GOT ANY RIVERS? By By Bro Rodrigue Banze
Be of good courage, God spake unto Joshua,
When over the river God pointed the way;
Jordan uncrossable!
Things seemed impossible,
Waters divide as they march and obey.
CHORUS
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible,
And He will do what no other power can do.
Battles to win! They would meet with their obstacles,
Jericho’s walls, too, must fall to the ground.
God never failed; He stood back of His promises,
Walls had to crumble as they marched around.
CHORUS
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible,
And He will do what no other power can do.
God is the same and His Word is dependable,
He’ll make a way through the waters for you;
Life’s situations by Him are amendable.
Mountains and hills He will part for you too.
CHORUS
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can’t tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible,
And He will do what no other power can do.
INTRODUCTION
Today, we are looking at a Bible situation that ended with ‘Shall this thing really be?’. As you will see, we are going contrary to that statement to declare that ‘This thing shall indeed be!’ Amen?
Let us read our text very patiently together:
2Kings 6:25-30
And there was a great famine in Samaria, as they besieged it, until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.
So, there was a very terrible situation in the land of Samaria. There was famine. There were no seeds to plant. No cows to eat. No soups. No bread. No rain. Nothing!
The enemies had come against Samaria and Samaria was in trouble! They had built a siege around it, so help could not enter into that land even if they had sought for any from their neighbors.
They were operating under closed heavens!
Have you ever been in that situation? Or are you in the midst of such a situation at the moment?
Where helps cannot come in. No matter where you try to reach, nothing, no aid is coming in. And you feel so surrounded. You feel you are under a watch being monitored?
That was the situation that Samaria had found herself. So, donkeys that were normally their modes of transport were the ones they were eating. In fact, the head was so terribly expensive.
Those who couldn’t afford that were paying for the dung of a dove! Ahhhh! The poo of a dove became a luxury that they were queuing up to buy! God have mercy.
26 Now as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”
27 And he said, “If the Lord will not help you, how shall I help you? From the threshing floor, or from the wine press?”
The king was helpless. Just a simple request from one of his subjects and he started to say plenty of things. You see, when we are poor and helpless, we talk too much to at least cover up for our lacks.
Just a simple call or message from someone who needs help and we would just be explaining a lot. Explanations which wouldn’t have been necessary if we had had something good in our bank accounts.
‘You see, even my family has not been able to buy this for the last ten months. My salary has been trickling in because….I would honestly have loved to help but you know that this…’
Have you experienced that before?
Oh may the Lord change my story for the good in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ!
So, the king automatically assumed the woman was asking for food, whereas, that was not really the woman’s issue. The woman just had a terrible, betrayal issue. Let’s see:
28 And the king asked her, “What is your trouble?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’
29 So we boiled my son and ate him. And on the next day I said to her, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him.’ But she has hidden her son.”
Ehhhhhh! It was no longer an ass’ head or dove’s dung? They had turned to human eaters!!
What a terrible situation!
30 When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes—now he was passing by on the wall—and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth beneath on his body—
What are you wearing right now, sis? Sackclothes? Have you prayed and fasted and waited and hoped and now, your body is so lean? You wear a frown all day long. Sighs are your songs. You dread phone calls because it could be from those who you have borrowed from? What clothes have the evil machinations of the enemy worn on you?
2Kings 7:1-20
Verse 1: “But Elisha said, ‘Hear the word of the Lord: Thus says the Lord, Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.’”
In other words, the famine will be over, and food will once again be plentiful – so much so that we’re not talking about a gradual reduction in prices. The very next day grain and flour would be sold at completely normal prices. That would require a miracle, given the desperate situation at hand. But that’s exactly what is being promised. Elisha, the prophet of God, has declared “Thus says the Lord…”
This declaration was a direct contradiction to the current reality. The people were experiencing extreme famine, yet Elisha boldly proclaimed a sudden and drastic change by the next day.
I mean, dear sisters, he was talking about TOMORROW!
In such a very difficult season, even if Elisha had heard the Lord clearly, shouldn’t he have been at least shy to make such a huge claim that looked so likely to fail? Well, Elisha knew the Lord God Almighty to even doubt Him! He made the huge proclamation and watched for anyone who would dare doubt that verbally. Alas, one man fell into that trap!
Verse 2: “Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, ‘If the Lord himself should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?’ But he said, ‘You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.’”
Ahhhhh! The man had the right to even bring the Lord God Almighty into the whole issue? Instead of him to have kept quiet or instead of him to challenge the person of Elisha, he dared to challenge the Person and Power of the Lord God Almighty! And look what he reaped. Oh my!
He could not believe that such a miracle was possible. His skepticism was rooted in the impossibility of the situation from the perspective of we limited beings. Oh, how terrible it is to limit the Lord God Almighty!
Could this thing be? Even if the LORD opened the windows of Heaven? Oh, c’mon!
The Great God?
Is anything too difficult for the Lord?
Who by His understanding made the heavens;
(His love endures forever!)
Who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, and brought Israel out from among them;
(His love endures forever!)
Who divided the Red Sea asunder;
(His love endures forever!)
Who struck down great kings;
(His love endures forever!)
Who gave the land as an inheritance to His servant Israel
(His love endures forever!)
Well, for us, we declare that it shall be! Amen?
The Lord our God will open the windows of Heaven over our situation today and it shall be to us according to His Word! There will be great abundance and overflowing supply!
SHOUT:
This thing shall be! The steel heaven over me shall be blown open and it shall rain upon me divine supplies that I would never have imagined possible in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
So, the captan fell into the fury of Elisha and earned a curse.
SHOUT:
Dear Lord, every curse or evil that unbelief and doubts have brought upon me, oh Lord my God, rescue me from them all by Your infinite mercies in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Bless me indeed oh Lord and rescue me from all curse.
The captain’s doubt would not nullify God’s promise, but it would cost him the opportunity to benefit from it. Doubt can rob us of experiencing God’s promises. We must trust God even when circumstances seem impossible.
SAY VEHEMENTLY:
Oh Lord, I trust You! Concerning this situation (mention it), I trust You. Oh Lord, I believe, please help my unbelief in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
2 Kings 7:3-5
Verse 3: “Now there were four men who were lepers at the entrance to the gate. And they said to one another, ‘Why are we sitting here until we die?’”
Verse 4: “If we say, ‘Let us enter the city,’ the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. So now come, let us go over to the camp of the Syrians. If they spare our lives we shall live, and if they kill us we shall but die.’”
Verse 5: “So they arose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians. But when they came to the edge of the camp of the Syrians, behold, there was no one there.”
Verse 6: “For the Lord had made the army of the Syrians hear the sound of chariots and of horses, the sound of a great army, so that they said to one another, ‘Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Egypt to come against us.’”
Most of the remainder of 2 Kings 7 describes how God kept his word and came to Israel’s
rescue once more. In verse 3-4, the four lepers came to their senses and decided that going over to the enemy camp would be their best chance for survival.
Today we go into the camp of the enemies to recover it all! We arise and carry the battle to the gate of Hell and get back all that the enemies have stolen from us in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
When they did, however, they found the enemy camp deserted. Th enemies had fled in fear of what they believed was a surprise attack by the Egyptians but instead, it was only the lepers!
Oh may the Lord arise on our behalves and turn us into fearsome beings that the devil and his agents can not withstand or stand against in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
God often accomplishes the impossible with the most improbable characters. The lepers who were so hungry and dying were walking with their eaten off feet but just those little impactless strides became a huge now in the camp of the enemy! Oh hallelujah!
PRAY VEHEMENTLY
Father, from this day on, please everything I do have a seriously terrible impact on the enemies of my soul to the end that they might leave me alone to the Glory of Your Name in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
God intervened supernaturally by causing the Syrians to hear what seemed like a vast army approaching. This divine intervention led to their panic and flight. God can use the most unexpected means to deliver us from our troubles. His ways are higher than our ways, and His plans are beyond our comprehension.
CRY AGAIN:
Father, I trust You! I believe You have a plan, a plan that I cannot even see or think about, to deliver me from this situation (mention it). Oh, Lord, come through and do Your thing in Your mercies.
Verse 7: “So they fled away in the twilight and abandoned their tents, their horses, and their donkeys, leaving the camp as it was, and fled for their lives.”
PRAY:
Oh Dear Lord, cause the enemies of my life to be on the run from this day forward- a run that they will never recover from until they repent. When they see me, let them flee. When they hear my name, let them flee! When they think of me, let them flee! Enemies of my soul, flee from me in seven ways in the Name of Jesus Christ.
The enemies fled, abandoning everything. Can you see the sudden reversal, sis? This shows how God can turn the tide in our favor swiftly and intentionally. What the enemy leaves behind in fear can become the provision for God’s people. We must remember that God’s timing is perfect, and His deliverance can come in ways we cannot anticipate.
Verse 8: “And when these lepers came to the edge of the camp, they went into a tent and ate and drank, and they carried off silver and gold and clothing and went and hid them. Then they came back and entered another tent and carried off things from it and went and hid them.
The lepers feasted and plundered the camp of the syrians, but it wasn’t long before
they felt convicted and said, “We aren’t doing right. This is a day of good news.” So they
repented and then resolved to share the gospel (good news) with everyone else by going to
tell the king.
Dear sisters, when the Lord lifts you from this position where you are now, make sure you do not forget others. The blessings that God gives His people are for His people, not just the individual. The Lord has made you the custodian of the blessings but that doesn’t mean you should hoard them and start accumulating wealth and buy unnecessary things- raise the destitutes!
God has saved you, extend the salvation to others!
God has healed your marriage, extend the healing to others!
God has opened the doors for you, open the doors for others!
However, when the lepers told the king, the apostate king still would not believe! He never knew the Lord for Himself, so it was not surprising. He was the one who led Israel into the sins that had now shut the windows of Heaven upon them!
He thought it was a trap. But.thankfully, his servants had the good sense to at least consider whether the good news of the lepers might also be good news for them too. So the king consented to sending out a search party who eventually confirmed the Gospel of the Lepers. By the next morning, the whole city had gone out to feast and gather the spoils of yet another victory that had been won by the Lord.
So, can you see that the Lord can be trusted?
His Word came to pass!
The captain, who had expressed doubt about Elisha’s prophecy, was appointed to manage the gate where the abundance was to be distributed. However, in the rush and excitement of the people, he was trampled to death!
Ah! Elisha’s curse caught up with him for looking down on the Lord! He saw the blessing indeed but he could not partake of it. Ahhhhh
SHOUT THIS
(Glory arrives, life is lost will not be my portion in the Name of Jesus! I am the one who will reap all the blessings that the Lord has provided for me. When my rightful, promised blessings come, I will not be replaced in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.)
This tragic end tells us of the consequences of doubt and disbelief in God’s promises. When God declares something, it is crucial to respond with faith rather than skepticism. Doubt not only robs us of peace but can also result in missing out on God’s blessings entirely. Believing in God’s word requires us to trust Him fully, even when circumstances seem impossible.
The fulfillment of the prophecy was exact and complete. The doubting captain witnessed the abundance but could not enjoy it because of his unbelief, resulting in his death.
Are you in such a dire situation that you doubt everything, everyone, yourself and now even God? Hey, stop it, sis and start to repent! God hates doubts so dearly! Oh, He does!
Israelites in the Wilderness despite witnessing many miracles doubted God’s provision and this elongated their journey in life. They became wanderers and majority of them perished in the wilderness!
What of Zechariah, the priest? He doubted the angel’s message about John the Baptist’s birth and was struck mute until the prophecy was fulfilled (Luke 1:18-20).
What about Thomas? He doubted Jesus’ resurrection until he saw Him, earning the nickname “Doubting Thomas” (John 20:24-29).
GOD IS FAITHFUL!
Dear sisters, God’s faithfulness is unwavering. He keeps His promises and fulfills His word. His faithfulness is not dependent on our circumstances or our faith but on His unchanging nature.
Lamentations 3:22-23 says: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
1 Corinthians 1:9 also says: “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
And in Deuteronomy 7:9, it says: “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.”
No matter the situation, our Faithful God in whom there is NO LIE and in whom there are NO IMPOSSIBILITIES Can Turn It Around!
Whether you are facing financial difficulties, marital problems, delays, health issues, relationship problems, or career challenges, God is able to intervene and change your situation!
Despite losing everything, Job remained faithful to the Lord, and God restored his fortunes (Job 42:10).
Hannah was barren and ridiculed, but she remained committed to her God! God answered her prayers and gave her Samuel (1 Samuel 1).
Thrown into the lions’ den, Daniel trusted God, and he was miraculously saved! (Daniel 6).
Peter walked on water, but when he doubted, he began to sink. When he cried out, Jesus saved him! Do you know what that tells us? It is faith that keeps us afloat! (Matthew 14:28-31).

When God speaks, His word does not return void. We must believe that what He has promised will come to pass. Isaiah 55:11 says: “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”
Tell me, sis. Is our God a liar? No way! As He has said, so shall it be in Jesus Name. Amen.
Let us take this song very assuredly before we pray:
WHAT A FAITHFUL GOD HAVE I! By Heavenly Worship
Lord, i come before Your throne of grace
I find rest in Your presence,
And fullness of Joy
In worship and wonder
I behold Your face
Singing what a faithful God have I
What a faithful God have I
What a faithful God
What a faithful God have I
Faithful in every way
Lord of mercy, You have heard my cry
Through the storm Youre the beacon
My song in the night
In the shelter of Your wings
Hear my hearts reply
Singing what a faithful God have I
What a faithful God have I
What a faithful God
What a faithful God have I
Faithful in every way
Lord all sovereign
Granting peace from heaven
Let me comfort those who suffer
With the comfort You have given
I will tell of Your great love
For as long as i live
Singing what a faithful God have I

- • I want the BUD family to join me in prayers that God should restore a new kidney to the husband of the woman that sells in my school as they have been in the hospital for days now and trusting in God’s healing.(I got the news of the health issue today, which prompt me in dropping my request) • I’ve been suffering from skin disease for some years, as I’m told that it’s in the blood and my blood needs to be flushed.I decided not to treat it again because it was not the final solution as it keeps reappearing. Now it has become more obvious and spreading so fast, I decided not to see the doctor on any treatment for some reasons which one of it is because I do not want any medication to hinder my fasting this month. I want the BUD family to raise join me in prayers that God should flush my system for me, and deliver me from skin disease. • We’ve been praying so hard and believing God for deliverance on my brother’s health. It’s counting months, weeks, days and years that we’ve been believing and still trusting. In this juicy July, I want the BUD family to join us in prayers that this time around Diabetes type 1 in his life should be a things of the past and give uhimthe total victory. God should fill our heart and mouth with Joy and testimony on this request of ours.
NOW TO OUR PRAYER JOURNALS
Let us raise our prayer list to the Lord and tell Him all about our requests. Let us ask the Father in the Name of Jesus to turn those requests into testimonies for us according to His Will in Jesus’ Name. Let us pray fervently on them before we move on.
SING
Be greatly blessed by this song as we round off:
TRUST HIS HEART by Babbie Mason
All things work for our good
Though sometimes we can’t
See how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what’s best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim
And you just can’t see Him
Remember you’re never alone
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His Heart
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His Heart
He sees the master plan
He holds the future in His hand
So don’t live as those who have no hope
All our hope is found in Him
We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and last
And like a tapestry He’s weaving you and me
To someday be just like Him
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His Heart
He alone is faithful and true
He alone knows what is best for you
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His Heart
