PRAYER BULLETIN FOR FRIDAY, 28TH MAY, 2021

FOCUS: THE PAULINE PRAYERS

We bless God for another privilege to come together to pray today. Today, we would be doing something different from the usual. We would be praying some Pauline prayers.

One of the most effective ways to pray is by engaging God’s word. It is one easy way to get our hearts aligned with God in prayer. You can’t go wrong when you pray the word because you’re not making it up; you’re not fine-tuning anything; you’re saying it as it is.

In the New Testament, we’d find many instances where Paul said different kinds of prayers. Taking a close look at these prayers, you will observe that they are very relevant even to us as believers in this dispensation.

My intentional interaction with the Pauline prayers in recent times have been enriching, enlightening and refreshing. They border on important aspects of our Christian walk and living. These prayers are laced with gratitude, love, selflessness and a desire for God’s will to find expression in our lives as believers, both individually and collectively.

I want to encourage that even after now, you spend some time on Pauline prayers daily. The more you pray them, the more enlightened your heart will get and the more you’ll become in tune with your reality in Christ.

HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT IT?

i. Read the verses.
ii. Meditate on them and draw out the prayer foci which could be for yourself, others, the body of Christ, etc.
iii. Pray.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Spend some quality time in worship.
Confess your faults and failings to God.
Ask Him to open the eyes of your heart and strengthen you to pray.

 

SHALL WE?

1. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world. God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by Godโ€™s will the way may be opened for me to come to you. [Romans 1:8โ€“10]

2. Brothers, my heartโ€™s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. [Romans 10:1]

3. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. [Romans 15:5โ€“6]

4. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. [Romans 15:13]

5. I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every wayโ€” in all your speaking and in all your knowledgeโ€”because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. [1 Corinthians 1:4โ€“9]

6. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. [2 Corinthians 1:3โ€“4]

7. But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.
[2 Corinthians 2:14]

8. Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong. Not that people will see that we have stood the test but that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong; and our prayer is for your perfection. [2 Corinthians 13:7โ€“9]

9. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. [Ephesians 1:3]

10. For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. [Ephesians 1:15โ€“19]

11. For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledgeโ€”that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. [Ephesians 3:14โ€“21]

12. I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. [Philippians 1:3โ€“6]

13. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christโ€”to the glory and praise of God. [Philippians 1:9โ€“11]

14. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [Phil. 4:6โ€“7]

15. For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. [Colossians 1:3โ€“14]

16. We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. [1 Thessalonians 1:2โ€“3]

17. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones. [1 Thessalonians 3:9โ€“13]

18. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. [1 Thessalonians 5:23โ€“24]

19. With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. [2 Thessalonians 1:11โ€“12]

20. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. [2 Thessalonians 2:16โ€“17]

21. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into Godโ€™s love and Christโ€™s perseverance. [2 Thessalonians 3:2โ€“5]

22. Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. [2 Thessalonians 3:16]

23. I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyoneโ€”for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. [1 Timothy 2:1-4]

24. I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints. [Philemon 4โ€“7]

REMEMBER, IT SHOULDN’T END HERE. INCORPORATING SOME VERSES INTO YOUR DAILY QUIET TIME/PRAYER ROUTINE WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA. TRY IT OUT.
