The Image of God is Distorted by Gender Sameness

Echoes of Truth

Theme: Reclaiming Biblical Womanhood

God’s image is reflected not in gender sameness but in gender harmony; He did not make a mistake in creating two sexes instead of one. The world needs women who are women, not copies of men, for the attempt to blur gender distinctions not only rejects God’s order, it distorts God’s image.

Gender Sameness Destroys the Image of God
Gender Sameness Destroys the Image of God

Have You Truly Understood the Image of God?

What does it mean to be made in the image and likeness of God, sis?

Have you truly sat with that question, or has it just been something you have always heard and accepted without pressing into it?

Because this is not a light statement at all, sis.

ECHOES OF TRUTH

This is not something to skip over.

This is where everything begins.

The Bible says, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26).

What does this mean?

Ponder on that for a while.

What is this image and likeness of God?

Genesis 1 and 2: The Image of God Revealed in Male and Female

The Scriptures say, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26).

Do not rush past this line in the Scriptures, sis.

In fact, take a pause and ask the Holy Spirit to make this real to you.

Tell the Lord to make these letters life in your heart right now so you can have a good grasp of this.

Now, let us go on.

God says, “Let us.” That is plural. Yet the Scriptures also say, “The Lord our God is one Lord” (Deuteronomy 6:4).

So God is one, yet He speaks as “us.”

This is not confusion in any form.

This is revelation.

This is the mystery of His being.

One God existing with a unity within Himself.

Three persons yet One God!

Then He says, “make man,” singular.

But immediately after, He says, “let them have dominion,” plural.

Singular. Then plural.

Do you see it?

God is already embedding a pattern here.

And we must know this. Genesis 1 and 2 isn’t exactly chronological.

Genesis 1 is not giving you the step-by-step process of creation. It is mainly the creation summary. Oh, this day, God created this, then, this and that.

It is showing us what God made before explaining how He made it.

Then Genesis 2 opens it up.

The man is formed from the dust. The woman is brought out of him (Genesis 2:21–22).

She was not created separately as a second idea. She was not added later because something was missing in God’s plan.

No.

She was already inside that word “man” in Genesis 1.

Genesis 2 is simply showing how the one humanity God spoke of became expressed as two persons.

This is why the Scriptures say, “male and female created he them… and called their name Adam” (Genesis 5:2).

God called both of them Adam.

Not Adam and something lesser.

Not Adam and an addition.

Adam.

One name. One humanity. Two persons.

This is how God sees.

In His eyes, they are not two competing beings trying to define themselves. They are one humanity, expressed in two distinct forms, designed to come together in unity.

This is the image of God.

The image is not fully revealed in the male alone. The image is not fully revealed in the female alone. The image appears when both exist together as one, each standing in their design, each functioning in their role.

Marriage: The Living Reflection of the Image of God

The Scriptures say, “Did he not make them one…? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring” (Malachi 2:15, ESV).

Consider this carefully again, even in different versions if you can.

Why is there so much emphasis in the Scriptures on God being one, and then on the man and his wife becoming one as well?

Is that not deep to consider?

The one God made them one!

That is a mystery, sis.

It is a revelation. It is God showing us something about Himself through marriage.

He made them one because He is revealing something.

Marriage, from the beginning, was never designed to terminate on the couple. It was designed to point beyond them.

It points upward.

It points heavenward.

It points to divine realities.

It points to Christ and His church.

It points to the mystery of unity, order, love, headship, submission, fruitfulness, and life flowing out of oneness.

Why did God make them one?

Because oneness is part of His own witness. The Scriptures say, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord” (Deuteronomy 6:4).

God is three in one! There persons, yet one!

Then in creation, He makes the man and the woman one.

Two in one! Two people, yet one!

The pattern is not accidental, my sister.

The Lord is writing a lesson into human life. He is showing that marriage is meant to carry something of His image and likeness.

This is why marriage is such a weighty thing, sis.

Oh, may God give you understanding!

Marriage is not merely about romance.

It is not merely about companionship.

It is not merely about personal fulfilment.

It is about revelation.

Then the Scriptures say, “This is a great mystery” (Ephesians 5:32), after describing the roles of the husband and the wife. And what is that mystery? It is speaking of Christ and His church.

Do you see what is happening?

A husband loving, leading, giving himself.

A wife responding in submission, aligning, building, honoring.

Two becoming one.

The one God made them one, and in that oneness, something sacred is meant to happen.

In that oneness, His image is reflected.

In that oneness, His order is displayed.

In that oneness, life is nurtured.

In that oneness, godly offspring are raised.

Did you catch that in Malachi 2:15?

“And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring.”

So God is seeking something through this union. He is not just joining people for their happiness. He is seeking a seed.

He is seeking a people.

He is seeking a generation formed under His pattern, shaped by His order, raised under the witness of His image.

It is only in the oneness of the couple, in the reflection of His image and likeness, that godly offspring are meant to be raised rightly.

That is why Satan hates order in marriage. That is why he fights headship. That is why he fights femininity. That is why he fights masculinity. That is why he fights the home. Because if he can break the pattern, he can corrupt the picture. And if he corrupts the picture, he can wound the seed that is meant to rise out of it.

So, God is seeking godly offspring.

He is seeking children who are born into more than a house.

He is seeking children raised inside a touchable sermon.

Children raised inside a living parable.

Children raised where the father’s role and the mother’s role together proclaim the wisdom, image and likeness of God.

When the man is truly a man and the woman is truly a woman, when both stand in the order God gave them, the home becomes fertile ground for heaven’s testimony.

The children do not merely hear truth. They see it embodied. They watch authority. They watch love. They watch nurture. They watch honor. They watch order. They watch unity.

And that oneness preaches.

It preaches to the children.

It preaches to the church.

It preaches to the world.

This is why marriage is a big deal. Because marriage is one of God’s chosen ways of reflecting Himself on the earth.

Woman, Learn from the Earth

When people look at you and say you should break free from “tradition,” what do they really mean?

They are not just talking about culture. They are talking about your design.

Your home.

Your homemaking.

Your womb.

Your children.

Your marriage.

Anything that keeps you from what they call “climbing the ladder.”

When they compare you with a man and say he should be the one cooking, cleaning, and doing the duties of the home while you are given “wings to fly,” what are they really saying?

When they “empower” you and teach you to chant, “you can be more,” “the future is female,” and subtly or boldly suggest that men are no longer needed, pause.

Look carefully.

If a woman cooks and builds her home, is it slavery? They say ‘Yessssss’.

If a man does the same, is it still slavery? They says ‘Nooooo’. They celebrate him. They call it goals. They say this is how it should be.

What does that tell you?

It is not about the chores!!!

It is about something deeper.

There is a quiet agenda. A reordering!!

Reordering is the goal. Men becoming women, women becoming men. Women abandoning the home, men becoming homemakers. Roles reversed. Order inverted. This is the same strategy the serpent used in Genesis. He bypassed God’s order and reordered creation!

This is not new. This is ancient.

And this is why you must learn to see, woman!

Nature Is Still Teaching, If You Will Look

The Scriptures say, “Doth not even nature itself teach you…?” (1 Corinthians 11:14).

God has not hidden His wisdom. He has written it even into creation for everyone who would pay attention.

Look at the earth. It is called Mother Earth for a reason! Have you wondered why?

The earth receives seed.

She receives sunlight.

She  receives rain.

And what happens?

It produces life!

Quietly.

Steadily.

Faithfully.

Beneath the surface, roots begin to form. You do not see them, but they are working.

Then shoots begin to rise. Growth begins. Life begins to multiply.

The earth does not reject what is given to it at all. If ‘she’ rejects or aborts it, we would all be in trouble!

It receives, it nurtures, and it brings forth.

This is not weakness but power.

This is a picture of femininity.

Can You See the Lie Now?

Can you see now, dear woman, why believing that you are inferior because God made you the homemaker, the child bearer, the womb holder is a lie?

Can you see it clearly?

This is not truth. This is deception.

The world has trained many women to look at their design and call it limitation.

But God calls it power.

To carry life in your womb is not small.

To build a home is not small.

To nurture, to shape, to multiply life is not small.

The earth does this, and the whole world depends on it.

Yet the earth is quiet. It does not struggle for recognition. It does not compete with the sky. It does not try to become the sun.

It simply functions in its design.

And because it does, life flourishes.

So why has the woman been made to feel ashamed of what is essential?

This is where the lie sits.

When You Resist Your Design

When a woman resists her feminine role, she is not just resisting culture or her husband.

She is resisting design!

She is stepping out of the pattern God established.

And once the pattern is broken, strain begins.

What was meant to flow begins to struggle.

What was meant to be light for her becomes heavy.

Because the grace of God ONLY follows His design.

When you stand in your place, there is supply.

There is strength.

There is clarity.

But when you step out of it, there is friction.

Things become harder than they should be. Why? Because you are operating outside the pattern that carries grace!

Gender Sameness Destroys the Image of God
Gender Sameness Destroys the Image of God

Sameness Distorts the Image of God!

The world says become the same to be equal. But sameness does not produce order but confusion; because sameness removes meaning!

If everything becomes the same, nothing fits anymore.

Nothing functions as it should.

Nothing produces what it was designed to produce.

Male and female were never meant to be interchangeable. They were meant to work together.

Harmony, not sameness, is what reveals God.

Think about a socket and a plug; A lock and a key; A button and a buttonhole. Even a man’s body and a woman’s!

Each of these only makes sense because of difference.

For instance, a socket and a plug. The socket is designed to receive. The plug is designed to supply. When both remain in their design, power flows. Light comes on.

But if both become sockets, nothing happens. If both become plugs, nothing happens. Not because one is better than the other, but because sameness has removed function.

What about a lock and a key? The lock is not inferior because it does not look like the key. The key is not superior because it enters. They are different by design. When the key meets the lock, access is granted. Purpose is fulfilled.

But if both become locks, the door remains shut. If both become keys, nothing opens.

And how about a button and the buttonhole? The button is shaped one way. The hole is shaped another way. Their difference is what allows the garment to be secured. Their difference is what makes the system work. Remove that difference, and the garment falls apart.

Even the human body testifies. You do not need a sermon to see it.

The body of the man is formed in a way. The body of the woman is formed in a corresponding way.

This is design speaking clearly.

So what happens when that design is rejected?

Confusion!

When the body that was designed to give is joined to another body designed to give, what is produced?

When the body that was designed to receive is joined to another body designed to receive, what flows?

C O N F U S I O N

When design is fought, the result is disorder.

When purpose is ignored, the result is confusion.

Sameness is not elevation or freedom. It is a loss of meaning.

Why This Confusion Is Increasing

This is why these things are on the rise.

The Scriptures say, “even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over…” (Romans 1:28).

So how do we stop retaining God in our knowledge?

It does not happen suddenly. It happens gradually.

It begins when God is quietly removed from authority.

When they tell you that ‘God doesn’t lead in marriage. Don’t waste your time!’

When you hear, “Bible aside,”

When you hear, “Not everything is prayer,”

When you are told to look outside God’s Word to some therapists and counsellors that you might even have to pay money to for how to build your home, choose a spouse, raise your children;

When you are being told to prioritize joining some ‘safe space’ over staying in the Holy Ghost to get yourself free from attacks!

When you are being told to stay before your mirror and daily recite empty ‘nothings’ to your soul over you staying in the Scriptures and having your mind transformed and renewed.

When you are given ideas that sound wise but are rooted in human thinking like ‘Heaven helps those who help themselves’

When you are told God does not care what happens in your bedroom between you and your husband, you can do anythin, anyhow. God doesn’t care! That as long as it feels right, it is acceptable. Ugh!

At that point, God has been removed from that space.

And once God is removed, His design is no longer honored.

The Scriptures then show the result clearly.

“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections… for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men…” (Romans 1:26–27).

This is what happens when what is natural is exchanged.

When design is rejected.

When God is no longer retained in knowledge.

Sis, male and female were created to fit.

To complement.

To reflect the image of God in harmony.

But when that pattern is abandoned, confusion begins to manifest.

And this is why it is increasing.

Because these days, God being removed is even getting worse! Therefore, everything is becoming negotiable!

What was once clear is becoming blurred.

What was once natural is becoming questioned.

Now, the design is being replaced with disorder.

Honouring the Image of God in Your Womanhood

There is a rest that comes when a woman accepts God’s design.

She is no longer resisting it. She is no longer negotiating with it. She embraces it fully.

She allows her husband to be a man joyfully.

She does not compete with his role but rather strengthens it. She honors it. She supports it.

She understands that their union is not just physical. It is deeper.

It is body.

It is soul.

It is spirit.

Oneness is not just about their bodies fitting together. It is about their lives becoming joined, aligned, and unified under God’s order.

And this woman fights for that oneness.

She guards it.

She protects it.

She does not allow anything to tear it apart.

Not pride.

Not offense.

Not external voices.

Not even close relationships or family members that try to interfere.

Anything that threatens that oneness, she recognizes as an enemy of what God is building.

Why?

Because she understands that her marriage is not ordinary. It is a reflection of God!!!

She is no longer trying to prove herself.

She is no longer trying to become something else.

She has settled it in her heart.

She loves the Lord. And because she loves Him, she desires that her marriage reflects Him.

She walks in what God created her to be.

And in that place, there is peace.

There is rest.

There is clarity.

There is glory.

The image of God begins to shine through her life and her home.

Honour What God Has Made

My dear sis, as the Biblical Womanhood Month is drawing to a close, remember this: God did not make a mistake!

He created you with intention.
He designed you with purpose.

Your femininity is not a weakness. It is part of how God reveals Himself on the earth!

Do not fight it.

Do not despise it.

Do not exchange it.

Stand in it, sis; because when you do, the image of God becomes visible!!!

Oh, may the Lord make this real in our hearts in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

Shall We Pray?

Oh my Father in Heaven, I come before You today  with a heart that desires truth.

Thank You for Your Word that shows me Your design and Your order. Thank You for not leaving me to figure life out on my own, but for clearly revealing Your will.

Lord, open my eyes to understand what it truly means to be made in Your image and likeness. Let this not remain head knowledge. Let it become light within me. Let it shape how I see myself, how I see marriage, and how I walk before You.

Father, I ask that You remove every lie I have believed about womanhood. Every thought that says I am less, every idea that makes me despise my design, every voice that has trained me to resist Your order, take it away from me. Let Your truth stand strong in my heart.

Teach me to embrace my frame. Teach me to love what You have made me to be. Give me grace to walk in it with joy, with strength, and with understanding.

Lord, help me to honor Your design in every area of my life. In my thoughts, in my desires, in my actions, in my (future) home, in my relationships. Let me not follow the confusion of this world. Let me not be carried away by voices that do not come from You.

Keep me grounded in Your Word. Let me never set it aside. Let me never replace it. Let me never grow casual with it.

Father, if there is any way I have removed You from my thinking, from my decisions, from my life, restore Your place. Be Lord over everything in my life, oh Lord.

Make my life a reflection of You.

Make my (future) marriage a reflection of You.

Let everything about me point back to Your truth.

And Father, I ask for strength to stand. To stand in Your design, to stand in Your order, to stand in Your truth, no matter what the world says.

In the name of Jesus I have prayed. Amen.

Thank you for today’s teaching. How often do we trade our God given design for what the world says we should be. Femininity is not something to overcome, it’s something to steward. Standing in who God made us to be reveals His image in ways nothing else can.
