TOPIC: DESTROYING THE ‘ALMOST THERE, BUT NEVER THERE’ SYNDROME

WOW! It’s day 14 already and I don’t know if you’re excited and grateful to God like I am.

 

I am thankful for the strength and grace to wait on Him & pray.

 

I bless the Lord for thus far He’s helped us. Just raise your hands and open your mouth to tell this, my wonderful God:

 

‘Lord I’m grateful!’ (Worship Him)

 

We receive grace to continue till our testimony is full in Jesus’ name. Amen.

 

My sisters, we should not relax until the very last drops of the juices in July are fully squeezed out o.

 

Every lazy spirit and that thought that the ones we’ve gotten are enough, I cast you out now in the powerful name of Jesus.

Our God is faithful!!

 

Let’s look at our topic for today.

 

You probably have come across it before.  You might have even seriously prayed against this syndrome before but you can still see it very clearly in your life or family.

 

Almost there but never there!

 

Failure at the edge of success!

 

Hmmmm…. Those are some very terrible limiting syndromes there that need to be broken today!!! In the Mighty Name of Jesus!

 

‘Almost’ is said to be slightly short of or not quite accomplished.

 

Another word that is used in place of ALMOST is nearly, well-nigh.

 

Let me use it in two sentences:

 

I} the baby was almost asleep when the alarm rang.

 

ii} The food was almost done when the gas got finished.

 

I know you know the meaning of ‘almost’.

 

ALMOST THERE, then means nearly at the desired location.

 

SYNDROME means disease or concurrent happenings.

 

So, ‘Almost there syndrome’ is a situation where one keeps having concurrent instances of nearly arriving at a location.

 

Now, look at those things that you wanted to get, receive or acquire. Those things were almost within your reach but somehow, you never got them.

 

Today!

 

Somebody shout ‘today!!!!’

 

Believing, you shall receive them in Jesus’ name. Amen

 

Oluwadarasimi and Oluwadamilola were best of friends. D² as they were fondly called had everything in common. You would think they were twins seeing them for the first time.

 

They went to the same school and church. They most times ate together, put on the same attire, and at times slept together at each other’s house.

 

When it was time to cross over to the university, Dara realized evidence of this syndrome in her life!

 

As she struggled with the new reality, she kept wondering why her name was Oluwadarasimi{God is good to me} when she could barely see any goodness.

 

There were times she wept, soaked her pillows with tears, and asked why her life was so different from Dami’s.

 

Dami was a 400-level student of a prestigious university while Dara was still struggling to pass her SSCE. She would either get a fail in an important subject like Maths, English, chemistry, or Physics.

 

There was even a time she passed all only for WAEC to cancel her center as a result of noticed exam malpractices.

 

One issue or the other must come up and she won’t be able to go to the university.

 

Because her parents were wealthy, they even tried manipulating it but it wouldn’t work. They had to continue caring for her siblings, leaving her alone to decide what to do with her life.

 

This is just a little of the many ways this syndrome expresses itself in our lives.

 

Many times, it comes in such a way that we would be thinking God is the one making us wait and that His time is the best, not knowing there could be an underlying disease sending forth these symptoms! Blessings keep passing us by, opportunities would almost get to us but would never arrive.

 

We would almost be chosen as the best candidate for that job if we had arrived one minute before Chidinma was awarded the candidacy!

 

As soon as the news that our blood pressure is now okay and we can now enjoy life as healthy humans, the doctor comes back with another report. The ulcer is gone now, but you are diabetic. Ugh!

 

This is the fourth guy that would suddenly walk out on you when you are almost about to get married. Like, just a few days to the wedding and he’s saying ‘You’re a very good person but I just can’t seem to find the spark’! Ah!

 

Or you have passed the fifth stage of getting that contract awarded. You are in the line with a younger colleague, so it was certain you would be selected. It was time to present all the necessary documents and you confidently presented them. Until they asked for an inconsequential ID that you have but had forgotten to take along and the contract went to the other not-as-qualified-as-you colleague. You get to the Keke Napep taking you back home to later discover the ID in your back pocket!!!

 

Almost there but never there!

 

That was what Moses suffered from also. After all the insults from the Israelites and all the wahala he had to go through to lead them out from Egypt for many years, God took him to the top of Mount Pisgah to show him the ‘Promised Land’ from afar. The Land flowing with milk and honey that the Lord had told him about, the one he had preached about, the one he had encouraged everyone to watch out for, the one he was looking forward to enjoying himself!!!

 

God told him to look at it from afar. He told him that he would never get there!!!

 

He could see it from afar, smell it from afar but it would never be his portion!!!

 

Ah!!! Almost there but never there!

 

How do you know if this is present in your life?

 

You take one step forward by ten steps backward.

 

You constantly miss opportunities

 

You procrastinate a lot and always arrive late! You only get to meet the crumbs and leftovers.

 

You find yourself blaming others too often for your failure

 

You work so hard and get nothing in reward.

 

Pains and sicknesses hinder you from getting to some heights.

 

Rising and falling

 

Lack of helpers and focus

 

And so on.

What can we say is the causes of this syndrome?

 

Could be a result of your sins or that of your parents.

 

You could have inherited it from your ancestral bloodline.

 

You could have been cursed with it.

 

Evil association with people who have the syndrome

 

Strange people have laid hands on you. Maybe native doctors or false prophets etc.

 

I don’t care how this evil syndrome found its way around you but today is its expiry date!!!!

 

Amen???

From our first song, we could see that our God is well capable of dealing with this stubborn problem no matter how long it’s been there!!!

 

My Jesus makes a way where there is no way!

 

My Jesus can rewrite the story of my life!!

 

My Lord can deal with the siege under which I am laboring and give me a renewed glory!

 

The Lord can deal with this syndrome! He has the power over it no matter what name it is called. Whether it is called:

 

The Spirit of Almost there but never there

 

Or the Near Success Syndrome

 

Or failure at the edge of success

 

Whatever the case may be, the Lord can turn it around!

John 5:1-15:

5 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

 

2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

 

3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

 

4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

 

*5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.*

 

6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

 

7 The impotent man answered him, *Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.*

 

Let me stop here. You can finish reading on your own!

 

38 full years, this guy had been in the association of sick, disabled, bedridden people!

 

When healing visited, he’d see people around him getting theirs but his infirmity tied him to a spot!

 

He’d be looking at the miracle happening, might be the first to see the angel appearing but would never get his own deliverance!!!

 

Maybe that is your history also.

 

Or maybe yours is like the case of Simon Peter in Luke 5: 1-9

 

And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

 

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

 

3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people out of the ship.

 

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

 

5 And Simon answering said unto him, *Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing:* nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

 

Can you see?

 

Maybe this is your own case. As an experienced fisherman, Peter knew it was best to finish at night. That is when you can get a whole lot of them! But despite his experience and intelligence, he toiled all night and caught nothing!!!!

 

He worked all night but no single fish would fall into his net!

 

He would cast the net in the sea and with expectations try to pull it out but the net would come out emptily!!!

 

Maybe this is also your problem!

 

You work close to opportunities but none falls into your net!

 

Jesus is here today!

 

He is interested in changing the story of your life forever!

 

Jesus stepped into the ship of Simon, He has stepped into the ship of your life today also in the Mighty Name of Jesus!

 

He is changing your story and turning your life around. Amen??

 

Let’s see what happened to Peter as soon as he did as the Lord has spoken.

 

6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

 

Ayaaaaaaaaaa!

 

My sisters, the waters o! The same sea! But the atmosphere had changed! Mercy had stepped in! The supernatural must just happen. Oh, glory!!!

 

Their nets broke!!!

 

7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came and filled both the ships so that they began to sink.

 

Ah!!!! Two full ships of fish!!!!

 

 

Oh my Lord!!!

 

 

Miracles entered Simon’s life and he forgot the pains of the night fast!!!

 

Hallelujah!

 

 

So shall it be in our lives and even more today in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

 

 

Since our lives are witnessing some huge turnarounds henceforth, can we take ‘TURN IT AROUND’ by Dr. Paul Enenche now?

Oh glory!!!!

 

What in your life is reflecting this ‘almost there but never there’ syndrome”?

 

Maybe there’s a siege or curse placed on your family that whenever you reach a certain point, the problem or curse will manifest and you won’t be able to complete the thing?

 

Yours may even be pregnancy, maybe every 3 months, a miscarriage will occur.  In fact, you’re pregnant again and maybe you’re counting down to the next miscarriage already again! I’ve come to announce to you that you’ll be a mother soon!

 

Prepare for your children, as many as you want- you shall receive them today in Jesus’ name!!!!

 

This syndrome that used to work against your progress and happiness is conquered today in Jesus’ Name!!!

 

Your successes will no longer disappear or be stolen from you!

 

No more unfulfillment, failures and disappointments, unfulfilled promises in your life in the Mighty Name of Jesus!!!

 

No more yearly toils without great achievements in your family henceforth in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

WE ARE DELIVERED!

 

THANK YOU JESUS!

SHALL WE PRAY?

 

Begin to worship our God, the king of kings, Lord of lords, lover of our souls, the never-failing Father, the father to the fatherless, the husband to the widows. Baba that is bigger than all babas put together!

 

Call Him sweet sweet names. Praise Him in your language, sing to Him, dance to Him.

 

HAVE A QUALITY PRAISE AND WORSHIP SESSION BEFORE PROCEEDING!

 

Thereafter begin to search your heart, receive cleansing and purging from all unrighteousness. Ask the Lord to forgive you of all your shortcomings and blot your transgressions with His blood.

 

 

Cover your atmosphere with the Blood of Jesus.

 

Declare that in this battle you are winning!

 

Declare that no power is stopping you today!

 

And declare that your answers come back to you unhindered in the Mighty Name of Jesus!

 

Declare forcefully that today is the last day of the operation of this syndrome in your life!!
