THE BUD FAMILY AFRICA
FASTING AND PRAYER BULLETIN FOR JANUARY 2026
THEME: OH FOR AN INSATIABLE HUNGER, LORD!
TEXT: PSALM 42:1–2; JEREMIAH 18:1–6
BIBLE READING: JOHN CHAPTER 4
Welcome to the last Friday in the month of January, our first flaming Friday of the year. Take some time, first, to bless the Lord for His goodness and intentionality. Thank Him for seeing you, for knowing you, for loving you, for caring about you, for all that He is to you.
We never can come to the full understanding of why God cares about us so much nor can we come to the depth of His glory that He is willing to release upon our lives. He does this just to reflect His great love and the abundance of His grace.
I pray as we seek God today, our hearts will be set in order, our lives will be set on course to seeking Him earnestly and passionately, this year and all the days of our lives in Jesus name.
Hopefully today is not the first flaming day this year for you especially after such a wonderful close of the year 2025 with the Activate Program.
If not, this is the day to ignite the fire again, to be awakened because this year we seek the Lord deeper and how we start now will determine the pace we will go as the year progresses.
Isaiah 55.6 says ‘Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him NOW while he is near’ (NLT).
There’s no other time to be intentional and crazy about seeking God than NOW and I pray you will find him as you seek Him in Jesus name, Amen!
Our theme for today is OH FOR AN INSATIABLE HUNGER, LORD! and our texts are from the book of Psalms 42:1-2 and Jeremiah 18:1-6.
Psalm.42.1 -2: As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
Jeremiah 18:1-6: The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.”
Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!
Let us take this song powerfully over and over again till we feel the fire break out from within in.
‘GIVE ME HUNGER, LORD’ BY DYNAMITE FILMS AFRICA
[Instrumentals]
[Chorus]
Oh for hunger, Lord…
Oh for hunger…
May all other appetite fade away
Oh for hunger, Lord
Oh for hunger
Till You are all I crave
[Verse 1]
I don’t want to be full and empty
Satisfied with things that fade
If I lose my hunger for You
I’ve lost my way
I don’t want comfort that lacks presence
I don’t want peace with no truth
If You are not what fills me
I am not filled
[Chorus]
Oh for hunger, Lord…
Oh for hunger…
May all other appetite fade away
Oh for hunger, Lord
Oh for hunger
Till You are all I crave
[Verse 2]
As the deer pants for the waters
As roots stretch deep for life
Let my soul reach until it finds You
No matter the cost, no matter the time
Mary stood when hope was buried
Love kept her at the grave
Give me hunger that outlives silence
Hunger that stays
[Chorus]
Oh for hunger, Lord
Oh for hunger
May all other appetite fade away
Oh for hunger, Lord
Oh for hunger
Till You alone are all I crave
[Bridge]
Empty me of lesser desires
Strip me of false satisfaction
I know You must break me, break me
But don’t leave me without hunger
I know You must break me, break me
But don’t leave me without hunger
[Chorus – softer, soaking]
Oh for hunger, Lord
Oh for hunger
May all other appetite fade away
Oh for hunger, Lord
Oh for hunger
Till You alone are all I crave
[Outro – chant loop]
Oh for hunger…
Oh for hunger…
Till my soul cannot live without You…
Oh for hunger…
Oh for hunger…
Till You alone are all I crave…
Introduction
A hart is a male deer, especially the male of the red deer after his fifth year. Before the age of 5, the deer can’t be addressed as hart, and significantly, the rate of its thirst is not particularly worth much attention. But as soon as it clocks 5 years, oh… it is as if it has been made, transformed and the thirst becomes intense. It begins to long eagerly for water as if its entire life depends on it such that it begins to have laboured breathing and the only remedy is to have a long and satisfying drink of water.
David used the hart to paint an imagery of how much he had grown to desire the Lord. This means there’s a deep longing, and an unquenchable thirst in his heart. This kind of growth is the kind that comes with spiritual maturity.
A disciple growing into maturity, has proof revealed in such thirst and longing to be with and become all that God wants her to be. It is the kind that isn’t forced, isn’t coarse or waiting for motivation to become all that God has in mind for her.
Like David, it comes with coming to the understanding of the need for God that is rooted in knowing that there is no you without Him, no survival without Him. To not pant like the hart is an indication of stunted spiritual growth or no growth at all.
One main problem is that we often devised the means of living outside God, a surviving system apart from Him and that’s why life is hard and miserable. The truth however is that we are either in a hurry to figure life out by ourselves because God’s timing seems slow or we are foolish enough to think we are wise to lead our lives. Neither of these speaks good for us because we end up at the receiving end of great loss.
When we allow ourselves to be made, hunger for God comes mor easily, thirsting for Him comes naturally because His hands are upon us molding us. That is what translates us into spiritual growth unto maturity.
We must learn from Jesus
Jesus did not skip the God-ordained process to arrive at the place of greatness, the right hand side of God’s throne (Philippians 2: 5-10). Jesus followed the process of birth to having earthly parents He had to honour, having siblings to grow up with, becoming a carpenter, and other necessities humans go through up until His ministry started at 30.
For three and half years, Jesus followed the process of grooming twelve men to whom He handed over the Good News of God’s redemptive power after which, He took the name exalted above every other name. Jesus followed the due process. God had Jesus in His hands to mold as clay is in a potter’s hands. The starting point is humility. The end result is glorification in Christ! Yielding to the process God intends to take you and I through for His glory is deeply ingrained in humility.
Why is following the process key?
We read in Jeremiah 1:4-6 (CSB): ‘The word of the LORD came to me: I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations’.
The Lord has a picture of what you are needed for in His agenda while He formed you, and He formed me. Any interruptions in the process is an outright journey down deformity. He said in the text above that ‘He formed’, which gives us a mental imagery of a Potter molding a clay.
The Potter works on a clay on His wheel and from the onset, He knows just what He needs to form so He sits at it, molding, and shaping, pressing and touching with His fingers, palms, spinning the wheel. With these step by step procedures, imagine the end result as a vase.
But what if the clay has chosen to be stiff and unyielding, surely there’ll be no vase. There has to be a choice to be formed. After that there will be a forming process to be appointed to nations.
More explicitly we see God describing the process of forming in Jeremiah 18.
Jeremiah 18:1-6 (GNT): The Lord said to me, “Go down to the potter’s house, where I will give you my message.” So I went there and saw the potter working at his wheel. Whenever a piece of pottery turned out imperfect, he would take the clay and make it into something else.
Then the Lord said to me, “Don’t I have the right to do with you people of Israel what the potter did with the clay? You are in my hands just like clay in the potter’s hands.
The Potter of Your Life is at the Wheel
If we take time to patiently look inward and assess our lives, we will notice the Lord taking us through a process. It is like moving from playgroup to pre-nursery, from nursery to kindergarten, on to primary, secondary, on and on. But as humans will always be, sometimes we try to omit pre-nursery and opt for nursery, omit nursery and opt for primary. We act like the clay molds itself but no, it doesn’t.
There is a Potter at the wheel and He is asking the clay.
Isaiah 45:9 says: What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’
Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’
When we try various means to be in control of our lives and determine through actions and inactions what becomes of us, we are simply arguing with the Potter and jumping the process. We are doing what should never be done- as clay, we are questioning the Potter who is at the wheel and simply asking Him if He knows what He is doing in the first place!
The above verse is clear for it says there is surely sorrow awaiting those who skip the process. They end up deformed! Sometimes the end result is as drastic as what is described in Jeremiah 19:10
Then you are to shatter the jar in the presence of the men who accompany you, and you are to proclaim to them that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I will shatter this nation and this city, like one shatters a potter’s jar that can never again be repaired.
Any clay that cannot be formed right by submitting itself to go through the right process or keeps interfering with the process of forming and ends up deformed may experience eventual shattering without room for repair.

You are still Imperfect
Our imperfections are as loud as they can ever be. That is why the Potter is still seated at His wheel. As He forms us and we find ourselves going through the various contouring under the Potter’s hands, He will not lift us off the wheel for the other parts of drying and firing to become usable.
We need to understand that what the Potter is doing to us under His firm yet gentle hands, are all within His loving interest to bring the best of our potential out. However, because of the possibilities of some special features He has granted us, we become so eager to have Him release us to the nations.
Sometimes we grumble and complain when it looks ugly or there is a disturbance in the plans we have set up for ourselves. We perhaps don’t have the understanding that He will not allow more than we can bear. If the Potter sets a weight on us or leaves us on a spot for a while seeming like we have been forgotten there, to us, it feels unbearable and we want out.
In instances like this remembering God’s promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 goes a long way to keep us staying put. It says: No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
Some other times, the imperfections we experience are simply stepping stones to usher us into new realities of our potentials in the Potter’s hands. If the Potter does not attempt to mold us in specific ways we would never know that a clay as we, could ever attain some realms of possibilities.
In 1 Corinthians 2:9-10, Paul says that: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. Allow your imperfections for His glory.
Jeremiah in chapter 1 verse 6 knew His imperfections yet the Potter highlights in the following verses that Jeremiah’s imperfections will be made perfect by His power.
You are clay to be molded into a vessel
We see in 1 Timothy 2: 20 what God makes of vessels: A large house contains not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use. The Potter on His wheel makes vessels from the clay in His hands. However, not all these vessels are of the same value and use.
The above text highlights vessels made of gold, some silver, some wood and others clay. Still these four categories are either for honourable and befitting use or for dishonourable and common use.
We can understand further based on the context at hand that whatever a clay does when it is in the hands of the Potter determines the end result of his making. The submission to the process of making determines if it will be a vessel for honourable use or common use.
What the clay, vessel-in-making, allows the Potter to do with it will earmark it for either honourable or dishonourable use in the Lord’s vineyard. When we allow the Lord to make all things beautiful in His time (Ecc. 3:11) concerning us, we end up becoming vessels unto honour because we did not skip the process of becoming.
Does God have the right to take you through the process of making?
The good news is that the Potter is still at His wheel. He is still able to take the clay and make it into something else that fulfills His divine agenda. God still has the clay in His hands and He is still willing to turn the imperfect mold into something honourable and worthy of use.
But can He?
Or do you have your life mapped out for you?
Will you let Him or do you have your plans that you want no interferences?
Remember that it is He who has the wheel and He determines where and how it spins. A clay has no right over how it is used but oftentimes we try to exercise it in the hopes of having our way. Of the truth, God will not interfere in our choices and what we do with our lives.
However, where is the safest place to be than in God’s hands? Who knows us better than we know ourselves? Whatever we try to become outside of God will only be a shadow of who God had in mind when He chose, formed, and appointed us.
We will end up malformed and remain imperfect all our lives if we skip the process of God taking us through experiences, circumstances, and everything that ought to make us strong in Him.
Not submitting totally to the movement of His hands and the wheel only brings us to the state of abandonment as many other vessels are in His vineyard.
Are You Hungry to be Made?
Let’s take this song of reflection in humility:
WHERE DID MY HUNGER GO by Theophilus Sunday
Where did my hunger go
What happened to my thirst
Though I still speak in tongues
And minister before men
Lord yet my secret place is
Weary and dry
If you still hear me
Heal me right here
chorus
Savior, Savior, Savior
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Savior, Savior, Savior
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
verse 2
Where did my hunger go
What happened to my thirst
Though I still speak in tongues
And minister before men
Lord yet my secret place is
Weary and dry
If you still hear me oh
Help me, oh God!
chorus
Savior, Savior, Savior
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Savior, Savior, Savior
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
Can you take this quick moment to cry to God for healing? That God will heal you of prayerlessness, of apathy towards the things of God, laziness, procrastination, lack of discipline, and complacency. Ask for grace to over-power your self-will and yield to God wholeheartedly. In Jesus name, Amen!
How do you regain your hunger?
The Potter wants to have all of you. He wants to be the first Priority in your life, doesn’t want anything contending with your attention for Him. He wants you to be still on the wheel till He forms you completely.
But are you hungry for it?
Are you ready to always be a willing clay?
Jesus said to His disciples in Matt.16.24 If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also]. (AMP)
Will you be a whole hearted disciple this year?
Will you faithfully follow unhindered as you walk with Him?
Then be ready to deny yourself, that part of you that pursues what makes you and not God making you, that part that resists the Hand of God and submits to other hands for shaping.
Be ready to lose sight of yourself and your own interest. His interest will now be your interest. You seek your own interest when you silence the Holy Spirit with disobedience because you want to gain people’s approval or satisfy your earthly, temporal, and selfish ambitions.
You don’t want to be seen as a bad person, hence you say yes to everything. You accept every invitation even when it’s draining you, you jump at every training even without seeking God’s will about it. You welcome every idea even when you know it will put a strain on you, especially in your walk with God.
It is not about shutting life or others out but doing life with God being first and leading the way then any other thing or person can follow. We are in a world where many things are contending for our attention, these things sometimes are actually legit but when they contend with giving God our utmost heart and will, there’s no legitimacy with them.
When we put the Potter first, all these things will eventually be added. The goal this year should be to be made into who God wants us to become, a disciple that is of honourable use in His hands as clay.
Shall We Pray
As we begin to pray take a moment to first pray in the Holy Ghost asking that He takes charge and pray through you today. Ask that the spirit of prayer rest upon you a fresh today.
And if you’re yet to be baptized in the Holy Ghost, yearn and thirst for it today. Remember the promise of the father in Luke.11.13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (KJV). This is an assurance that God will give you the Holy Spirit today if you ask.
- Go ahead and begin to worship God. Worship Him for the privilege of sonship. 1 Cor 6:20 says you are bought with a high price. Can you thank God for that? Thank Him for redeeming you from destruction.
- Humble yourself before the Lord and acknowledge His greatness and His goodness.
- Thank Him for the daily benefits you receive with your loved ones from Him.
- Thank the Potter for the time He has been taking to mold and shape your life. Appreciate Him because He knows you and has your best interest at heart.
- Appreciate God over every sister in the BUD Africa family, for every family represented here, for His love and mercy.
- Thank Him for planting you in this family, it’s a privilege we will forever cherish. Thank Him for not giving up on you.
- Thank Him for always drawing you to Himself. Thank Him for the truth He’s exposing you to here and because He will give you grace to embrace the truth wholeheartedly in every area of your life.
- Thank God over every program of this family, for how He has been breathing upon these programs.
- Thank Him for the lives He’s been building through these programs and those He will still build. Thank Him for the programs we are planning to start because He will use these programs and platforms to wreck the kingdom of darkness.
- Thank God over Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso. Thank God because God is the reigning King over these nations and darkness will not prevail over these lands. Thank Him because He’s building His church and the gate of hell will never prevail against it.
- Now humble yourself before God and ask for His mercy in any way you’ve come short of His glory. Every area you’ve not met His expectation over your life, ask Him to show you mercy.
- Ask that His blood will purge you and make you whole.
- Ask that His blood will wash you thoroughly. At this moment, identify every thing that has taken His place in your life, renounce them today and ask for grace not to set them above God again.
- Father forgive me for the times I have skipped the process of my making. Lord forgive me for the times I have been wise in my own eyes and I have taken decisions for myself as against Your mind towards me.
- Father, please forgive me for the times I have undone the work You have done in me, scatter the plans You have laid out for my life, and consider my own way the better way.
- Lord Jesus, I am sorry for the times my actions and inactions have kept Your hands away from the process of my making. Forgive me Lord for every attempt I have made in foolishness to outsmart the process You are leading me through life.
- Father, this is me before You today, in humility, please start afresh with me. Grant me a new slate on Your wheel. I no longer want to skip the process. I want Your will, Your way for it is the best for me.

NOW, PRAY
- It doesn’t matter what material You use in molding me. All that matters is that I be of honourable use in Your hands. Father, please mold me for honourable use in Jesus name.
- I am here before You, my Potter. I confess I am but clay in Your hands. Please do with my life what is best for me unto Your glory in Jesus name.
- I submit my plans before You, my wisdom I lay at Your feet. Father, please bring me to trust You more with my life and future, more than I have ever done in Jesus name.
- Father, let me be fully attached to Your wheel, never to slide off and pursue my own way and will in Jesus name.
- Lord, please mold me into the exact vessel You have in mind for my life.
- Jesus, please let Your mercy work upon my deformities that I may live out the thoughts and plans You have for me.
- I come boldly before You this day Father, please break me and mold me into who You have in me. Break me, mold me, then use me in Jesus name.
- The world is waiting earnestly for the manifestation of the sons of God. Lord, I don’t want to skip the process. Bring me to the place of manifestation in Your own timing in Jesus name.
- Father, may I find my rest in You. My peace and Joy, let it always be found in You that I may dwell in You all the days of my life in Jesus name.
- Pray that the fire of God rests upon you, that the fire of God burns away anything that’s contrary to the love of God in your heart.
