FREEDOM FROM THE EGYPT THAT BINDS

The Lord had great plans for the children of Israel but there they were, stuck in the middle of Egypt! The Egypt that their fathers, Jacob, Joseph and his brothers had brought them into! These men were long dead but their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren were still there, struggling and laboring in the Egypt they were brought into.

The children of the King were there in slavery to the sons of bondage!

The children of the promise were there hopeless and helpless, serving the accursed people of Egypt!

The head had become a tail!

ECHOES OF TRUTH

The beginning had become the end!

The beautiful had become the ugly!

The loved had become the hated!

The very children of the Lord were far from freedom. They were far from rest. They were enslaved and it seemed as though no one could rescue them from the great hands of the great pharaoh!

Slavery is such a bad thing. When we are slaves to something, it rudely takes our time, our peace, rest, joy, energy, talent- everything- without any apology. It will even take these good things from us and still expect us to say ‘Thank you!’ as if it was doing us any privilege at all.

Slavery!

Similarly, many Christians are still in Egypt today. The Egypt that is not making them serve the Lord well. Egypt is inhibiting their growth in all ramifications. Oh Egypt!

TOPIC: FREEDOM FROM THE EGYPT THAT BINDS

SCRIPTURE READING: EXODUS 19:4

BIBLE READING:

FREE INDEED FROM EGYPT

Not everyone who walks around free is actually free! To even shock you, everyone is under one yoke or the other! Oh yes! There is no one walking on the streets of this world who is totally free. Well, before you think I am being heretic, let me show you from the Scriptures:

Matthew 11:28-30 says:

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

See? You are either carrying the yokes and burdens of this world/Satan or you are bearing the yokes and burdens of the Saviour!

And no matter how we try to see it, the majority of the whole world hasn’t entered into the soulish rest promised in the verse above. Majority are still laboring under the tasking, heavy, slavish bondages, burdens and yokes of Egypt- of the Devil!

Today, we shall not only be free, we shall be free indeed in the mighty Name of Jesus!

Now, personalize that:

Today, I shall not only be free, I shall be free indeed in the mighty Name of Jesus!

Today, my family shall not only be free, we shall be free indeed in the mighty Name of Jesus!

Let’s go through some signs that can indicate you are in a state of spiritual bondage, drawing from various teachings in the Bible. If you find any here to which you can relate, you need freedom! You need to be free indeed!

SIGNS YOU ARE STUCK IN EGYPT/SPIRITUAL BONDAGES:

1. When Sin Becomes a Master

When a person finds themselves returning again and again to the same sins, be it lust, addiction, anger, greed, or deceit, it is not just weakness. It is bondage. Egypt is a place where sin becomes Pharaoh, and you become its slave. Jesus said, “Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin.” (John 8:34). The lady who once ruled over her desires now bows to them. The sister who once loved holiness now hides in shame. Bondage makes you repeat what you hate, cry over what you just did, and yet do it again tomorrow. It keeps you busy making bricks with no straw, laboring hard but never free.

2. When Fear and Unbelief Chain the Heart

Many believers are still in Egypt because fear holds their faith hostage. Fear of failure, fear of demons, fear of lack, fear of death, everything just keeps the heart from resting in God’s promises. Sis, unbelief builds invisible walls that keep one from entering the Promised Land. The Israelites saw the Red Sea part, yet they still doubted God in the wilderness. When you can’t trust His Word, when you pray but secretly expect disappointment, you are still in Egypt. Fear whispers louder than faith, and God’s voice becomes faint. “They could not enter in because of unbelief.” (Hebrews 3:19).

Also Pray: Kill this sin before it kills you!

3. When Pride, Bitterness, and Unforgiveness Take Root

Egypt is not only a land of chains but of hardened hearts. Pharaoh’s story repeats itself in every proud and unforgiving soul. Oh yes, when pride is rooted in you, you have the gene of Pharaoh, ah, God have mercy! Pride blinds. Unforgiveness poisons. Bitterness keeps you reliving the offense again and again until joy dies. When you refuse to release people who hurt you, you bind yourself to the same prison as they. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. The one who will not kneel cannot rise. Until you forgive, Egypt will still smell like home to you.

The one who will not kneel cannot rise.

4. When Spiritual Fire Grows Cold

Sometimes bondage looks ordinary and not dramatic. Like when prayer becomes a chore, the Word becomes boring, and church feels empty. The devil doesn’t need to destroy you if he can make you spiritually numb. Egypt distracts you, busies you, and exhausts you until your lamp burns low. Spiritual apathy is one of the most subtle chains of bondage. Jesus warned the church in Ephesus, “You have left your first love.” (Revelation 2:4). When you lose hunger for God, you may still sing, preach, or serve, but the oil is gone.

5. When Strange Battles Fill Your Nights and Days

Some people sleep and wake up weaker. They see strange things in dreams, they feel pressed down, they wake up with marks on their bodies. That is Egypt’s oppression. When you are always tormented in your sleep, always chased, always attacked, always eating in dreams, it is not normal. Those are signs of spiritual bondage. When you are constantly surrounded by strange delays, disappointments, near-success failures, and bad luck that makes opportunities slip from your hand at the last minute, that is Egypt’s chain. When you work like an elephant but eat like an ant, when money comes but disappears mysteriously, when sicknesses refuse to go and doctors are confused, it is not ordinary. These are signs that Pharaoh still sits somewhere in your story. The Bible says, “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” You need that standard lifted now.

6. When Your Heart Bows to Other Gods

Idolatry today may not look like golden calves. It looks like hearts that love comfort more than obedience, careers more than eternal callings, or people/pastors/churches more than God. Egypt thrives on replacements for God. It teaches you to depend on systems, money, relationships, or your own strength. Yet Scripture says, “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help.” (Isaiah 31:1). Whatever you cannot live without has already become your master. Freedom begins when God becomes enough again.

Freedom begins when God becomes enough again.

7. When Poverty, Barrenness, and Repeated Patterns Follow You

When the same problem keeps repeating in every generation, something is wrong. When your father struggled, your brothers are struggling, and you too are now struggling, that is a curse pattern. When doors open and suddenly close, when promises never manifest, when you get close to breakthrough and something always scatters it, that is Egypt. Poverty that makes no sense, barrenness that doctors cannot explain, sicknesses that return after every prayer, these are not ordinary. These are yokes that need to be broken. Egypt does not only bind souls, it also binds destinies. It holds families under invisible embargoes until someone rises to cry out to God. It should be you, sis!

8. When the Soul Is Weighed Down and Wounded

Guilt that never leaves, grief that never heals, shame that never fades, and emotional scars that never close. These are Egypt’s silent chains. Jesus came to “heal the brokenhearted and proclaim liberty to the captives.” (Luke 4:18). When peace disappears and joy becomes foreign to you, sis, it’s a sign that Pharaoh still reigns somewhere inside. True deliverance does not only cast out demons, it restores the soul!

9. When Growth Ceases and Power Is Lost

You know you are stuck in Egypt when your walk with God becomes dry, powerless, and stagnant. You keep hearing truth but never change. You keep fighting the same battles but never win. Paul spoke of those “having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof.” (2 Timothy 3:5). Egypt is where fruitfulness dies; where the gifts of the Spirit are buried under routine religion. Ah! You serve but don’t grow. You sing in church but aren’t transformed. You know the words but not the power. It’s time to come out, sis!

If you see yourself in these words, don’t pretend. Cry out. The same God who brought Israel out still brings His people out. He still breaks chains. He still opens the Red Sea. He still confuses Pharaoh. Don’t make peace with bondage. Don’t decorate your prison. Cry out to the Deliverer. “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.” You were not born to be a slave. You were born for freedom. Egypt must let you go. You must take a flight from Egypt! In the Name of Jesus!

You don’t belong in Egypt. You were born for Canaan!

WHAT IS FREEDOM?

Freedom is the ability to act at will. It is the state of being unrestricted or unencumbered by external forces, limitations, or barriers. It is the absence of constraints or impediments that allow individuals to act, think, and express themselves freely.

Freedom is the ability to make choices and decisions without coercion or undue influence.

These are all online definitions. But from my own experience with Christ and from His Word to us, however, freedom is deeper than these.

So, what does it mean to be really free indeed?

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE FREE INDEED?

To be free indeed is:

  • A state of being completely free from the yokes, dictates, desires and burdens of the evil people of this world.
  • A state of being totally free from the power of self and the flesh.
  • A state of being free from negative family patterns and generational troubles.
  • A state of entering into the rest that only Christ gives.
  • A state of being controlled only by and being answerable only to the Holy Spirit!
  • A state of doing exactly what the Lord wants us to do, where He wants us to do it, how, when and with whom He wants us to do it.
  • A state of daily walking in victory over the Devil and all his wiles and being a threat to his kingdom.

With these expositions we have had above, you know just like I do that we need a divine touch. We need to be free indeed!

We shall be praying very shortly but before then; shall we take a victory song? This is titled: ‘I’m free’ by Lynda Randle. Sing it like a victor that you are! Chant your victory with tears before we launch out into prayers.

FREEDOM FROM THE EGYPT THAT BINDS

There comes a day when a woman gets tired. Not just tired in body, but tired in spirit. Tired of the chains, tired of the oppression, tired of the same old story. Scripture says, “And it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.” (Genesis 27:40). Until Esau was tired of bowing, he remained under Jacob’s yoke. But when he said in his heart, Enough!, the yoke broke.

That is how freedom comes. It is born out of holy tiredness. The children of Israel served in Egypt for hundreds of years. They cried, but not deeply enough. They groaned, but they still managed the pain. They said, “Well, at least we have garlic and onions.” But one day came when they could no longer bear it. One day came when the whip became too painful, when the taskmasters’ orders became unbearable, when they said, “No more bricks, no more chains, no more Pharaoh!” And the Bible says, “And God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant.” (Exodus 2:24). It was their cry that triggered Heaven’s move.

Daughters of my Father, have you reached that point? Are you tired? If you are still comfortable with your bondage, you will remain there. If you can still explain your addiction, still excuse your fear, still pamper your laziness, you will keep serving Pharaoh. Deliverance is for the desperate. Freedom is for those who say, “This is not my home. I was not born for slavery.” When you get to that point, you will cry not polite prayers, but groanings that shake the gates of hell.

The truth is, the Deliverer has already been sent. Jesus is not coming to break the yoke, sis, He already broke it. The cross was Egypt’s final defeat. The Holy Ghost inside of you is not a visitor, He is your Moses, nay, the Creator of Moses! Ayaaaa! But you must agree with Him. You must rise and declare, “No more Egypt in my life.” Until your spirit stands up, the Red Sea will not part. Until you lift your rod, the Jordan will not open.

So today, say it with authority. Enough is enough. Break those invisible chains. Break the patterns that your fathers could not break. Break the habits that have mocked your prayers. Break the curses that have followed your name. You are not born to die in the wilderness. You are not meant to stop halfway. God did not deliver Israel to make them wander forever. He brought them out that He might bring them in!!!

You are not born to die in the wilderness. You are not meant to stop halfway. God did not deliver Israel to make them wander forever. He brought them out that He might bring them in!!!

Canaan is your portion. Freedom is your inheritance. Victory is your right in Christ. The only burden you are allowed to carry is the burden of Jesus. The only yoke that must remain is His yoke, for He said, “My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” So, rise up. Tear off the bands from your neck. Lift your voice and say, “Lord, I want to go all the way. I will not stop in Egypt. I will not die in the wilderness. I am marching into Canaan.”

Because today, Heaven is listening for one cry and that is the cry of the tired, the cry of the desperate, the cry that says, “This is my day of freedom!”

I’M FREE by Lynda Randle

So long, I searched for life’s meaning-

Enslaved by the world and my greed-

Then the door of my prison was opened by love-

For the ransom was paid-

I was free!

I’m free from the fear of tomorrow-

I’m free from the guilt of my past-Woooh!

I’ve traded my shackles for a glorious song-

I’m free- Praise the Lord, free at last!

I am free from the guilt that I carried-

From the dull empty life- I’m set free-

For when I met Jesus he made me complete

He forgot the foolish child I used to be-

I’m free from the fear of tomorrow

I’m free from the guilt of my past-Oh

Oh! I traded my shackles for a glorious song-

I’m free! Praise the Lord, free at last!

OOOH! I’ve traded my shackles for a glorious song!

I’m free, Praise the Lord free at last!!

HALLELUYAH!
