.
- Defence/Protection
Proverbs 30 vs 5 (TLB) says “Every word of God proves true. He defends all who come to Him for protection”
2. Gives direction
Psalms 119 vs 105 says “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”
Feet are ordered because His word is a lamp for them, your path is seen because His word lightens the path
LET US PRAY
Every spirit of distraction, I come against you! I am here for serious business and you have no place here.
Ask God for forgiveness of sin. Tell him to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
Begin to worship God, appreciate Him for who he is, thank Him, glorify Him, adore Him. Thank Him for creation

Thank you Lord for July because it is full of juices for me and my sisters
Thank you Lord for speaking to me today, I confess that I have not been exercising your word enough. Please help me to use effectively the sword of the spirit.
Lord, I surrender myself to you completely so that your word isn’t only in my memory; but it is also transforming who I am, how I think and also changing the defaults in my life
.
NOW WE WANT TO PRAY USING THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT (THE WORD OF GOD)
Because it is written in your word that when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of God will raise a standard against him. Every enemy whose plan is to come into my July, let your spirit begin to lift up a standard against him.
In this July, I come against every spirit of fear that may stand as an hindrance between me and my blessing. Your word says you have not given me the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of sound mind. I am free from fears, worries, anxieties in Jesus name
In this July, according to your word, Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul. Let them be turned backward and put to confusion that desire my hurt.
Your word says that where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. In this July, Lord Jesus help me to be free indeed!
You word says that henceforth, no man should trouble. In this July, I decree that henceforth, no man should trouble me because I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
Your word says that you shall fight for me and I will hold my peace. In this July, daddy come and fight for me. (Exodus 14:14)
Your word says that you giveth power to the faint and to them that have no might, you increaseth strength. In this July, daddy increase my strength, release power unto me.(Isaiah 40:29)
You said that they that wait upon you shall renew their strength,they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Lord! As I wait upon you this July, renew my strength, help me to mount up with wings as eagles, I want to run and not be weary, I want to walk and not faint.(Isaiah 40:31)
Your word says in Isaiah 43:2 that when I pass through the waters, you will be with me and through the rivers, they will not overflow me: you said when I walk through the fire, I will not be burned neither shall the flame kindle upon me. In this July and afterward, let this be my portion in Jesus name.
I stand with your word and I declare that in this July, no weapon formed against me shall prosper and every tongue that shall rise against me in judgment shall thou condemn(Isaiah 54:17)
In this July, I decree that the spirit of the Lord God is upon me (Isaiah 61:1)
Your word says that if any of us lack wisdom, we should ask you and you will give. In this July, give me wisdom, wisdom that transcends.(James 1:5)
James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you”. Lord I submit totally to you, you own me! Devil! I laugh at you, you have no place with me. I resist you now in Jesus name and as you here my voice now, begin to flee!
Your plans for me in this July are those of good and not of evil to give me an expected end in Jesus name
In this July, Lord I ask that you supply all my needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Phillipians 4:19)
In this month, even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no evil, because you are with me(Ps. 23:4)
In this month Lord, let all things work together for my good because I love you and I am called according to your purpose. (Romans 8:28)
The Lord is coming through for me. (Repeat prayerfully till you feel a satisfaction in your heart.
Start these confessions from your heart. Believe.
1) Read prayerfully: Luke 10:19;1 John 5:18; Colossians 1:13 and read aloud to yourself.
Confession: I walk in your Godly Kingdom today, for Jesus has destroyed Satan’s kingdom in my life.
Satan, I command you to stop your manuevers in my life. I bind you and cast you out of my life today. You cannot touch me.
Jesus is Lord of my spirit, soul, body, relationships, circumstances, finances and ministry from now and even unto the end in the Name of Jesus.
2) Read aloud the following verses:/2 Corinthians 2:14; Philippians 4:13; 1 John 5:4
Confession: I walk in total triumph in every situation for Jesus has destroyed failure in my life.
I am an overcomer and can do all things through Christ. I have the victory, and the victory has me! I am a victor and a king!
3) (Read the following verses loudly: Ephesians 2:6; 1 John 4:4)
Confession: I reign from my heavenly throne-room position for Jesus has destroyed an inferior position in my life. I rule and reign with Jesus today. Greater is He that is in me that he that is in the world. Father, You are Lord of heaven and earth, and we go out and possess the land today. Satan’s doors are closed, and many doors are open for me to speak Your Word boldly.
4) (Read 2 Timothy 1:7; 1 Corinthians 2:16; John 10:5; )
Confession: I walk in soundness of mind and divine direction, for Jesus has destroyed confusion in my life. I identify with Christ’s mind. I have the mind of Christ. I will not listen to the voice of doubt and discouragement.
5) (Read1 Peter 2:24; 2 Peter 2:24; Matthew 8:17)
Confession: I walk in divine health, for Jesus has conquered sickness in my life. I walk in divine health and divine life, because I have the divine nature. Jesus took all my sickness upon His body, and by His suffering, I am healed. Divine health pulsates through every cell of my body everyday. Sickness and disease cannot and will not latch itself to my body.
6) (Read Philippians 4:19; Matthew 18:18; Proverbs 13:22)
Confession: I walk in financial abundance. God supplies all my needs – not half of them – ALL of them. Satan, take your hands off of my finances. Finances, I command you to be loosed from the world system, and placed at my account today so I can do the work of the Lord.
7) (Luke 4:18; Isaiah 61; 1 Corinthians 12)
Confession: Father, Your anointing is on me today. It breaks yokes off the oppressed, causes blind eyes to see, deaf ears to hear, hearts to open and understand. It causes the sick to be healed, needs to be met, and it draws attention to Your Word. Father, Your Word is alive in me today! Revelation knowledge flows out of me everyday. I operate in the gifts of the Spirit as the Spirit wills today.
8) (Read Psalm 91:7Isaiah 54:17; Luke 10:19)
Confession: I walk in safety and supernatural protection today. Even though a thousand fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand, it shall not come near me. No weapon that the enemy forms against me today shall prosper. Nothing shall by any means hurt me today.
9) (Read 1 Peter 5:7)
Confession: I walk in faith today, for Jesus has taken away fear and doubt in my life. Fear will not rule me – faith will! Whatever is not of faith is sin, so I speak words of life. Today, I cast all my cares on Christ. I will go throughout the day worry free. I choose to meditate on the promises, and not the problem. As I cast my cares on Christ today, I will magnify God’s Word in all that I do.
10) (Read John 6:63 )
Confession: I will speak life today for Jesus has destroyed a murmuring and complaining tongue in my life. My tongue will speak forth words of life today. My words will produce spiritual life in the hearts of men and women.
