PRAYING FOR MY FUTURE HUSBAND DAY 1

Day 1 Prayer Focus:

Lord, raise my future husband as a man who longs to build a Godly home

 

Lord, raise him as a man who longs to build a godly home. Plant in him a holy desire for marriage that honors Christ.

 

For this challenge, give your future husband a prophetic name. It can be a name God has laid on your heart (for me it was David) or a strong biblical/prophetic name that speaks destiny and manhood (Joseph, Daniel, Boaz, Elijah).

Please do not call him “baby”. Yes, sis, jokes aside, your husband is not your baby; he is your head and lord in marriage. Pick a name that calls forth his calling and his manhood.

For this prayer, we’ll use the name David as an example. Replace it with the name you have chosen each time you pray.

Scriptures to stand on

Psalm 127:1 – Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Ephesians 5:25–26 – Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word

Genesis 18:19 – For I (the Lord) know him (Abraham), that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

Let Us Pray

Father, I lift up David, the man You are preparing for me, before Your throne today. Unless You build the house, its builders labor in vain. Oh Lord, build him Yourself in the name of Jesus!
Raise David as a man who longs to build a godly home, a home where Jesus is loved, worshiped, and obeyed in the Name of Jesus.

Lord, plant in David a holy desire for marriage that honors Christ. Uproot every idea about marriage that is worldly, selfish, fearful, or cultural and not biblical from his heart and head. Break every lie from broken homes or ungodly role models. Replace it with truth from Your Word. Teach him that marriage is covenant. Teach him that loving a wife is holy service to Jesus. Give him a mind renewed by the Holy Spirit and a heart set on Your will alone in the Name of Jesus.

Oh Lord, make David a wise builder! Let wisdom and understanding be his tools. Establish in him habits that will hold a home together. Arm him with the spirit of prayer, humility, patience, kindness, forgiveness and diligence for building our home. Give him love that is patient and kind. Give him self-control and gentle strength. Let his first altar be his walk with You. Make prayer normal to him. Make the Word his daily bread. Give him joy in obedience. Give him courage to say no to sin and yes to truth in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

Form in David a Christlike husband heart. Teach him to love me even from now like Christ who gave Himself for the Church. Teach him to lead with humility, to serve with joy, to protect with courage, and to provide with diligence. Set his eyes to seek first the kingdom of God and Your righteousness, and as he does, add everything to him that he will need to build a peaceful, joyful home together with me.

Oh Lord, give David a vision for family worship in the name of Jesus! Let praise and Scripture become the light in our future house. Let our table be a place of blessing and teaching. Let our doors be a gate of hospitality and purity. Keep his heart faithful; keep his words truthful; keep his body honorable. Let our marriage bed be undefiled. Give him delight in covenant and a holy hatred for anything that breaks it in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

Right now, Lord, begin to prepare David wherever he is. Align his decisions, his friendships, his mentors, his finances, and his routines with the man he is becoming. Place fathers and brothers in his life who will sharpen him. Put Your hand on him for good. Establish his steps. Make him a man after Your heart who builds on the Rock, so that when storms blow, our house will stand.

Now, Declare

I declare in the name of Jesus that David is a man who longs for a godly marriage. David, you desire a home built on Christ; you desire to walk in the perfect will of God for your life. You desire me, the wife God has prepared for you, and you desire to love me as Christ loves the Church. You desire to lead, to cover, to protect, and to provide. You desire the purpose for which God created you as a husband and father. I declare that you are able to build the marriage God intended from the very beginning. You begin to have a holy longing for a Christ-centered home; your heart burns to be a true head and shepherd. You submit yourself first to the Head, Jesus Christ, so that you can lead me with wisdom and humility. You will be faithful in thought, word, and action. You will reject the broken patterns of this world and embrace the pattern of heaven. You will be a wise builder whose house will stand through every storm. Our marriage will honor Jesus, carry His presence, and shine as a testimony of His glory in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
