DAY 1: THE EMPTY VESSEL IN YOU: Why Did God Breathe Into Man?

JUICY JULY 2026: ZOE UNLEASHED!

TEXT: GENESIS 2:4–9; GENESIS 3:22–24

BIBLE STUDY: MATTHEW 1

ECHOES OF TRUTH

Welcome to Juicy July 2026, Day 1!

Glory be to God! The Lord has been faithful. It is by His mercy that we have arrived here again. This is our eighth Juicy July, and this year also marks the tenth anniversary of The BUD Family Africa. Looking back over these ten years, we can only say, “Thank You, Lord.” He has preserved us, corrected us, taught us, carried us, and continued to reveal Himself to us. We truly believe that we are in a season of latter glory. We have already seen His hand in many wonderful ways, but I believe with all my heart that He has even greater things prepared for us this month.

Before we go any further, I want you to settle something in your heart. Decide now that you are going to finish this Juicy July. Don’t start and stop halfway. Don’t do it casually. Don’t do it because others are doing it. Stay with God. Fight through the days you feel strong, and also the days you don’t feel like praying. Keep coming. Keep pressing.

Why do we call it Juicy July?

Okay, it is more like a fruit. When you want the juice, you don’t squeeze it once and throw it away. You keep pressing until every drop has come out. When you finish, the fruit is empty because everything inside it has been taken out. That is how I want us to approach this month.

Leave July empty!

Receive every blessing God has prepared for you. Learn every lesson He wants to teach you. Allow Him to remove everything that should not remain in your life. The problems that entered July with you should not leave July with you. By the end of this month, something must be different. Just because you prayed! Just because you gave it your best! You threshed! You juiced!

Now, before we begin today’s study, please worship with today’s song, “Make Me Pray, Lord.” Don’t just listen to it. Pray it. If the Lord does not help us, we cannot pray as we should. We need the Spirit of grace and supplication. We need Him to draw our hearts again and again.

May the Lord answer that prayer in every one of us, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Word Before We Begin

My dear sisters, I know that when many of us think about Juicy July, we think about intense prayers and warfare And yes, by the grace of God, we are going to have all of those. We are going to defeat death and darkness by His life! Halleluyah!

But this year, we are going to do something first.

Before we begin talking about unleashing Zoe, we must first understand what Zoe is.

You cannot manifest what you do not understand. You cannot confidently pray about what is still only a word to you. If Zoe remains something you have only heard in messages or read in books, and it never becomes a revelation in your own heart, then we may pray many prayers without truly entering into what God intends for us.

That is why, over the next few days, we are going to slow down and build the right foundation. We are going to search the Scriptures together. We are going to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us. By the time we begin praying deeply into these truths, we will not be praying from mere head knowledge. We will be praying from understanding, conviction, and revelation.

And when the Word enters your heart, your prayers become different because you are praying what has become yours!

So, I want to encourage you to approach this month as a student of God’s Word.

Bring your Bible.

Bring your journal.

Bring your notebook.

Bring your pens and your highlighters.

Come ready to read, to write, to meditate, to ask questions, and to listen to the Holy Spirit. Don’t rush through these studies. Sit with them. Read the Scriptures again. Think about them. Pray over them. Let the Word sink deep into your heart.

Remember that we are talking about life! The very life of God and His original purpose for you. This is too important to treat casually.

Please, don’t skip any day. If for any reason you miss a day’s study, don’t jump ahead. Go back and continue from where you stopped. These teachings are designed to build on one another, and each day prepares the way for the next.

I am praying that the Lord will give every one of us the grace to stay the course. May He strengthen us, give us understanding, and lead us into all that He has prepared for us this Juicy July In Jesus’ name. Amen.

OPENING PRAYER

Abba Father, I welcome You into this moment. Lord, Here am I, Your vessel, open and waiting before You. I ask that You unleash the power of Your eternal life, Your Zoe, within my spirit today. Let Your word quicken me, let Your presence fill every empty space in me, and let the rivers of Your living water begin to flow out of my depths. Take absolute control of this session, in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.

EXHORTATION: THE EMPTY VESSEL IN YOU: Why Did God Breathe Into Man?

Memory Verse

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” – Genesis 2:7 (KJV)

The Animal Soul vs. The Divine Vessel

Today, I want us to go back to the very beginning. Before we start talking about Zoe, eternal life, or even the new birth, we need to understand God’s original plan for man. If we miss the beginning, many things in the rest of the Bible will not make complete sense.

So let me ask you a simple question: Why did God breathe into man? Have you ever thought about that?

When you read Genesis chapter one, you will discover that the earth was already full of life before man was created. God spoke, and the waters brought forth living creatures. He spoke again, and birds filled the sky. He spoke again, and the earth brought forth cattle, creeping things, beasts of the field, and every kind of animal. Everything was alive.

The lion was alive. The whale was alive. The eagle was alive. The goat was alive. They could move. They could eat. They could reproduce. They could feel. In fact, the Bible describes them as living creatures (Genesis 1:20-25). There was life in them.

Now, this is where I want us to pay attention. When God came to create man, the Bible did not simply say, “God made man.” It says:

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground…”

Just think about that for a moment. The Bible says He formed man. Then it says:

“…and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life…”

Why did God tell us those two things separately? Why didn’t He simply say that He made man?

The Holy Spirit wanted us to notice something. God first formed the man. Then He breathed into him. And you see, that breathing was not an ordinary part of creation. It was a unique act that God performed only for man. He never breathed into the lion. He never breathed into the whale. He never breathed into the eagle. He never breathed into the goat. Only man received that breath.

So the question is not whether the animals had life. They did. The real question is this: What did that breath add to man that no animal ever received? That question is where today’s study begins.

But before we go on, I need you to pay attention to something:

Look at the progression of creation in Genesis:

When God wanted to make trees and vegetation, He spoke to the earth, and the earth brought them forth.

When God wanted to make fish and whales, He spoke to the waters, and the waters brought them forth.

But when it came to the ultimate crowning glory of creation: the vessel meant to hold eternity, God didn’t speak to the elements. God spoke to Himself, drew from His own breath, and brought forth His own kind!

Genesis 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Can you see that, sisters?

That means your origin is God! You are structurally built from the fabric of God’s own life to be a container for Him!

Wheeeew! May the Lord give us understanding in Jesus’ Name.

The Architecture of the Vessel

When God breathed into man, He was doing much more than adding another living creature to the earth. He was preparing a vessel.

Man didn’t start as a piece of clay that suddenly got a spirit and a soul all at once as God breathed into him. Just like the animals were already structurally alive as a soul, he also had the bios life as soon as the Lord formed Him. God formed the man! It wasn’t just that He formed a body. He formed a man. God formed the man, not just an empty, hollow corpse.

So, man’s body and natural soul were already there. But he was on a horizontal level, just like the beasts.

Then came the next level! God breathed into his soul!

That breath was the spark of ignition. The moment the breath of the Creator hit the soul of the man, it ignited his natural soul and upgraded it into a living soul!

That ignition created an immediate, vertical umbilical cord, a spiritual connection, a portal, a deep hollow, linking the Source directly to the man. This is what is known as the spirit.

The real spirit that animals do not have!

…Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes downward to the earth?” – Ecclesiastes 3:19–21

The only thing that you can call the spirit of an animal is its soul!

The animal spirit which I call his soul is entirely tied to its physical, earthly existence. It is the animating life-force that allows them to breathe, feel, and move, but it is bound to the material world. When an animal dies, that life-force ceases, returning to the earth.

Humans, on the other hand, received a unique, divine spark. In Genesis 2:7, God breathes directly into Adam’s nostrils the “breath of life”.

Animals were commanded into existence by God’s word, but humans uniquely carry a specific type of divine breath that gives humans a conscience, spiritual accountability, and an eternal nature made in the image of God. It is the spirit of man.

The spirit of man is literally the connection point born out of that ignition of the breath of God meeting the soul of man!

Job 32:8 confirms this ignition: “But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.”

Do you understand that now?

Good!

Now, look at a goat. Nobody buys clothes for a goat. God placed the clothing inside the goat. Its hair grows naturally. Shave it and it will grow from inside again!

And a chicken? Nobody wakes up every morning to dress a chicken. God put the feathers inside the chicken before it was ever born. Pluck off all the feathers and they will grow again.

Look at a tree. Nobody ties fruit to its branches. The tree produces its fruit from within because that is how God made it.

Everything produces according to the substance it was drawn from.

The fish stays in the water because it came from the water. The tree stays rooted in the earth because it came from the earth. They find their resource, their clothing, and their sustenance from the very element that birthed them.

Creation is full of examples like this. Everything produces according to the life that is already inside it.

The same thing was to apply to man!

Because man was drawn out of God, he wasn’t to find his clothing, his resource, or his satisfaction in the earth.

The goat is satisfied with the grass because it came from the ground. The fish is satisfied with the sea because it came from the water.

But your spirit came out of the Almighty, and that is why nothing less than the fullness of God can ever satisfy you!!

You aren’t supposed to live from the outside in, because you were designed by the Creator to live from the inside out- sustained entirely by the One who birthed you.

Are you getting that?

The Immense Capacity of the Deep Vessel

Now, let me show you something else. The Bible never describes the inside of man as something small or shallow. Whenever God begins to speak about the inward man, He uses the language of depth.

Proverbs 20:5 says:

“Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.”

Deep water. Not shallow water. Deep water. Then Solomon also says in Ecclesiastes 3:11:

“…He hath set eternity in their heart…”

Ayaaaaa. God put eternity inside man. Can you imagine that?

That means there is something inside man that can never be fully satisfied by things that are temporary.

Why is it that people can have money and still feel empty? Why can someone become famous and still feel empty? Why can another achieve everything they dreamed of and yet still feel as though something is missing? The world keeps telling us that the next achievement, the next relationship, the next possession, or the next experience will finally satisfy us.

But it never does. Why? Because the problem is not around us. It is within us.

The connection point is crying out for the Source.

The world is trying to fill an eternal hollow with temporary dirt. It will never fit! Just as Psalm 42:7 screams: “Deep calleth unto deep!” Your deep spiritual vessel will never stop crying until it is filled with the exact Divine Substance that ignited it in the beginning.

Years later, Jesus stood up and made a remarkable statement:

“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” – John 7:38

Notice that Jesus did not say, “Out of his head.” He did not say, “Out of his hands.” He said, “Out of his belly.” Of course, He was not talking about the physical stomach. He was speaking about the inward man. He was pointing us to that deep place within us.

And notice what comes out of that place. Not drops. Not a little stream. Rivers. Rivers flow from depth.

God built something inside man that was much bigger than this present world.

God Wants to Fill Every Vessel He Forms

As I continued studying the Scriptures, I began to notice something about God. It is almost like a law that runs through the entire Bible:

God never creates a vessel without intending to fill it.

He created the heavens, and He filled them with stars. He created the seas, and He filled them with fish. He created the earth, and He filled it with living creatures. He prepared Noah’s ark, and then He filled it.

He commanded Moses to build the Tabernacle, and then He said:

“And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.” – Exodus 25:8

The Tabernacle was never meant to remain empty. Later, Solomon built the Temple. When it was finished, what happened?

“…the glory of the LORD filled the house.” – 2 Chronicles 7:1

God prepared the house because He intended to fill it. Throughout the Scriptures, God keeps doing the same thing. He prepares, then He fills. He builds, then He inhabits.

So let me ask you another question. If God breathed into man and prepared this amazing vessel inside him… do you really think He intended to leave that vessel empty?

Certainly not. God does not create vessels for decoration. He creates vessels for habitation. Please remember that sentence. It is one of the most important truths we will learn throughout this Juicy July:

God never creates a vessel without intending to fill it.

The Guarded Tree and the Unfilled Vessel

Now we come to something that many of us have read for years without asking why. Genesis 2:9 tells us that God planted two special trees in the middle of the Garden. One of them was the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The other was the Tree of Life.

Now, let me ask you a question. Why was the Tree of Life there?

The Bible does not waste words. If God placed that tree in the middle of the Garden, then it was important. If He mentioned it by name, then we should pay attention. That tree tells us something. It tells us that God’s purpose for man was moving somewhere. There was still something ahead. There was still something God intended. The story was not finished. The vessel had been prepared. The tree was standing there. Everything was ready.

But before man reached the Tree of Life… something happened. Another voice entered the Garden. Another tree became attractive. Another choice was made. And everything changed!

Genesis chapter 3 is one of the saddest chapters in the entire Bible. The serpent came with another voice. Instead of trusting God, man listened to another word. Instead of obeying, he chose his own way. Sin entered, and everything changed. Then we read some words that many of us have read before without really thinking about them:

“And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever…” – Genesis 3:22

Notice that word: “lest.” God immediately drove man out of the Garden. Then Genesis 3:24 says:

“So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”

Why? Many people grow up thinking God was simply angry with Adam. Yes, God judged sin. But there is something else happening here that we should not miss.

God guarded the Tree of Life. He did not remove it. He did not destroy it. He guarded it. The way to it was shut. The journey stopped. The vessel remained unfilled.

Think about that, sisters.

God had prepared the vessel. The Tree of Life stood in the Garden. But before man reached it, sin interrupted the journey!

The story of Eden is not just the story of a man who disobeyed God. It is also the story of a purpose that was interrupted before it reached its fullness.

From that day onward, mankind has been searching. Searching for happiness. Searching for peace. Searching for purpose. Searching for satisfaction. People keep trying to fill the vessel with money. Others try pleasure. Others try success. Others try religion. Others try relationships. But the vessel keeps saying, “There is still something missing.”

Why? Because the vessel was never designed to be filled by the world.

What Does This Mean for Us?

As we begin this Juicy July, I don’t want you to see yourself merely as someone trying to become a better Christian. I want you to see yourself the way God sees you.

You are a vessel!

God did not create you by accident. He did not create you just to go to school, get a job, get married, raise children, make money, grow old, and die like all the animals do!

There is something much greater than that. God created you with a capacity for Himself. That is why nothing outside of Him can truly satisfy you!

Perhaps you have been trying to fill your heart with things that can never fill it. Perhaps you have achieved things you once prayed for, only to discover that the emptiness remained.

Today, the Lord is calling us back to His original purpose. Throughout this Juicy July, we are going to walk through the Scriptures together and discover what God had in mind from the very beginning. By the grace of God, we will not just gain knowledge. We will encounter Him.

Prayer

Father, thank You for bringing me into another Juicy July. Thank You for not giving up on Your purpose for my life. Open my eyes to understand Your Word. Let me not just read the Scriptures; let me see Your heart. Throughout this month, empty me of everything that is not of You, and prepare me for all that You have prepared for me. Give me grace to stay with You until the end. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Now, let us take our song for the day prayerfully.

THE EMPTY VESSEL IN YOU Why Did God Breathe Into Man

STIRRING THE WATERS

Dear sister, it is that special moment. Take the next 10 minutes to stir the waters by praying in the Holy Ghost. Gladly embrace this sacred pause. Let the instrumental below play as you lift your voice in prayer. Do not rush. Pray until your spirit is refreshed and your heart is stirred.

This is Father to daughter.
This is Spirit to spirit.
Yield yourself completely to Him.

If you have not yet received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, this is your moment. Cry out to your loving Father with all your heart:

“Father, fill me! Baptize me! Immerse me in Your Spirit! I need You for life. Holy Spirit, come. Baptize me with the Holy Ghost, and Father, please grant me another Pentecost, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

Let’s start stirring.

TAKE CHARGE

Father, in the mighty Name of Jesus, I sanctify my body, my home, and my atmosphere right now. I command the door of my spirit to be wide open only to Heaven. By the blood of Jesus, I enforce the victory of the cross over this space. I declare that the uncreated life of God, His Zoe, is activated inside me right now, and every dead thing in me and my environment must snap back to life! Snap back to life in Jesus’ Name.

Every demonic stronghold, every oppressive weight, and every strange spirit of darkness hovering around my life and atmosphere, and I command you to flee by fire in Jesus’ Name. Flee in the Name of Jesus! My vessel belongs to the Almighty God alone.

I release the rivers of living water from my depths to take over this room, this day, and this month. I take my place of authority as a living tabernacle of the Most High and refuse to be moved! In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!

START PRAYING

Cry out from your heart:

  • Father, thank You because You did not create me as an accident. Before the foundation of the world, You designed me as a vessel for Your own life. Thank You for giving me another opportunity to return to Your original intention for my life.

  • Lord, forgive me for the years I spent trying to feed an eternal hollow with temporary dirt! Forgive me for expecting money, marriage, fame, or certificates to satisfy a depth that was custom-built for Divinity. Today, I pull down every earthly substitute. I empty my vessel of the dust of the ground and I present my connection point to be filled strictly by the Source, in Jesus’ Name!

  • Father, I present myself before You as an empty vessel today. Empty me of everything that is not of You. Empty me of self. Empty me of pride. Empty me of worldly ambitions. Empty me of every hidden idol. I refuse to be full of the world and empty of God, in Jesus’ Name!

  • Father, my spirit was created for Your habitation. I reject every substitute I have used to satisfy the hunger that only You can fill. Occupy every chamber of my spirit until You are perfectly at home in me, in Jesus’ Name!

  • Father, I recognize my structural origin today. The fish came from water and survives in water; the beast came from the earth and survives on the earth. But my spirit was drawn out of You! Therefore, I decree that I refuse to try to survive on the economy, the advice, or the limitations of this earth. I declare my total dependence on the heavenly substance from which I was drawn, in Jesus’ Name!

  • Father, every spiritual blockage, every worldly compromise, and every demonic distraction that has clogged my vertical connection to You, clear out by fire today! I command the umbilical cord of my spirit to be totally unblocked. Let the direct flow of raw revelation, power, and fellowship from the Source to my soul be dynamically restored this hour, in Jesus’ Name!

  • Lord, wherever I have become too full of myself for You to fill me, have mercy on me! Break every confidence in the flesh. Break every dependence on human wisdom. Make me poor in spirit again, in Jesus’ Name!

  • Father, I refuse to live a horizontal life! I refuse to live like the beasts of the field, driven only by my biological survival, my natural anxiety, and my emotional impulses. Let the divine ignition that happened at my new birth completely override my natural soul today! Let my vertical connection to Heaven govern my health, my finances, my mind, and my home from the inside out, in Jesus’ Name!
  • Father, whatever You must remove from me so that You can fill me, remove it! Whatever You must break, break it! Whatever You must expose, expose it! Whatever You must deal with, deal with it! I choose Your dealings over my comfort, in Jesus’ Name!

  • [Hold your belly and pray:] Holy Spirit, breathe upon my inward man afresh! Let every dead place come alive. Let every sleeping affection for God awaken. Let my spirit become vibrant again. I refuse to live by my flesh when I have received the life of God!

  • Father, I reject every life that is merely natural. I refuse to live by my senses alone. Let the life You breathed into me at the new birth begin to govern my thoughts, my words, my decisions, and my entire walk with You, in Jesus’ Name!

  • Father, You have never seen an empty vessel without desiring to fill it. Here I am today. Fill me with Yourself! Fill me with Your Spirit! Fill me with Your Word! Fill me with Your power! Fill me until there is no room left for self, in Jesus’ Name!

  • Every barrier standing between me and a deeper walk with God, give way today! Every distraction, every spiritual dullness, every appetite for vanity, lose your hold over my life now, in the Name of Jesus!

  • [Sisters, pray as though your life depends on it!] Father, let this Juicy July not be another event I attend. Let it become the turning point of my spiritual life. Let me encounter You in ways I have never known. Let me leave this month carrying undeniable evidence that I have been with Jesus.

  • Father, Your word says deep calls unto deep! The deep hollow inside my spirit is crying out for the deep dimension of Your Spirit today. I command every dry well inside my inner man to break open! Let the matching substance of Your presence flood my vessel until I am completely swallowed up in the life of the One who birthed me, in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!
  • Father, I receive grace to remain yielded throughout this month. I will not resist Your dealings. I will not frustrate Your work in me. I receive grace to cooperate with the Holy Spirit until Your life is fully manifested through me, in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!

FATHER’S CORNER

Let the instrumental below play softly while you spend time with your Father. Imagine Him seated right before you. Now, begin to talk to Him as though you can see Him. Heaven is open. Your Father is waiting.

Ask freely. Ask sincerely. Ask for meat, not chaff. Pour out your heart without reservation. This is not a religious exercise; it is a conversation between a Father and His beloved child.

Spend these next 10 minutes unhurried in His presence. If your heart longs to remain longer, please do. Give Him your attention. Listen as much as you speak. Those things in your journal, open them up and cry them out to your Father.

When you are done, round off your time with heartfelt thanksgiving.

PRAYER OF AGREEMENT

Although we are in different homes, cities, and nations, we are gathered before the same Father and joined together by one Spirit. This is one of the moments we stand together as one family before the Lord.

As you listen to the prayer, please do not remain silent or just say ‘Amen’. Follow the prayer carefully, open your mouth, and pray along. Repeat each declaration with faith and from the depths of your heart. Do not just listen or repeat the words as a routine. Let every prayer become your own sincere cry to God.

Remember, this prayer covers every one of us. As you wholeheartedly stand in agreement for your sisters, they are also standing in agreement for you. “Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them” (Matthew 7:12). Therefore, pray earnestly, believe confidently, and expect the Lord to answer.

Now, let us lift up our voices together in faith.
