Father, thank You for bringing me into another day of this glorious journey. Open the eyes of my understanding today. Remove every veil from my heart, and let me see Your truth as You desire me to see it. Let Your Word become life to me, not just knowledge. Teach me by Your Holy Spirit, and let the life of Christ become more real to me than ever before. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Safety is Everyone’s Greatest Need

One thing every human being longs for is safety.

Regardless of age, nationality, social status, or religion, there is something within every one of us that longs for security. We all want to know that we are safe; that we are protected, preserved, and secure from harm.

A little child feels safest in the loving embrace of his parents. A husband desires a home where he can find peace and security. A wife longs for the assurance of faithful love and protection. Parents work tirelessly because they want to provide a secure future and home for their children.

Entire nations invest billions in military strength because they seek national security. People save money for emergencies because they desire financial security. Others buy insurance to protect themselves against uncertainties.

Many choose where to live based on how safe the neighborhood is. We lock our doors at night, wear seat belts while driving, and visit doctors when we are sick, all because we naturally desire safety.

Even the pursuit of success is often driven by this same desire. Many people chase wealth, influence, education, or power because they believe these things will make life more secure.

The reason many even serve God is for this safety again! Every person instinctively knows that this present life is not all there is. They know that beyond the uncertainties of this world lies eternity, and deep within the human heart is a longing to be safe not only today, but forever.

The Shadow of the Almighty: God’s Promise of Absolute Safety

Having awakened our hearts to the universal need for safety, the Scriptures now present us with one of the greatest promises ever given to mankind.

Psalm 91 is God’s declaration of absolute security. It paints the picture of a man or woman who lives under the covering of the Almighty God. Such a person is not promised a life without battles, but a life under divine protection through every battle.

The psalm begins with a remarkable promise:

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1)

One main thing we notice is the shadow.

A shadow exists because someone greater is standing over you. To abide under the shadow of the Almighty is to live beneath His covering, His authority, His care, and His watchful eye. It is to be sheltered by the presence of God Himself.

As we continue reading the psalm, we discover the incredible blessings that belong to those who live under this shadow.

Dwelling in the Secret Place of the Most High

There is something the Holy Spirit wants us to see before we become too excited about all the promises in Psalm 91.

Every blessing in this chapter is connected to one place.

This is God’s usual style throughout the Scriptures. He always reveals the place before He reveals the inheritance. He establishes the condition before He unveils the promises.

Therefore, the opening verse of Psalm 91 is not just the introduction to the chapter; it is the key that unlocks every other verse.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1)

Did you see that the Lord did not begin with the shadow? He began with the secret place.

He did not begin with protection. He began with dwelling.

He did not begin with the blessings. He began with the place where those blessings are found.

This immediately lets us know that: God’s promises always have an address. Every provision of God is connected to a place that He Himself has ordained. Throughout the Scriptures, whenever men remained where God placed them, they enjoyed what God had prepared for them.

Look at Noah. The flood came upon the whole earth, yet one family remained untouched because they were found inside the place God had prepared. Their safety was never in the wood of the ark. Their safety was in obeying the instruction of God.

What about the children of Israel on the night of Passover? Death moved through Egypt, yet every house marked by the blood was preserved. Their security was never in the walls of the house. Their security was in remaining exactly where God had commanded them to be.

And Elijah during the famine? God first sent him to the brook Cherith, and the ravens fed him there. When the brook dried up, God did not say, “Remain there and exercise your faith.” The word of the Lord came again: “Arise, get thee to Zarephath…” (1 Kings 17:9). Elijah’s preservation was never in the brook; it was in doing the will of God.

This is why the Holy Spirit chose the word “dwelleth.” A dwelling is where a man lives. It is where he settles. It is where he remains. God is describing a life that has found its home in His ways.

This is not someone who runs to God only when trouble comes and returns to self when the storm has passed.

This is a man whose heart has settled under the government of God. He has stopped writing his own story. He has stopped choosing his own path. His greatest desire is to remain where God wants him, doing what God wants, in the season God has appointed.

Such a man has found a dwelling place.

As we read Psalm 91, our attention is naturally drawn to the shadow. We want the protection. We want the deliverance. We want the angels. We want the promises. Yet the Holy Spirit keeps bringing our eyes back to the first part of the verse:

Where Is the Secret Place?

We now arrive at the great question of Psalm 91.

Where is this secret place of the Most High?

For generations, believers have associated the secret place with a prayer room, a mountain retreat, a quiet place of worship, or those precious moments spent alone with God. These are wonderful gifts from the Lord, and every believer should cultivate them.

But the Secret Place of the Most High is deeper than that.

The secret place is the will of God!

The secret place is a posture of the heart. It is the address of a life that has decided to stay completely inside the will of God.

Assuming you are playing outdoors on a hot, sunny day. The sun is really bright, but your huge dad is standing right next to you, casting a big, dark shadow on the ground. As long as you stay right inside his shadow, you stay cool and protected from the heat. But if you run far away from him, you step right out of his shadow into the burning sun.

That shadow isn’t a magical box sitting on the grass. It only stays over you because you are standing close to your dad. If he takes three steps forward and you stand still, you are out of his shadow. If he turns to walk toward the house and you run toward the street, you lose his cover. The only way to stay in his shadow is to walk where he walks, stop when he stops, and follow his footsteps.

That is exactly what the “secret place” is. God doesn’t have a hidden room with a secret door that you lock yourself into.

His “secret place” is just living so close to Him that His shadow covers your whole life. Staying in His shadow simply means listening to His voice and doing what He asks you to do. When He says “walk this way,” you walk that way. When He says “wait,” you wait.

When you obey God and live the way He designed you to live, you are staying right inside His shadow. You don’t have to worry or be afraid, because the big, strong Father is standing right over you, keeping you safe every step of the way.

This is the great thread that runs through the entire Bible. Every man and woman who walked under the covering of God first learned to walk in the will of God. Their safety was never found in a geographical location. Their safety was found in remaining where God wanted them to be, doing what God had asked them to do, in the season He had appointed for them.

Let us look again at Noah. Was the secret place the ark? No. The ark was only the expression of God’s will. Had Noah decided to build a more beautiful ark somewhere else, or delayed until after the rain began, the ark itself would not have saved him. His preservation was found in obeying the word of God exactly as it was given.

And Elijah? Was the secret place the brook Cherith? No! When the brook dried up, God spoke again and sent him to Zarephath (1 Kings 17:9). The brook changed. The widow’s house changed. The locations changed. Yet the secret place never changed because the secret place had never been the brook. It had always been the will of God.

The same was true of Abraham. The will of God led him to leave his father’s house. At another time it led him into Canaan. Later it led him to Egypt, then back again. Eventually it led him to Mount Moriah with Isaac. The places changed many times, yet Abraham remained in one place throughout his journey:

the will of God!

That was where he received the covenant followed him. That was where the promises accompanied him. That was where God’s protection rested upon his life.

Yet even Abraham gives us a solemn warning.

When he stepped outside the script to produce Ishmael through human effort, the Scriptures record a heavy, 13-year divine silence from Genesis 16:16 to 17:1. No altars, no new visions, no fresh revelation. God did not abandon him, but He refused to edit His eternal plan to fit Abraham’s shortcut. Only when Abraham returned to the posture of total surrender did Heaven break the silence, reaffirming that the promises of God are only fulfilled through the life of God.

Jonah stepped onto a ship heading to Tarshish. He was on a strong boat, surrounded by seasoned sailors, but he had zero covering. Why? Because he stepped outside the Script.

Saul kept his crown, his army, and his religious sacrifices, but because he rejected the precise word of the Lord, his kingdom was torn from him ina very shameful way.

You can be in a palace and be totally exposed, or you can be in a wilderness like Jesus, surrounded by temptation and wild beasts, and be completely impenetrable because you are walking in the Holy Ghost’s assignment.

This should make us understand prayer, fasting, worship, meditation upon the Scriptures, and every other spiritual discipline even better.

These are precious gifts that draw us near to God. They are the places where our hearts are softened, our ears become attentive, and our spirits are trained to recognise His voice.

They are the places where He corrects us, redirects us, strengthens us, and reveals Himself to us. Yet He does all this for one great purpose:

to bring us into His will.

Prayer is where we seek His will. The Word is where He reveals His will. The Holy Spirit is the One who leads us into His will. Obedience is how we remain in His will. Everything is moving toward the same destination.

This is why our Lord Jesus taught us to pray,

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10)

The highest cry of prayer is not, “Lord, bless my plans.” It is, “Father, accomplish Your will in me.”

The greatest victory in prayer is not persuading God to agree with us. It is yielding until our hearts agree with Him.

Once this truth settles in our hearts, Psalm 91 can be seen with fresh light. The secret place is no longer mysterious but becomes wonderfully clear:

To dwell in the secret place is to live continually in the will of God.

That is the place where His shadow rests. That is the place where His provision is found. That is the place where His grace is sufficient. That is the place where every circumstance, even the painful ones, is woven together by His wisdom for His glory and for our good (Romans 8:28).

That is why the will of God is the safest place on earth. It is the place where Heaven’s purposes are unfolding. It is the place where God’s presence goes before us, His hand upholds us, and His shadow covers us.

There is no safer place for a believer than to be exactly where God wants him to be, doing exactly what God has asked him to do.

The Secret Place Revealed Throughout the Scriptures

Once we understand that the secret place is the will of God, we begin to see it everywhere in the Scriptures. We then discover that the men and women who enjoyed the covering, preservation, power, and favour of God all had one thing in common:

they lived inside His revealed will!

We have looked at Noah, Elijah and Abraham.

Moses also lived this way. One day he was keeping sheep in the wilderness, and the next day he stood before a burning bush where God revealed His purpose for his life (Exodus 3). From that moment onward, Moses did not determine his own journey. Every movement came from the voice of God.

When the cloud moved, Israel moved. When the cloud remained, Israel remained (Numbers 9:17-23). Their safety was never found in the wilderness itself. Their safety was found beneath the government of God. As long as they followed His leading, He became a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

Jeremiah’s story began before his birth.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

God did not ask Jeremiah to invent a purpose for his life. He simply revealed the purpose He had already established. Jeremiah’s responsibility was to embrace the script Heaven had written.

And no one demonstrated this truth more perfectly than our Lord Jesus Christ. His entire earthly life was governed by one pursuit: the will of His Father.

“My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” (John 4:34)

Again He said,

“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” (John 6:38)

Even in Gethsemane, facing the agony of the cross, His prayer remained the same:

“Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” (Luke 22:42)

In John 8:29, He further unlocks the central secret of His impenetrable walk on earth:

“And He who sent Me is with Me (shadow). The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him. (Will of God)“

Jesus did not enjoy divine backing because of His title alone; He walked in absolute, untouchable protection because He never took a single step outside the Father’s script. Every word He spoke was what He heard the Father say; every work He did was what He saw the Father do.

The Father never left Him alone because Jesus never walked alone. He walked strictly inside the will of God. That is why mobs could not stone Him before His hour, storms could not sink His boat, and death itself could not hold Him. His sanctuary was His alignment with the Father’s pleasure.

When you make pleasing the Father your singular address, you step into that same unbroken fellowship. You are never left alone, because Heaven never abandons a son or daughter who is walking out the Father’s script.

The Apostle Paul walked the same path. His life changed forever on the road to Damascus when he encountered the risen Christ. His first response was not to ask what he could become, but, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” (Acts 9:6). From that moment onward, Paul laid aside his own ambitions and devoted the rest of his life to knowing Christ, obeying His heavenly calling, and fulfilling the will of the One who had called him. “Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision” (Acts 26:19).

Though David was anointed king while still a young shepherd, many years passed before he sat upon Israel’s throne. Yet David refused to seize the kingdom by his own strength. He would not stretch out his hand against Saul because he understood that God’s timing was as much a part of God’s will as God’s promise. In time, the Scriptures testify,

“David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep…” (Acts 13:36)

What a testimony! He served by the will of God!

From Noah to Abraham, from Moses to Jeremiah, from David to Paul, and supremely in the Lord Jesus Christ, the testimony remains the same. Every one of them found the secret place in exactly the same location: the will of God!

Different assignments, different generations, different paths, yet one dwelling place.

They lived where God wanted them to live, walked where God wanted them to walk, endured what God wanted them to endure, enjoyed what God wanted them to enjoy, became what the Lord wanted them to become, and fulfilled what God had written concerning them.

That is why Heaven sustained them. That is why God’s shadow rested upon them.

And that is why the will of God remains, today, the safest place on earth.

What Is a Will?

Before we can understand the will of God, we must first understand what a will is.

The word will simply speaks of what someone has decided in his heart to do. It is an intention, a purpose, a determination. It is the desire that gives birth to action. Long before something becomes visible, it first exists in the will.

When a man says, “I will build a house,” the house may not yet exist physically, but it already exists within him. He has conceived it. He has purposed it. He has set his heart upon it. Every decision he now makes is directed towards bringing that purpose to pass.

When someone says, “I will travel tomorrow,” he is expressing more than a future action. He is revealing the direction of his heart. His will has already settled the matter, and his actions will simply follow what has already been determined within.

This is true in every area of life. Every invention, every building, every book, every business, every family, every achievement first existed in the will of someone before it appeared in reality.

The visible is always born from the invisible. The action is born from the intention. The work is born from the will.

A will, therefore, is the settled purpose that governs everything else.

It answers the question, “What is this person seeking to accomplish?” Every plan, every instruction, every decision, and every action flows from that one purpose.

Once we understand what a will is, we are ready to ask a far greater question:

What, then, is the will of God?

What Is the Will of God?

If a will is the settled purpose and intention of a person, then the will of God is God’s own eternal purpose. It is what He purposed in His heart before time began. It is His intention, His design, His desire, and His pleasure. It is what He has determined to accomplish, and everything He does moves towards the fulfilment of that purpose.

When we speak about the will of God, we are not first speaking about what job to take, whom to marry, where to live, or what ministry to enter. Those are expressions of His will. The will of God is much deeper than decisions. It is His grand purpose. It is the reason behind everything He does and the reason behind everything He created.

This is exactly what we see in the call of Jeremiah.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

God did not begin by telling him what to do. He first revealed why he existed.

“Before I formed you…”

“I knew you.”

“I sanctified you.”

“I ordained you.”

Jeremiah did not create his assignment. He discovered it. Heaven had already written the story before Jeremiah entered the stage.

God had already determined why He was forming this particular child in his mother’s womb. His life was never an accident. His calling was never an afterthought. His purpose did not begin on the day he received the prophetic word. The prophetic word simply unveiled what had always been in the heart of God.

This is true of every one of us.

Before you took your first breath, God already knew why He was sending you into the earth. Before your parents knew your name, Heaven already knew your assignment. Before you made your first decision, God had already prepared works for you to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). Your life was designed by divine wisdom long before it unfolded in human history.

The General Will Before the Specific Will

One of the greatest mistakes believers make is thinking that the will of God begins with discovering a specific assignment. Many spend years asking, “Lord, what is Your purpose for my life?” while overlooking everything God has already revealed.

God always begins with what He has made known before He unveils what He has kept hidden.

His general will has already been revealed in the Scriptures. Through His Word, He has shown us the kind of people we are to become and the kind of lives we are to live. He calls us to holiness, to love, to forgiveness, to humility, to purity, to prayer, to obedience, to faith, to walking in the Spirit, and to seeking first His kingdom. These are not matters left to personal opinion or private interpretation. They have already been revealed by God.

Yet the written Word reaches its full purpose only as the Holy Spirit breathes upon it and makes it living within us.

The general will of God is not meant to just be information stored in our minds. It is meant to be the Scriptures made alive by the Holy Spirit and embraced in daily obedience.

Then, as we yield to the Spirit, the written Word becomes Rhema: living, active, personal, and transformative. It shapes our character, renews our minds, and teaches us to recognise the voice of our Shepherd.

This is God’s pattern throughout the Scriptures.

David first learned faithfulness in lonely fields before he was entrusted with a throne.

Elisha faithfully followed Elijah before he carried the prophetic mantle.

The disciples first walked with Jesus before they were sent into the nations.

Faithfulness in what God has already spoken prepares the heart to receive what He has not yet revealed.

And as we walk faithfully in His revealed will, God gradually unfolds His specific will.

He reveals the assignment, the timing, the place, the people, and the work He prepared uniquely for us. He does not usually reveal the whole story in a single moment. He unfolds His script one chapter at a time, teaching us to walk by faith and not by sight.

This is how Jeremiah discovered his calling. This is how Moses entered his assignment. This is how Paul was led from city to city by the Holy Spirit.

God’s servants did not begin with complete knowledge of the journey. They began with obedience to the light they had received. As they walked in that light, more light was given.

The same God still leads His children today. He first establishes us in His revealed will, and then, in His perfect time, He unveils the specific role He has written for each of our lives.

His Purpose; Not Mine

One of the most common expressions we hear today is, “I want to discover my purpose.” It sounds noble. It sounds spiritual. Yet if we listen carefully to the language of Scripture, we discover that the emphasis is significantly off.

The Bible continually directs our attention away from ourselves and back to God. The greatest question is not, “What is my purpose?” The greatest question is, “Lord, what is Your purpose concerning me?”

That difference changes everything.

Heaven calls us to something far greater. God never created man to become the centre of his own story. We exist because of Him, through Him, and for Him.

“For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” (Romans 11:36)

Our lives find their meaning only as they return to the One from whom they came.

This explains why so many people achieve everything they set out to accomplish and still feel empty within. They fulfilled their ambitions, yet Heaven had written a different story. They climbed the ladder they built for themselves while God’s ladder stood untouched beside it.

Success outside the will of God remains failure in the courts of Heaven because eternity measures life by obedience, not by earthly achievement.

When Paul wrote to the Ephesians, he did not say that we are building our own lives. He declared,

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Before ordained.

Before you were born…

Before you made your first decision…

Before anyone knew your name…

God had already prepared works for you to walk in!

This is why the cry of a yielded heart is not, “Lord, establish my plans.” but “Father, reveal what You had in Your heart when You created me.”

That is the cry of surrender.

That is the language of sonship.

That is the beginning of true purpose.

Life Is Heaven’s Grand Script

One simple way to understand the will of God is to picture a great movie or stage production.

Long before the cameras begin to roll or the curtain opens, the script has already been written: every chapter has been carefully thought through, every conversation written, every scene planned, every entrance timed, and every exit decided.

Every victory, conflict, sacrifice, and resolution has already found its place in the story, and nothing is accidental because the Author has already seen the end from the beginning.

Only after the script is complete does the casting begin. Each actor is assigned a role, some appearing in the opening scenes while others enter much later, some remaining on the stage for many years while others appear briefly yet indispensably to the unfolding of the story.

No actor chooses his own role; the Author and Director determine where each person belongs because they alone understand the whole story.

The kingdom of God is like that. Before the foundation of the world, God had already written His great story. The story of His eternal purpose in Christ.

Before you and I were ever born, the Author had already prepared the works we should walk in (Ephesians 2:10), determining the generation into which we would be born, the gifts He would entrust to us, the people we would influence, the battles we would fight, and the part we would play in His eternal purpose.

This is the will of God: it is not simply discovering what job to do, whom to marry, or where to live, but discovering the role that Heaven has assigned to you in God’s grand story and faithfully playing that role until your work is finished.

Abraham entered the stage exactly when God called him, Moses fulfilled his assignment and departed, Joshua took his place, David served his generation by the will of God, Esther appeared “for such a time as this,” and John the Baptist prepared the way and stepped aside. Each one entered the story, fulfilled the role Heaven had assigned, and left the stage when the Director determined that their work was complete.

Even our Lord Jesus Christ lived this way. Again and again He spoke of the things that were written concerning Him. He came because it was written, He taught because it was written, He suffered because it was written, He died because it was written, and He rose again because it was written. The Scriptures had already spoken of Bethlehem before He was born there, of Nazareth, of the colt that would carry Him into Jerusalem, of the thirty pieces of silver, of the piercing of His hands and feet, of the casting of lots for His garments, and of His resurrection on the third day.

Every scene unfolded exactly according to the script the Father had written; Jesus never attempted to write another story, but simply lived the one the Father had already written.

Now imagine the tragedy of stepping outside the will of God. Imagine an actor who walks onto the stage and decides he no longer likes the role he has been given; he envies another character, dislikes his lines, or wants more attention, a different position, or another ending; so he abandons the script and begins making up his own story.

What happens?

He doesn’t improve the production; he destroys his participation in it. The other actors can no longer relate to him because he is no longer following the script, the scenes no longer fit together, and the story is interrupted because one actor has refused the role assigned to him.

Spiritually, this is what happens whenever we leave the will of God: we are not simply making another choice, we are walking away from the role Heaven entrusted to us. We begin chasing another person’s assignment, comparing ourselves with another person’s calling, and seeking another person’s platform, influence, gifts, or applause, slowly stopping our participation in the story God is telling to pursue a story of our own.

Yet there are only two stories unfolding in history: there is the story God has been writing from before the foundation of the world, culminating in Christ and His eternal Kingdom, and there is the story of rebellion that Satan has been writing ever since he said, “I will ascend.”

There is no neutral script; every life is contributing to one story or the other. That is why the secret place is the safest place on earth. To dwell in the secret place is to remain where the Director has placed you, refusing the temptation to exchange your assignment for another person’s, trusting the wisdom of the Author even when your role seems hidden, difficult, or misunderstood, and saying, “Father, if this is the place You have appointed for me, then here I will remain until You call me to the next scene.”

Many great men and women have already played their part and left the stage. Abraham has gone, Moses has gone, David has gone, Elijah has gone, and Paul has gone. Their scenes have ended, but the story continues, and now it is our generation’s turn. One day our own scene will also come to an end, and another generation will take the stage after us.

The only question that will matter then is not how famous we became, how much money we made, or how many people applauded us, but this: did I faithfully play the part the Author wrote for me?

That is the will of God, that is the secret place, that is abiding under the shadow of the Almighty, and that is where Zoe finds its fullest expression; because the life of God was never given to help us write our own story, but so that God Himself might continue telling His story through us until the final chapter is complete.

This also helps us understand one of the most misunderstood verses in the Bible: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Did you see all things? It does not say only the pleasant things or only the victorious moments, but all things. This is where many believers become confused: when suffering comes, they immediately conclude that they have stepped outside the will of God.

No!

Joseph’s prison was inside the script, David’s wilderness was inside the script, Jeremiah’s tears were inside the script, Daniel’s lions’ den was inside the script, Paul’s imprisonments were inside the script, and above all, the cross of Christ was inside the script. None of these things happened because God lost control, nor did any of them interrupt His purpose; every one of them became part of the story through which God accomplished something eternal.

Sometimes God’s will leads beside still waters, and sometimes it leads through the valley of the shadow of death, but the Shepherd remains the same, the destination remains the same, the presence remains the same, and the script remains the same. When we understand this, we stop measuring God’s will by the comfort of the journey and begin measuring it by the presence of the Shepherd. Our confidence no longer rests in favourable circumstances but in the faithfulness of the One who is leading us—if He has written this chapter, then He has already prepared the grace to live through it, and if He has allowed this season, then He has already woven it into His eternal purpose.

This brings us to the great error many believers make: they seek the will of God for one major decision like marriage most importantly, and once that decision has been made, they return to governing their own lives.

Someone spends months praying, “Lord, is this the person You have chosen for me?”, God answers, they marry, and then they stop seeking His will in the marriage.

Another seeks God’s will concerning a career, the Lord opens the door, and then every decision afterwards is made without asking Him.

Someone else seeks God’s will before entering ministry, and once the ministry begins, they gradually replace dependence upon God with experience, strategy, and personal wisdom.

The will of God is treated as a doorway instead of a pathway. But no! The will of God is not an event, but a way of life; it is not one decision, but a continual walk. Every day brings fresh opportunities to surrender, every season requires fresh obedience, and every chapter of the story calls for fresh dependence upon the Author.

Jesus did not seek the Father’s will only before beginning His ministry; throughout His entire earthly life He remained yielded to the Father, saying, “The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do” (John 5:19), and again, “I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me” (John 5:30). Even on the night before the cross, His prayer had not changed: “Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42).

That is what dwelling looks like: waking each day with one desire (“Father, what have You written for today?”), walking through every season with one prayer (“Lead me in Your will”), and finishing each chapter with one testimony: “I have served my generation by the will of God” (Acts 13:36). This is the life that dwells in the secret place, the life that abides under the shadow of the Almighty which is the safest place on earth.

Why Is the Will of God the Safest Place on Earth?

The will of God is the safest place on earth because God only sponsors His own will.

God has never promised to finance my ambitions, He has never promised to defend my plans, and He has never promised to establish my dreams; but He has pledged Himself completely to the accomplishment of His own purpose.

God is utterly committed to His script: He never abandons what He has written, He never forgets a chapter, He never overlooks a scene, and He never fails to finish what He begins.

Every resource of Heaven stands behind His will: the Father authored it, the Son sealed it with His own Blood, the Holy Spirit is unfolding it day by day, the angels are sent forth to minister in its accomplishment, and all creation is moving toward the glorious conclusion God wrote before the foundation of the world.

Why then would I ever feel safer outside the story than inside it?

During the film production where the Director has assembled the cast, every scene has been prepared, every location secured, every line written, every prop positioned, and every supporting actor knows exactly when to enter so that nothing is left to chance. Now imagine one actor suddenly deciding, “I no longer want this role; I will leave the set and make my own movie.”

The entire production continues without him: the cameras do not follow him, the Director does not rewrite the story around him, and the crew does not abandon the set to support his imagination: all the resources remain where the script is being fulfilled. So it is with God!

Heaven does not finance human ambition; it only finances divine purpose. Every provision God has prepared is waiting where His will is being obeyed: every grace has been assigned to a calling, every supply has been appointed to an assignment, every anointing belongs to a purpose, and every protection belongs to obedience.

The husband He ordained for your role is in the script, the wife He prepared for your assignment is in the script, and the family into which you were born was part of the script.

The city where He wants you to live is in the script, the people you are meant to meet are in the script, the relationships that will sharpen you are in the script, the doors He intends to open are in the script, and the closed doors that will preserve you are in the script. The seasons of hiddenness are in the script; the dealings that will humble you, refine you, break your pride, enlarge your heart, and conform you to the image of Christ are all in the script.

The battles that will strengthen your faith are in the script, the waiting seasons that will teach you dependence are in the script, the suffering that will produce eternal glory is in the script, the people you are called to serve are in the script, and the works prepared beforehand for you to walk in are in the script. Nothing has been left to chance.

When I step outside the will of God, I do not just leave a place, I leave the environment where every provision for my assignment has already been prepared.

But when I remain in His will, I discover that the Author has gone before me: He has arranged every scene, prepared every resource, ordained every relationship, and supplied every grace necessary for the successful fulfilment of the role He assigned to me.

That is why the will of God is the safest place on earth. God is completely committed to the successful completion of His own story, and He will spare no resource to ensure that every son and daughter who remains in His script is brought safely to the final scene He has written for them.

That is why Jesus was never anxious; He remained inside the Father’s script, declaring at the end, “It is finished” (John 19:30).

The Script had been perfectly fulfilled. Nothing dared interrupt the Father’s story before its appointed time: Herod could not, the Pharisees could not, the storms could not, the demons could not, and death itself could not, because Heaven was fully committed to the accomplishment of the Father’s will, and nothing could prematurely invade the set while the Director was still calling, “Action.”

That is the confidence of every believer who dwells in the secret place: no power of darkness has permission to rewrite the story God is telling through your life, no devil can cancel a scene the Author has ordained, and no weapon can silence a witness whose assignment is not yet complete.

One story will echo throughout eternity: the story God Himself has written and blessed is the man or woman who remains faithfully in that story until the Director says, “Well done.”

How Do We Discover His Will?

If the will of God is the safest place on earth, then discovering that will becomes one of the greatest pursuits of our lives.

Maybe someone is asking, “How then do I discover the will of God?”

The truth is, we have spent this entire Juicy July answering that question.

The will of God is not discovered through a shortcut or a secret formula. It is discovered through a life of fellowship with God.

Day after day, we have learnt to pray. We have learnt to remain in the Scriptures. We have learnt to cultivate intimacy with the Holy Spirit. We have learnt to develop spiritual consciousness. We have learnt to walk with the Father throughout the day, speaking with Him, listening to Him, acknowledging Him in everything we do. Like a walkie-talkie that never goes silent, our communion with Him is meant to continue whether we are working, eating, travelling, resting, or serving.

There is no substitute for this kind of relationship.

The will of God is not hidden from those who walk closely with Him.

And no, you will not develop this in a day. You develop it over a lifetime of walking with your Father.

As you continue abiding in Christ, feeding on His Word, praying without ceasing, obeying His voice, and growing in spiritual maturity, the Author will continue unveiling the next scene of the story. You do not have to see the whole script at once. You only need enough light for the next step, trusting that the One who wrote the story knows exactly where He is leading you.

God is not merely interested in showing you the next chapter of the script; He is interested in raising a son or daughter who knows the Author so intimately that when He whispers, they recognise His voice immediately.

That is why the Christian life is a walk.

Every day, another step.

Every day, another lesson.

Every day, another act of obedience.

Every day, another page of the script unfolds.

The more you know the Author, the more naturally you will recognise the story He has written for you.

That is the Christian life.

That is how we discover His will.

And no, there is no substitute for this kind of relationship.

Why then should you fret?

If all of this is true, that your safety, your supply, and your whole existence are already wrapped up in the Father’s care, why are you anxious?

Why are you exhausting yourself trying to figure out tomorrow when the Author of your life has already written the story?

He is not trying to make this hard for you; He is simply inviting you to trust Him. Long before you were formed in your mother’s womb, He prepared every single step of your path, along with the exact grace you would need for every season you will ever walk through.

Living this way means laying down the heavy burden of endless striving. The writer of Hebrews tells us that those who enter God’s rest have ceased from their own works, just as God did from His. (Hebrews 4:9-11)

Imagine what it feels like to live without the constant, draining pressure of trying to force your life to happen. Imagine laying down comparison, confusion, and fear because you are utterly convinced that your Father knows what He is doing.

That is what real faith looks like. It is the freedom of knowing that your greatest job is not controlling your future, but simply learning His heart and walking in His will.

Every single detail of your life is already factored into His Script. The work through which He will provide for you, the home where you will live, the husband you will get married to, the car you will drive, what towns you will live in, the people He will surround you with, and even the tiny, seemingly insignificant choices of your day all matter to Him.

Nothing about you is too small for His attention.

Instead of carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, you can simply pause and ask, “Father, what would You have me do today? Where would You have me go?” Then, take a deep breath and wait, because He still speaks, and He delights in leading those who truly trust Him.

So, Let’s Get Back to the Script

As we round off today, I believe the Holy Spirit is saying one thing to every one of us: come back to the script.

Our lives were never meant to be stories written by our own ambitions, our fears, the expectations of men, or the spirit of this age. Before we ever entered this world, our Father already had a story in His heart.

He already knew why He was sending us here, He had already prepared the works we should walk in, and He had already written every chapter with perfect wisdom.

The safest place on earth is to remain inside that story.

We have spent these days talking about Zoe, the very life of God, and now we understand why that life was given to us. Zoe was never given to help us succeed in our own story; Zoe was given so that God could continue His story through us.

This is why this statement is NOT biblical: Only One Life So Soon It Will Pass, Only What’s Done for Christ Will Last

The New Covenant goes much deeper: only what God does will last, only what He begins will last, only what He authors will last, only what He empowers will last, and only what His own life accomplishes through yielded vessels will remain throughout eternity. Everything else belongs to another story.

Dear sis, perhaps somewhere along the journey we picked up the pen and began writing for ourselves. Today, let us put the pen back into the hands of the Author.

When He says, “Stay,” let us stay. When He says, “Go,” let us go. When He says, “Wait,” let us wait. When He says, “Speak,” let us speak. When He says, “Be silent,” let us be silent.

Let us never envy another person’s chapter, let us never compete for another person’s role, and let us never try to rewrite what infinite wisdom has already perfected.

Let us simply dwell in the secret place, dwelling in His will, for everything we need has already been written into that story: the grace, the strength, the provision, the protection, the healing, the relationships, the victories, and even the storms. The Author never writes a chapter without first preparing the grace needed to live it.

By the way, do you remember the Book of Life?

Why is it called the Book of Life?

Because it belongs to the Author of Life; it belongs to Zoe.

Throughout the Scriptures, God warns about names being blotted out of that Book (Exodus 32:32–33; Psalm 69:28), while the Lord Jesus promises the overcomer in Revelation 3:5, “I will not blot out his name out of the book of life…”, and John tells us that only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life enter the Holy City (Revelation 21:27).

What a thought.

The Book of Life belongs to the God of Life; it is the record of those who belong to His life, those who have chosen His life, those who have remained in His life, and those who have continued in His story until the end.

The Book of Life.

Are you seeing that? I checked the Greek interpretation online and it says: Biblíon tēs Zōēs

Did you see????

Zoe!

This is not just a static registry of names, but the divine record of those who lived by Zoe, walking strictly according to the script authored by the God of Life Himself. To have your name remaining in that Book means you refused to draft your own narrative, refused to perform in another man’s theater, and chose instead to let the uncreated, indestructible life of God write every single line of your existence.

When God speaks of names being retained or blotted out of this Book of Zoe, He is speaking about alignment with His eternal purpose. Those who chose to abide in the Vine versus those who broke away to pursue an unsponsored, independent script.

Only those whose lives were fueled by Zoe, doing the Father’s will according to the grand Biblíon, are recognized by Heaven as having truly lived. Everything else was mere survival, a temporary noise that fades when the final curtain falls.

To be found in the Lamb’s Book of Life is to be found inside the completed story of the Son. It is the ultimate confirmation that you did not just pass through the earth on your own terms, but by the Director of the ages.

When you live by Zoe, your life becomes an extension of His life, your story merges into His story, and your name remains forever engraved in the eternal record of the Author who finishes everything He begins.

Therefore, our prayer as we conclude this day should be: “Father, I want to abide in the story You are telling through my life. Do not let me write another chapter. Do not let me pursue another dream. Do not let me build another kingdom. Keep me in Your will, keep me in Your life, and keep me in Your story…” Until, like David, “after he had served his own generation by the will of God, [he] fell on sleep…” (Acts 13:36).

May that be our testimony. May we dwell in the secret place of the Most High, abide under the shadow of the Almighty, and remain in the story the Author of Life is telling through us. For that is Zoe unleashed.

Dear sister, it is that special moment. Take the next 10 minutes to stir the waters by praying in the Holy Ghost. Gladly embrace this sacred pause. Let the instrumental below play as you lift your voice in prayer. Do not rush. Pray until your spirit is refreshed and your heart is stirred.

This is Father to daughter.
This is Spirit to spirit.
Yield yourself completely to Him.

If you have not yet received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, this is your moment. Cry out to your loving Father with all your heart:

TAKE CHARGE

Father, in the mighty Name of Jesus, I present myself before You today. I sanctify my spirit, my soul, my body, my home, and this entire atmosphere unto You. Let every part of me and every space around me come under the government of the Holy Spirit.
By the precious blood of Jesus, I declare that this atmosphere belongs to the Kingdom of God. I establish the Lordship of Jesus Christ over this place. Let every power, every influence, every imagination, every distraction, and every operation of darkness be silenced and brought into absolute submission to the authority of Christ.
I declare that I am a vessel of the living God. My spirit is open to Heaven alone. My ears are open to hear. My eyes are open to see. My heart is soft and ready to receive. Every veil over my understanding is removed in the Name of Jesus. Every resistance to the working of the Holy Spirit is broken.
Father, breathe upon me afresh. Let Your Zoe arise within me. Let every dead place receive Your life. Let every weary place receive Your strength. Let every dark place be flooded with Your light. Let everything in me that is not of Christ bow before the power of Your indestructible life.
I command every strange spirit, every demonic presence, every satanic interference, every spirit of heaviness, confusion, fear, distraction, slumber, deception, oppression, and resistance to the Word of God to leave this atmosphere now, in the mighty Name of Jesus. You have no place here. Jesus Christ is Lord over this home, this room, this meeting, and my life.
I release the rivers of living water from within my spirit to flow freely throughout this atmosphere. Let the presence of God fill this place. Let the ministry of angels prevail. Let the voice of the Holy Spirit be loud and clear. Let Heaven invade this atmosphere.
Today, I take my place as a son of God, a temple of the Holy Spirit, and a carrier of the life of God. I refuse every distraction. I refuse every condemnation. I refuse every limitation. My heart is fixed on Christ, and I receive all that the Father has prepared for me today.
Father, take absolute charge. Glorify Your Son. Let Your Kingdom come. Let Your will be done in me and through me. Let Zoe be unleashed afresh in every part of my life. In the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.

START PRAYING

Cry out from your heart:

Father, plant me permanently in the secret place. Let my heart never wander from Your will again, in the Name of Jesus.

O Lord, teach me Your ways. Train my ears to hear Your voice, my heart to recognize Your leading, and my spirit to discern Your will. Make it easy for me to know Your mind in every situation, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, raise me as You raised David. Train me in the secret place before You reveal me in the public place. Build my character before You build my platform, in the Name of Jesus.

Destroy every spirit of self-will in me. Crucify every ambition that did not originate from You. Let my greatest delight be to do Your will, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, keep me from writing my own story. Let me faithfully fulfil every line You have written concerning my life. I shall not miss my divine timing or divine assignment, in the Name of Jesus.

Every voice competing with the voice of my Shepherd in my mind, be silenced forever by the Blood of Jesus. Holy Spirit, make Your voice louder than every fear, distraction, and confusion, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, wherever I have stepped outside Your will through ignorance, impatience, fear, pride, unbelief, or fleshly wisdom, have mercy upon me and restore me to the secret place, in the Name of Jesus.

Give me grace to remain. When You say stay, I will stay. When You say go, I will go. When You say wait, I will wait. Let obedience become my lifestyle, in the Name of Jesus.

Every strange relationship, opportunity, assignment, or door sent to pull me outside Your will, I reject you by the fire of the Holy Ghost. Every relationship, place, opportunity, and resource You have ordained for my destiny, locate me by divine orchestration, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, deliver me from every anxious heart. Teach me to rest completely in Your perfect will, in the Name of Jesus.

Lord, increase my faith until I trust You with every detail of my life. Let me never doubt that You have already gone ahead of me, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, I lay down every burden of comparison, confusion, fear, and striving. I enter into Your rest today, in the Name of Jesus.

Holy Spirit, make me sensitive to Your voice. Teach me to recognize Your leading in both the great decisions and the little details of my daily life, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, lead me into every relationship, every place, every opportunity, and every assignment You prepared for me before the foundation of the world. Let me miss nothing You have written concerning me, in the Name of Jesus.

Lord, let every decision I make be governed by Your wisdom. Whether in my home, my work, my ministry, or my future, let Your will prevail over my own, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, give me the courage to wait until You speak. Deliver me from every premature decision and every fleshly shortcut. I receive grace to follow Your timing, in the Name of Jesus.

Lord, use every dealing You have ordained for my life to refine me, humble me, strengthen me, and conform me to the image of Christ. I shall not waste my wilderness or fail Your dealings, in the Name of Jesus.

Because I dwell in the secret place of the Most High, I declare that I abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Therefore, I receive divine preservation, divine protection, divine provision, divine direction, divine favour, divine wisdom, divine peace, answered prayers, angelic assistance, and victory over every work of darkness, in the Name of Jesus.

Father, let no arrow of darkness, no weapon of hell, no counsel of the wicked, and no power of the enemy terminate or corrupt the story You are telling through my life. I shall serve my generation by the will of God, finish my course with joy, and hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant,” in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.

FATHER’S CORNER

Let the instrumental below play softly while you spend time with your Father. Imagine Him seated right before you. Now, begin to talk to Him as though you can see Him. Heaven is open. Your Father is waiting.

Ask freely. Ask sincerely. Ask for meat, not chaff. Pour out your heart without reservation. This is not a religious exercise; it is a conversation between a Father and His beloved child.

Spend these next 10 minutes unhurried in His presence. If your heart longs to remain longer, please do. Give Him your attention. Listen as much as you speak. Those things in your journal, open them up and cry them out to your Father.

When you are done, round off your time with heartfelt thanksgiving.

PRAYER OF AGREEMENT

Let us pray together as one and see the glory of God. Do not remain silent or just say ‘Amen’. Follow the prayer carefully, open your mouth, and pray along. Repeat each declaration with faith and from the depths of your heart. Let every prayer become your own sincere cry to God.

Remember, this prayer covers every one of us. As you wholeheartedly stand in agreement for your sisters, they are also standing in agreement for you. “Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” (Matthew 7:12). Therefore, pray earnestly, believe confidently, and expect the Lord to answer.

Now, let us lift up our voices together in faith.

Shall we agree together in prayers?

I go first, you go with me. Let’s pray.

Our Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, thank You for another day of Juicy July. Thank You because Your mercies are new every morning.

Your Word says that if two of us shall agree on earth concerning anything that we ask, it shall be done by our Father in heaven.

Your Word says that where two or three are gathered together in Your name, You are there in the midst of them.

Therefore, Father, today we stand before You as one family, one altar, and one body in Christ.

We come into agreement according to Your Word, and we receive by faith all that You have purposed to do in this season.

Father, we agree that every participant of Juicy July who has not yet truly encountered Jesus Christ shall be saved.

Let every backslider return home. Let every heart be awakened. Let Christ be revealed, and let many come into the knowledge of the truth.

Father, we agree that every hungry heart shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit. No one desiring the gift of the Holy Spirit will leave Juicy July without experiencing it in Jesus.

Father, we agree concerning every sister and every participant whose spiritual hunger has grown cold. Who have no burden for prayers, Father, awaken them by Your mercy.

Let a fresh hunger for Your presence arise in them. Let a holy burden for prayer fall upon them in Jesus Name.

Fill every participant who has experienced the Holy Ghost baptism afresh, Lord. Stir up every spiritual gift. Awaken every grace. Deepen our intimacy with You.

Empower us to live holy lives, to pray fervently, and to fulfil your will for our lives. Let Your Life be fully unleashed within us in the Name of Jesus.

Father, we agree concerning every participant and every name brought before this altar. Let every sickness bow to the name of Jesus. By His stripes, we decree healing.

We agree for creative miracles, Lord. Let damaged organs be restored, missing parts be created, blind eyes be opened, deaf ears hear, and impossible cases become undeniable testimonies, all for the glory of Jesus Christ.

Father, we agree concerning every waiting family. By Your mercy, release the babies You have promised. Let the sound of rejoicing replace the cry of barrenness.

Heal every husband and every wife. Restore every reproductive system. Open every womb according to Your mercy, and let these children be born for Your glory.

Father, we agree concerning kingdom marriages. Bring together those You have prepared for one another.

Bone to her bone, flesh to his flesh.

Break every demonic influence on their marital life, every delay, every deception, every counterfeit relationship, and every barrier standing against Your purpose. Destroy by fire!

Establish for you, godly homes that will glorify Christ and advance Your Kingdom.

Father, we agree concerning the finances of every participant. Open every door You have ordained.

Open every window of heaven over our lives. Break every chain of lack, stagnation, and financial oppression.

Release divine provision, favour, wisdom, opportunities, and abundant supply, that we may abound unto every good work and have more than enough to advance Your Kingdom.

Father, let Your Kingdom come. Let Your will be done in Africa as it is in heaven. Visit Nigeria and every nation represented in this Juicy July. Let the bloodshed cease. Let kidnappings cease. Let terrorism cease. Let violence and corruption be brought low. Let righteousness be exalted.

Purify Your Church. Remove compromise, falsehood, and worldliness. Raise faithful shepherds, bold witnesses, holy families, and labourers who will make disciples for Your glory.

Holy Spirit, take over the church in Nigeria, Africa and the nations again, by your mercy.

Father, because we carry the life of Christ, we decree that every manifestation of death must give way to life. Let sickness give way to life. Let barrenness give way to life. Let weakness give way to life. Let dryness give way to life. Let fear give way to life. Let discouragement give way to life. Let every area where death has spoken be overwhelmed by the life of God.

Let Zoe be unleashed in us, through us, and around us in Jesus Name.

Juicy July, hear the word of the Lord!

No delays, no roadblocks, and no excuses! Every single day of this month will show the raw Zoe life, light, and power of God!

We decree right now: No problem that came into July with us goes out with us!

Thou pregnant womb of heaven, we open our hands wide and we receive our deliverables! You will not go back with our blessings! You will deliver them all completely, and we are enabled to receive them!

Every power that wants to stop us, we stop you right now by fire! You cannot block our answers, and you cannot delay our testimonies!

It is finished, it is settled, and we have won by the power that is in the blood of Jesus!

In Jesus’ mighty name.

Declare it until your spirit believes it. In Christ, the victory is already yours.

Abiding in the will of God is abiding in the secret place- the safest place. Lord, help me abide in Your perfect will. Let my heart never desire a path separate from Yours. Let my will be surrendered to Yours, now and always. Amen.
