Theme: Reclaiming Biblical Womanhood
“Men and women are equal in worth, distinct by design, and glorious together.”
– The BUD Family Africa

Is this such a wonderful quote?
Yes, take a little pause and check it out again.
First, it is worthy to note that there is a male and the female. The man and the woman. Oh yes!
In creation, there are always two of every kind, either male or female (Genesis 5:2; 6:20). A random look at each kind’s male and female reveals very clear distinctions of what makes the male of this kind and the female of this kind. When you see a he goat, you know, when you see a she-goat, it is clear!
The peculiarities in each make each stand out and respected for what it contributes to the continual progeny of its kind.
Humanity is no different. There is the male and the female and the uniqueness of each contributes to the beauty and systematic running of the world today. The biological and emotional differences of the two genders (amongst other things) leaves one in awe at the intentionality of the Creator in bringing perfection in the coming together of various strengths and weaknesses.
The Bible makes it clear that manliness and womanliness are meant to complement each other. The absence of one party leaves a huge vacuum that the presence of the other cannot sufficiently fill. This is where the beauty of human existence lies, inter-dependence where none is more valuable than the other.
The absence of one party leaves a huge vacuum that the presence of the other cannot sufficiently fill.
Next, the quote says the genders are equal in worth. This means that men and women carry the same value before God. Both are made in the image and likeness of God. Neither is more human, more spiritual, or more precious than the other.
God did not make the woman inferior to the man nor the man to the woman. Instead each was made in the image of God and in His likeness to have dominion in the created earth. Jesus laid down His life for both men and women to make both one with Him and to become His Bride. That establishes that there is equal access to God because both the male and female gender are of equal value to Him. He spilled no less blood for one compared to the other (Galatians 3:28).
Both were bought with the same price (1 Corinthians 6:20a), been given the same seal of confirmation by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14), being made co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8;17) and will also partake of His glorious return. (Revelations 19:11-16). Glory!
Next it says, ‘distinct by design’. Oh yes, man and woman are the same in worth and value but equal does not mean sameness. Male and female were shaped differently in body, temperament, calling, and responsibility, not by accident but by intention. Difference was not introduced by the fall. It was present in creation and declared good. God did not create one generic human and then split it. He created male and female on purpose, with differences that are intentional, meaningful, and good. These distinctions are not cultural accidents or limitations. They are part of God’s wisdom, shaping how men and women think, lead, nurture, protect, and serve.
To be distinct by design is to accept that God knew exactly what He was doing when He made man as man and woman as woman. Their differences are not obstacles to overcome but gifts to steward. They are meant to work together, not compete, not compare, not interchange, but to complement one another according to God’s wisdom.
And lastly, it says ‘glorious together’. This means that God’s full picture is not seen in isolation. When a woman is acting like a man or the man is acting like a woman or one is playing the role of two, the glory of God is not seen at all. But when men and women walk in their God given roles, their differences harmonize. Like two parts of one whole, they reveal something of God’s nature that neither could display alone. Strength and gentleness, leadership and help, initiative and responsiveness come together to display beauty, order, and fruitfulness. Oh how amazing!
This understanding should therefore inform the necessity of intentionally embracing womanliness as it is presented by God.
When womanliness is resisted or rejected, it only reveals a misunderstanding of the Scriptural truths concerning a woman’s value and worth.
The fight against manhood or desire to be a man by many women today does not arise because womanhood is weak. It arises because womanhood has not been rightly understood or rightly honored.
Where the Scriptures are known and believed, there is no need to rival what God has assigned to another, because a woman is already fully established in what God has given her.
There is nowhere in God’s eternal agenda where a woman is sidelined, diminished, or treated as inferior. From creation, through redemption, and into glory, women are central to God’s purposes. God does not borrow dignity from man to give to woman. He bestows it directly. A woman does not need to abandon her God given design to be valuable. Her worth was settled by God long before culture began to argue about it.
To embrace womanliness, then, is not submission to limitation, but alignment with divine wisdom. It is choosing to trust that what God designed is not only sufficient, but glorious. Halleluyah!
