PROGRAMME THEME: KNOCKING ON HEAVEN’S DOOR
THEME FOR THE DAY: KNOCKING ON HEAVEN’S DOOR FOR MY OWN MARRIAGE! (For the singles)
TEXT: JOB 22:28
BIBLE STUDY: JUDGES 9

OUR SONG FOR THE DAY:

OH GIVE US CHRISTIAN HOMES

God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the Bible is loved and taught,
Homes where the Master’s will is sought,
Homes crowned with beauty Your love has wrought;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the father is true and strong,
Homes that are free from the blight of wrong,
Homes that are joyous with love and song;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the mother, in caring quest,
Strives to show others Your way is best,
Homes where the Lord is an honored guest;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the children are led to know
Christ in His beauty who loves them so,
Homes where the altar fires burn and glow;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

PRAY WITH THE SONG AND THEN, PROCEED!

Singleness can be a long, lonely, and confusing road, especially when it’s unwanted.

Over many years, I learned that God does not guarantee temporary joys for his children like physical health, marriage, success at work, or children. And that’s because he is utterly, relentlessly committed to giving his precious sons and daughters what’s best for us, when it’s best for us, and only if it’s best for us. Never, otherwise (Romans 8:28).

No matter how good the gift seems to be in the moment, or how much we want it, or how long we have waited, God will not abandon the greater good he has promised us (2 Corinthians 12:7–10).

But we may be tempted to abandon him, to give up on his plan for us, or at least turn our backs for a little bit in disappointment. We really do convince ourselves that we know better, that we can choose better for ourselves than God can — the same God who came and died at infinite cost to save us. But we don’t, and we can’t. When we begin to feel overlooked or forgotten, or to doubt God’s love for us, we distance ourselves from him, when we should be running to him. Instead of walking away, we really need to kneel down and pray.

LET ME QUICKLY OUTLINE EIGHT POINTS YOU MUST TOUCH IF YOU WANT TO DO GOD’S WILL IN MARRIAGE.

1. Not my will, but Yours, be done.
“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42)

Not my will, but yours, be done, O Lord. If those seven words and the faith beneath them were enough to carry Jesus through the cross for my sake, they should be enough to carry me through anything in this life for his sake. Prepare me to make the most of this singleness and even my marriage when it comes. Either way, anchor my heart firmly in you, and not in marriage.

2. Reveal as much of yourself to me as possible while I’m still single.
[May] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe. (Ephesians 1:16–19)

Show me more of yourself and shape my life to reveal your glory. As I walk back out on the raging sea of life and of singleness, still my faith in you and set my eyes on you standing strong and reliable above it all. Reveal how much bigger and more beautiful you are than marriage, or any other dream or desire I might have.

3. Satisfy me so fully now that I never look to anyone else to make me happy.

With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments. . . . I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. . . . Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways. . . . Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me. (Psalm 119:10, 15, 37, 133)

You are the only one who could ever truly make me happy. No spouse, no friend, no job, no amount of money could ever fill the space inside of me made for you. You are more than enough for me, and yet my heart is still prone to wander. Order my loves according to your surpassing worth and beauty, and guard my eyes and mind from being preoccupied with anyone or anything besides you. Capture my heart again, and secure it against all of Satan’s lies.

4. Tell the world about yourself through my joy and freedom in singleness.
May the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. (Hebrews 13:20–21)

Use me and my gifts to make your name great in the world. I want my life to count for the mission you have given us. I want it to count today, even while I am still young and single. Fill me with ambition, creativity, and selflessness for the sake of your glory.

5. Give me faith to trust you even when I walk through pain and disappointment alone.
To keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:7–10)

Help me see every loss or disappointment, every moment of loneliness, every unfulfilled dream or desire, and every evidence of weakness as an opportunity to remember and enjoy the strength, hope, and rest you bought for me with the blood of your Son. Remind me that you are working all of this, every inch, in every way, for my good.

6. Send me the people I need to follow you.
He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. (Ephesians 4:11–16)

“Father, surround me with people who love me, and who love you more than they love me.”

Surround me with people who love me, and who love you more than they love me, especially while I would otherwise live alone. Reveal things about me to me through their eyes, their faith and maturity, and their words. Make me a healthier, more effective member of the local church. Give me a deep, abiding, and growing desire to serve her in whatever ways I can. Rescue me from the blindness and self-centeredness of isolation.

7. Protect me from making work my god while I wait for marriage.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:23–24)

Help me see any success or progress as evidence of your grace, and wean me off of the love of money and human approval. Liberate me from the tyranny of today’s to-do list, and receive every task, every meeting, every chore, and every project as an act of worship.

8. Keep me from conforming to the world around me, and make me more like Jesus.
It is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9–11)

Finish the work you have started within me and through me, making me a little more like Jesus every day. Restrain me from doing anything to make his death look cheap or meaningless. Equip me to increasingly think, talk, and act like someone who has been saved at infinite cost and entrusted with the greatest news the world has ever known.

In every step of my pursuit of marriage, make it clear that you are God, and I am yours.

THANK YOU JESUS!

If there is a man to pray, there is a God to answer!

In this generation of sin and faithlessness, God will still lead the man or the woman who can sincerely wait on the Lord and pray!

A man or a woman who would be ready to throw himself/herself at God and say Use me whichever way Lord!

A man or woman who will sincerely say I surrender! To the Lord and mean it. That no matter where the Lord would lead such a man, he would just be ready to go- the north, the east, the south, the west.

Why? Because he or she knows that God will not send him/her where His eyes cannot reach!

If you trust Him, He will lead you too, more than you can ask or think according to the Power that dwells in us!

SHALL WE QUICKLY CONSIDER THIS OTHER PART OF OUR PRAYERS VERY DEEPLY, PLEASE?

Lord, I don’t know who my future husband will be but you do. So I willingly trust you with my life and his. I want to lift my future husband up to you today Lord. Please give him a great day! Help him to enjoy his friends and family. Give him peace and rest from all stress. Help him to keep his eyes on you and to encounter your presence in a whole new way! I pray that he would be able to make the right choices and decisions when it comes to his plans. Help him to be a light and shining example to his friends. Lord, whatever he does let it be a reflection of his love for you and may he bring you glory. Please help him know you love him and are looking out for him. Thank you Jesus. I love you and want to bring You and my future husband honor.

Lord, please bless my future husband today with the gift of friends. Please bring him godly mentors and companions that will spur him on in the pursuit of godliness. I pray especially that he would have examples of godly men to look up to. I ask that You would give him friends his own age who are seeking You with their lives. Please help him to be surrounded with the people that will draw him nearer to You and not farther away. And please give him friends that will bring laughter and joy into his life.
Amen.

Dear God, please give my future husband vision and clarity today. Please inspire him with a strong vision for his life. Only you know exactly what his life will hold, and precisely what you want to do through him. Please remind him of that vision every day. Help him to rely solely on you for his strength, and to move forward with confidence. God, I ask you to help him love you more than anything else, running after you, unapologetically seeking you with all his heart. I ask you to give him passion and a selfless, unashamed boldness that can only come from you.
Amen.

Dear God,
Please help my future husband to be a hard worker. May he work to bring glory to you. Help him to be honest in business and everyday life too. No matter how big or small a thing is. Each and every day even right now help him to make wise choices that bring honor to you. Help him to have integrity and to stand up for what is right.
Amen.

Lord I pray that my future husband would learn through day to day experiences and trials how to be a good leader. I pray that he would learn the qualities needed to make a great leader for his family and wife. May he learn integrity, strength of mind and above all, love. May he learn to be strong in his beliefs and not back down or give into the ways of the world. I know that being a leader requires boldness and humility, strength but lowliness of heart, wisdom beyond his years but also a meek spirit, I pray that he may learn this and more before he becomes the leader of our family. Bless his day and give him peace and joy. May he be filled with Your Holy Spirit and walk in truth and grace. Thank you for him Jesus! I don’t know who, or where he is or what he is doing right now but I pray for your everlasting joy to be with him. Let him laugh and be lighthearted today. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

Dear God, I pray that You would bless my future husband as he seeks out the answers to the questions that arise in life. Help him to know that as the Author of all things You have all the answers. And, Lord, help my husband to not be afraid of what the answers might be, but to know that all things have a place in Your plan. Teach him to pursue truth with zeal, but at the same time, Lord, let him accept that he can’t find the answers to some questions on this side of heaven. And, Lord, when the answer is not available this side of heaven, please show him how to hope in You.
Amen.

Dear God, please help my future husband to love your word, the Bible. Help him to study and learn from it every day. Guide him and give him wisdom when he reads so that he will be able to teach and guide our family someday. Help him to be meditating on it all the time and to not just hear it, but be doing what you tell him to be doing in it as well. Thank you Jesus. Amen.

Dear God, please give my future husband strength and wisdom today. Please give him the strength to face the temptations the world lays constantly before him. Help him in his battles and struggles, and please let him know you’re beside him at all times. Help him grow stronger in you every day. Please grant him wisdom in his decisions in life right now. In everything, please let him pursue wisdom from you. Also, please let him have a wonderful day today.
Thank you so much for everything you’ve done, are doing, and will do in his life.
Amen.

Dear God, please help my future husband to be a good leader in whatever position you may have him to be in now and in the future. Our home, his work, church, etc may his life and the things that he does be about bringing glory and honor to you. May the other people around him see you through him and want to come to know you. Especially in our home, help him to lead our family in a godly way. And give him wisdom and discernment and help in making any hard decisions that might come our way. Thank you Lord. Amen

Lord, please bring my future husband the gift of joy and happiness today! Let his heart be light and care-free. Don’t let the troubles of life or this world bring him down. Let him enjoy life to its fullest today and everyday! Let his laugh be heard and his smiles be seen. Let him be a shining joy to all around him. I pray that his family would encourage him and build him up so that he may do the same for others. Let the clouds of depression and worry see his joy and pass over him. Bring him peace and comfort so that he can experience the fullness of Your goodness Jesus. Thank you Lord! Amen.

Jesus, I pray that you would bless my future husband with the gift of a loving, sweet and tender heart. Let him learn now while he is single to be a loving husband. Help him want to bless others and have a caring attitude. Teach him how to help others while they are hurting. Give him compassion. Let him know how to complete me when I’m stressed or upset. Let him know the right words to say and how to comfort me. And Lord please give him loving friends and family to surround him with so that he never feels alone. Bless his day today and help him feel content and loved! Thank you Lord. Amen.

Lord, I pray for strength in my future husband. Help him be strong against the wiles and evils of this world in our day and age. Lord I pray that he would feel strong enough to take on anything this life has to offer him with You by his side. Give him a noble heart, a steadfast spirit and a passionate pursuit for holiness. Let him embrace his calling as a Christian leader in the 21st century and let him know the depth of influence that he has on others. Jesus, give him a fierce love for righteousness and a healthy fear of You, God. Thank you for him Jesus. Whoever he is, wherever he is, thank you for him. I surrender my thoughts and questions, doubts and fears in regards to my future husband. Lord, take control of my love life, I entrust it to You. Please be the King of my heart, be all my hope and dreams. I love you Jesus. Thank you for all that you are doing in my life and in that of my Future Beloved’s! Amen.

LET US HAVE OUR SECOND SONG FOR TODAY AS WE GO INTO THE LAST PART OF OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY!

SHEPHERD OF MY SOUL, I GIVE YOU FULL CONTROL!

Shepherd of my soul I give you full control,
Wherever You may lead I will foll-ow.
I have made the choice to listen for Your vo-vo-ice,
Wherever You may lead I will go.

Be it in a quiet pasture or by a gentle stream,
The Shepherd of my soul is by my side.
Should I face a mighty mountain or a valley dark and deep,
The Shepherd of my soul will be my guide.

Shepherd of my soul Oh You have made me whole,
Where’er I hear You call how my tea-ars flow.
How I feel your love how I want to se-rve
I gladly give my heart to You O – Lord.

Be it in the flowing river or in the quiet night,
The Shepherd of my soul is by my side.
Should I face the stormy weather or the dangers of this world.
The Shepherd of my soul will be my guide.

NOW, PRAY WITH FIRE!

Father, speak to me for I am ready to listen. I want to hear You.

I will never despise anybody you send to me, help me Lord to be sensitive in the Spirit.

Lord, help me to know when You are the one speaking. Help Your Voice to be distinct no matter who You send to deliver the message to me.

Father, every commitment that I have entered into without Your permission, contrary to Your Will, help me to come out of them all now by Your mercy.

Help me not to be an emergency Christian oh Lord. Help me to be someone who loves you even more than life itself.

Help my relationship with you oh Lord. Rescue my relationship with you from drowning oh Lord.

I want to be familiar with Your voice whichever way You choose to speak to me. Oh God, every wax in my spiritual ears that will bar Your voice from breaking through, I melt them away now by the Fire of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

God, I have understood now that nothing happens to me as Your child, it happens for me. Let this understanding be an integral part of my life in the Name of Jesus!

Oh Lord, help me never to forsake prayers at the most critical times! Help me oh Lord to sing through all my challenges no matter how difficult!

Father, help me to ask and keep asking till my joy is full in the Name of Jesus!

Father, show me, or speak to me. Fill my heart with revelations from Heaven as regards my marriage in Jesus Name.

Oh God, have mercy upon me! In ways I have gone into the wrong relationship even when I keep seeing the red signals, Father forgive and deliver me in the Name of Jesus!

Oh Lord, help me to wait, help me to be burning for you and sincere while waiting and help me never to miss it.

Oh God, help me to be totally surrendered to you. Speak to me, let the flesh in me bow and let me hear you clear. Help me to be sincere in approaching this matter and not keep an idol in my heart.

Oh God, give me the grace to pray and pray through against every attack and manipulation of the enemy.

Oh God open my ear to hear you and hear you clearly. Help me not to doubt you and the words you have spoken to me.

Continue to pray as He gives you the grace!
