God Actually Needs You in Captivity!

God Actually Needs You in Captivity!

Yes, God actually needs you, needs me, needs Godly women, men, children in captivity! This is something I am saying, high in sense, high in Spirit, sis. This is no clickbait, we don’t do that here by His Grace.

And before you recoil at that sentence, before fear rises in your heart and you ask, “What kind of God wants people in captivity?”, let us get down into it.

Understanding Captivity…

Captivity is the way of this world actually. It is either you are in captivity or…..erm….

You are in captivity!

There is no two way about it!

There is no neutral ground. There is no open field where you are answerable to nobody. It is either you are in captivity or you are in captivity. There is no third option. There is no middle lane.

There is no ‘freedom’ the exact way we humans define freedom!

Everyone is owned. Everyone is held. Everyone is being directed by something or someone.

The question is not whether you are captive. The question is who is holding you captive.

Let me tell you the story of Bingo the dog.

Bingo, the Dog

There was a dog named Bingo.

Bingo lived in a very lovely family. He had a father, a mother, and siblings all around him. He was living freely in their house. Everything was going on well.

One of these days, Bingo and his siblings went out on a stroll. They were just sniffing around, moving freely, doing what dogs do. And then Bingo got carried away by a particular smell. He kept wondering what kind of smell that was. It was strong. It was different.

So he decided to trace it.

His siblings kept calling him back, but Bingo told them he could perceive turkey, that he would be back. He followed the smell a little farther, and that was when he saw a man. The man was holding turkey bones, using them to attract him.

The turkey bone was hot. Steam was rising from it. The smell was so strong it almost blindfolded him. Bingo could not look away. The man let him taste it. As soon as Bingo tasted it, he wanted more. It was too much for him to resist.

He took a bite. Then another bite. And another.

And before he knew it, by the time he lifted his head properly, what he heard was the clanging sound of iron. The sound of a gate shutting.

Bingo had been abducted. Kidnapped. Thrown into a cage.

.

.

.

God Actually Needs You in Captivity!

Bingo stood still. The cage was small. Smaller than the space he had just come from. The smell of iron was heavy. The ground beneath him was hard. He looked around, confused, still chewing the last bit of turkey in his mouth, still wondering how a stroll had turned into this.

Then the man returned.

At the beginning, he brought food. More bones. More meat. He pushed them into the cage and watched Bingo eat. And for a moment, Bingo thought this was strange, but manageable. At least he was still eating. At least the hunger was quiet.

But the man changed.

The visits began to feel different. And one day, without warning, the man struck him hard. Bingo yelped. He did not understand it. He backed away, trembling.

He would beat him. Tear him. Wound him. Skin opened. Blood dropped to the floor. Bingo would curl up in pain, not understanding what he had done wrong. And there was no food after that.  Just pain and hunger sitting together with him in the cage.

And then, one day, a man came and stood outside the cage, holding a chain towards Bingo.

A chain?

Just as soon as Bingo would try to reason if this was bondage or freedom, the other man would appear.

Immediately.

And he would always come with food. Big food. Large chunks of meat. Shiny bones. Thrown quickly into the cage, almost desperately. As if to block the sight of the man outside. As if to keep Bingo’s eyes low. As if to say, don’t look there, look here.

And it happened every time!

Whenever that man with the chain showed up, the meat followed. Whenever the chain appeared, the bones came flying in. And the man who owned him would shout and warn him. He would point at the chain and say it was dangerous. He would say it would bind him. He would say Bingo was better off where he was.

So Bingo stayed.

Hungry most of the time. Hurt most of the time. Fed only when the man came.

Days passed like that. Pain. Crumbs. Silence. Then suddenly, meat again, always tied to the presence of the man outside the cage.

Slowly, something began to form in Bingo’s mind. Something he could not yet explain.

He began to notice that the food did not come because he was loved. It came because someone else had arrived.

What could this mean?

Who is this man?

Why is he with a chain?

Why does my owner fret s much that he brings me delicacies only at his sight?

Those questions stayed with him for so long.

The next time the man with the chain came, Bingo noticed the way his owner moved. Too fast. Too alert. His hands shook as he threw the meat in. He did not look at Bingo the way he used to. His eyes kept darting outward. Toward the chain.

Bingo stayed still.

The meat landed near him. Big. Fresh. Steaming. The smell filled the cage. It was hard not to move. But Bingo lifted his head instead. Just slightly. Enough to see.

The man with the chain had not moved. He stood where he always stood. Calm. Waiting. The chain rested in his hand. Loose. Unforced.

The owner shouted. ‘Eat your meat now! It’s delicious! I spiced it with some oregano as you like it’

He moved closer to the cage ferociously. He pointed and warned Bingo about the man outside again- and his chains!

His voice was louder this time. Sharper. And Bingo looked into his eyes, clearly, fearlessly this time.

The shouting of his captor was fear.

Wow!

That was the first time Bingo felt it.

‘Come, Bingo!’ The man with the chain said and Bingo’s heart skipped.

‘He called my name? He knows my name?’

He stood up slowly. The captor froze. Meat flew in faster. More and more. Bones landed closer to the front of the cage, almost forming a wall. Almost blocking the way.

Bingo pushed them aside with his paws and stepped around them.

His body hurt. His legs trembled. But he moved anyway. One step. Then another. The shouting of the captor grew louder and his movements became wild.

The man with the chain stayed where he was.

Waiting.

Bingo reached the front of the cage.

‘How do I open this now?’ He thought.

Bingo leaned forward and pushed the gate slightly.

The iron shifted…..The door gave way.

Bingo stopped.

‘What? Just like that? It was never really lok=’

Nothing struck him. Nothing grabbed him. The cage did not fight him. It simply opened.

The shouting stopped.

The man with the chain stepped forward, came close and stretched the chain out again.

Bingo looked at it. Really looked at it this time. And that was when he saw it. The chain was fastened to the man’s wrist.

‘You want my chain? It’s tied to me, don’t worry, no one can come take you away without my permission. Just say yes’ He seemed to say gently.

Bingo’s tears flowed. Something just made him believe this man. He bowed his neck.

The man bent down slowly, knelt beside him and placed it around his neck.

The chain rested there easily. Then he placed a hand on his back, patting him, steadying him. He then brought out a small box, opened it, and began to tend to his wounds. He cleaned them carefully and dressed them gently.

God Actually Needs You in Captivity!

The man spoke to him softly, calling him by name, calling him sweet names. He held him. He wiped over him with care.

Behind them, the captor lost control.

From inside the cage, he shouted and raged. “That’s mine, Good man! That’s mine! You have no right to take him away! He belongs to me!”

The man did not respond. He only smiled.

He lifted Bingo into his arms and carried him away.

.

.

.

He brought him into a large place. Like a palace. Life was going on there. People were moving around. Some were serving food. Some were singing joyfully. Some were laughing. Some were picking things up and putting things away. It felt busy. It felt alive.

Bingo was set down gently into a room.

Meat was there. Real food. Different kinds. Grilled. Fried. Boiled. Prepared in ways he had never known.

‘Take your time to eat. Welcome home, Bingo’ The man said again.

Bingo began to eat. Slowly at first. Then more freely. Tears fell as he ate.

After a while, he looked around and began to look closely at people. One person passed by and Bingo paused. He looked again. And then Bingo noticed it.

Chains.

On their necks.

Just like his.

Not tight. Not heavy. Not hidden. Easy. Natural. As if they had always been there. As if it was not a burden at all.

Bingo looked down at his own.

It was the same.

And suddenly, without anyone explaining anything…

Without anyone stopping to teach him….

Bingo understood. The chain was not a punishment.

It was not a loss.

It was order!

It was covering!

It was ownership, safety!

They were not trapped but safely held.

And in that holding, they were free to move, to serve, to live, to love, to work with joy. No cages. No fear. Just chains that connected them to the same hand, the same voice, the same direction.

Bingo lifted his head again and looked around the room.

This was home!

God Actually Needs You in Captivity!

Understanding the Captivity of God

Can you see it now?

My sister, see, the Bible never presents a human life that is completely free, self directed, and answerable to no one. From Genesis to Revelation, there are only two realities. You are held by something, and you are obeying someone. Paul says: “Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness” (Romans 6:16).

In other words, you do not become a servant by accident! You become a servant by yielding!

You become a servant by obedience! Ayaaaa

And you are always, sis, daily, yielding to something!

Our Lord Jesus said “Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin” (John 8:34). He did not call sin weakness. He did not call it a phase. He called it bondage!

Peter confirms it when he says, “for by whom a man is overcome, by the same is he brought into bondage.” (2 Peter 2:19). Whatever overcomes you eventually owns you! Whatever commands your obedience becomes your master!

This is why Jesus never promised a life without bondage. He said, “Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me” (Matthew 11:29). That’s captivity! But this yoke is different! He said: “My yoke is easy, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:30).

Jesus has burdens for you and me!

He has yokes for us!

But it is light and easy. Don’t allow the ‘chains’ scare you away from the One who has come to set you free!

This yoke is life-giving. It means you are finally carrying what you were designed to carry.

Even Jesus lived this way. He said, “The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do” (John 5:19). Nothing. That is total submission. That is holy dependence. That is captivity of the will. And yet, no one walked in greater authority than Christ! Ayayayayya…..His surrender did not weaken Him, sis. It empowered Him. It exalted Him!

Paul understood this, which is why he was never ashamed of the language of captivity. He introduced himself as “Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ” (Romans 1:1). He called himself “the prisoner of the Lord” (Ephesians 4:1). Not a prisoner of people. Not a prisoner of circumstances. A prisoner of God. To Paul, captivity was identity.

Salvation in Scripture is never about independence, my dear sis. It is a transfer. The Bible says “Being then made free from sin, you became servants of righteousness” (Romans 6:18). You see? Free from one master, bound to another.

Paul says again that God “has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son” (Colossians 1:13). Delivered from one rule. Brought under another rule. Freedom always leads somewhere. It always leads to a new ownership.

David understood this when he prayed, “O Lord, truly I am Your servant… You have loosed my bonds” (Psalm 116:16). God loosed his bonds, yes, but not into self-rule. He was loosed into belonging. Loosed into service. Loosed into God.

Stop Choosing Satan’s Cage!

Satan’s captivity always comes with glitter. He throws meat at wounds. He feeds addictions. He rewards compromise. He distracts you just enough to keep you seated in bondage while convincing you that God’s chain is the real prison. You want to be free from addictions or prayerlessness and you cry to God.

Then God brings instructions. He says: Don’t watch that. Don’t go there. Don’t call him. Don’t return to that place! Pick your Bible now. Don’t watch one more movie. That book is not Godly.

And you constantly say no to Him! And say ‘Oh, God’s called us to freedom! We are free!’

Yes, free, but not your own kind of freedom. The Word of God has already defined freedom for us!

But Satan comes and says: Hey, take some dirty videos, some gossips, some more movies, some more filthy talks, some immorality, some pride, some envies, you actually are too tired to pray just sleep, some self defence, some unforgiveness, some malice, some unforgiveness, some independence in your decision making etc.

And you say a big YES!

How long do you want to stay in bounds, sis?

Every time God reaches out with His chain, you keep saying no, and almost as soon as you are done crushing turkey bones from Satan, you turn around and cry, “God, where are you? Are you really real?”

Sis, He has been delivering you daily. You just keep choosing the meat!

God’s Goal is Your Captivity!

God’s goal is never to free you so you can roam independently. God’s goal is to free you from Satan so He can capture you for Himself.

James said. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” James 4:7. Notice the order. Submission comes before resistance. If you refuse God’s captivity, you will never defeat Satan’s.

This is why so many believers move from one bondage to another. They are not conquered by God. They are not owned by the Lord. And freedom without ownership always leads to deeper captivity!

That is why Scripture says we children of God are arrows. “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man whose quiver is full of them” Psalm 127. That verse is not just about families. It is about God. We are the arrows in His hand. An arrow does not decide its direction. A weapon does not choose its battle. Jeremiah records God saying, “You are My battle axe and weapons of war” Jeremiah 51:20.

But, my sister….. God cannot wield what He has not conquered!!!

An unconquered believer is a liability in the battlefield. A half surrendered Christian makes God appear weak at the gates. You cannot be a weapon if you insist on autonomy. You cannot be an arrow if you refuse the hand.

Rounding Off…

This is why discipleship matters! Discipleship is where independence dies. Where opinions bow. Where self rule is broken. Where God finally gets permission to possess a human life fully!

Register for the Lilies Set (January-February 2026) of the Woman in His Steps Discipleship Course. It closes tomorrow by His grace. After the closure, the next set comes after Juicy July 2026, in September by His Grace. Take up this opportunity!

So, that was by the way. If you are desperate to belong to God, you will become desperate to break free from Satan. But if you are content with Satan’s glitter, you will always resist God’s grip!

So this is the call.

Stop asking God to free you so you can be in control again. Ask Him to captivate you. Imprison you. Bind you to Himself. Take over your will. Take over your desires. Take over your choices. Because the only safe captivity is His!

The cage door has always been open. The chain has always been extended. The question is whose captivity you will choose?

“Now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life” Romans 6:22.

Such a timely message this morning. (I’m in America) This would explain why the warfare has intensified in my life. When you explained the enemy throwing more meat into the cage out of fear because of the dogs decision to keep his eyes on his true owner and not take the bait, it reminds me of myself. God has changed me a lot the past few months but as of recently the warfare has intensified and I sense that the enemy wants me to go backwards and he’s using this same tactic. I thank you for sharing this message as a reminder to keep my eyes on God, to be still and know that he is God, and to surrender completely. I rather be bound to God than to Satan any day.

Glory to God for this great resolution you have made. We must never loose the consciousness of our desperate need for God otherwise the enemy will bring his own realities before us to make us feel he is all we need. Stay glued to Christ beloved Sister.
