TOPIC: BATTLING THE SPIRIT OF DEATH

BIBLE STUDY: GALATIANS 5
A pastor shared a story in church one day, of one of his church members who brought her daughter who was soon to be married to him for counsels and blessings. As soon as the lady came, what he saw on her was death. He told the woman that her daughter was already dead. Her lot had been finished. The woman couldn’t believe it. So, the pastor touched the lady so that the woman could see what had become of the beautiful ‘bride-to-be’. As she fell to the ground, she was still, lifeless, her eyes all white- dead. The woman was shocked. The plan the Devil had according to the man of God was to strike her dead on her wedding day. Oh, may the Devil be put to shame over our lives in the Name of Jesus.
SAY THESE:
Oh, every attack waiting for a special time to manifest in my life, perish now by the Power in the Blood of Jesus.
Evil powers trying to turn my good days to mournful days, I defeat you with the Blood of Jesus now in Jesus Name. Your plans will come to nought in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
I also heard of another very intelligent, first-class student from one of the reputable universities in Nigeria who went for the NYSC Compulsory service. When he was coming back after the whole experience, there was a little accident and everybody in the crash came out well, except him! He was the only one who died on the whole bus. When his roommates would testify, they said he had told them for so many days of his experiences with coffins in his dreams. Oh, the spirit of death had been hovering over this man but there was absolutely no one to pull him together and fight for his life.
May the secret plans of the enemies over your life be exposed. May He never be able to bring you into a prayerless, clueless state where you would become an easy prey for him in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
WHAT IS THE SPIRIT OF DEATH?
It is an evil spiritual force that seeks to bring terminal sickness, premature death, or tormenting fear of death upon a life. This spirit often works alongside the spirit of infirmity to increase affliction in a person’s life.
There is a difference between the operation of the spirit of death and God’s appointed time to die. Genesis 15:15 says: “Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age.”
1 Chronicle 29:28 says “So he (David) died in a good old age, full of days and riches and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.”
Job 5:26 says: You shall come to the grave at a full age, as a sheaf of grain ripens in its season
These verses show the plan of God for you, (of course the plan came after the fall of man. It was never the original idea for anyone to die) and any deviation from that is not from God.
Now, why should God say we will go to the grave in a good old age and the devil would want to thwart it and we will just take it like that? That’s an error. How dare the Devil! See, sisters, it is the will of God that we live to a ripe old age; and when we fulfill His Will here on earth, He takes our breath away. It shouldn’t be a death of pain and suffering rather a passing on from this earth to our eternal home. Therefore, the spirit of death that I am referring to here is premature death, sudden shutdown of a person’s life, or when the life of someone is being stolen before the actual time originally marked by God.
This kind of death is usually a tragic one, ranging from incidents of fatal accidents, suffering through sicknesses such as cancer, terminal illness, excruciating painful experience, contraction of diseases, suicide, a murder which includes; abortion, miscarriage, accidental discharge, etc.
THE MAIN JOB OF THE SPIRIT OF DEATH
John 10:10 says that the Devil has come to kill! That is his preoccupation! Whenever you see death, premature deaths, sicknesses, infirmities, don’t be tempted to believe that God is in that creation. The Lord’s own preoccupation is to make us live. Life is of our God, death is of the Devil. Stop saying ‘The Lord gives and takes’. If in your dream, you keep seeing these death dreams and all, don’t think you are being harassed nor should you think God’s is just given you an information of what wants to happen. You are being shown because the Lord needs you to arise to pray. ‘Oh, why can’t God stop that tragedy Himself without showing man first?’, you may ask. Well, because the spiritual world is legalistic- even God wouldn’t break that law. For instance, your father chose the way of the Devil, the Lord has been pushed to the corner then. Now, the Devil needs to slaughter him but God knows His own daughter, you, would be inconsolable. So, He comes to show you, why? So that you can give Him the authority to step in since your father hasn’t!
I don’t know if you understand. It was meant to awaken you to the spiritual realities and pray that even though the Devil is Lord over this man, as a relation of his, I plead in Your mercy that You step into His situation and fight, dear Lord of Host. That is the purpose of God bringing that dream. Not for you to start running from pillar to post. Some just mutter some short ‘name and claim’ prayers and a few days after, the man dies. And they cry and ask God questions and say ‘Ah, and I saw it o’. You saw what? You mean the Lord showed you but you couldn’t stop it due to your spiritual laziness, laxity and prayerlessness? Stop being proud to say ‘And I saw it o’. There is nothing to be proud of about your spiritual coldness.
SIGNS THE SPIRIT OF DEATH IS AROUND
The work of the spirit of death is made manifest when you see for instance a young woman, being a faithful wife and mother, whose body is being attacked by deadly cancer, beginning with metastatic breast cancer that spreads to her lungs and to her brain and finally gives up the ghost. God is not the author of this type of death. Jesus paid a high price in full with His blood for the health and well being of that precious woman. That is a premature death and it’s tragic and demonic in every way.
1Peter 5:8 says; “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour .”
The devil is hungry for whom to eat up, but you shall not be his meal in the name of Jesus.
The devil is seeking for whom to devour, but he shall not find you and yours in Jesus’ Name.
May your address be unknown by the spirit of death in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Here are signs you cannot ignore anymore, signs that signal the presence of this evil power for which you must swing into warfare urgently:
- Frequent dreams of death, violence, or being attacked can be a sign.
- Sudden or unexplained health issues that persist despite medical treatment.
- Drastic financial losses or setbacks.
- Overwhelming anxiety or dread related to mortality.
- Seeing shadows, hearing voices, or experiencing eerie sensations.
- Persistent thoughts of self-harm or death.
- Untimely death of family members on a regular basis
- Having multiple miscarriages
- Involvement in an accident or having multiple accidents in a short space of time
- Seeing relatives and other people who are dead in a dream
- Engaging in behaviors and activities that invite death, such as reckless driving, life-threatening sports and other negative habits that display a death wish.
- Persistent dream of death that comes with fear after you have woken up
- Disturbing thoughts about living and life
- Stepping into death occurrence zones unknowingly continually
- Coming in contact with the dead in your dreams always
DEATH CAN BE STOPPED
Psalms 79:11 says; Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You; According to the greatness of Your power preserve those who are appointed to die;
Not every appointment with death is divine. So many of them are satanic, and that is the focus of this prayer today. The Psalmist by revelation understood that there are many walking the streets of life that have already been booked appointment with death, yet most of them don’t know and based on this revelation he cried out. O Lord preserve thou those the spirit of death has booked appointment with!
When you are able to terminate such an appointment, the manifestation will not take root! Once you have entered into serious prayers and fasting to destroy those evil plans of the enemies, the person should not die! It might look as if ‘Oh, I thought you said you had a dream that I died. You see, I didn’t die, stop being afraid’. Oh, well, stop being clueless and be grateful that the Lord has given you an intercessor in your yard. Someone whose hands and fingers have been trained for battles!
The spirit of death can book appointment with someone’s business, children, marriage, organs, ministry, beauty, life etc. It is not usually about terminating the life completely. He can even make the person a complete nuisance, a total walking dead lady for years before the actual death.
CRY OUT:
O God, I terminate every appointment that the Devil has successfully planned against my life and family in the name of Jesus.
You must understand that the devil won’t consult you when he books this appointment, neither will he seek your opinion. He doesn’t care whether it’s convenient for you or not. He doesn’t want to know what happens next after the death has occurred. He simply wants to kill, and that is all.
Proverbs 27:20 says. “Death and the grave are never satisfied…” This means that at every point in time, death desires to have more. Don’t you think that because it has killed father and mother, it would be satisfied and start to pity you. Oh no! If you do not swing into action, he would successfully wipe out the whole family and look away as if he had done nothing, moving to the next family to devour!
DECLARE THESE:
In the name of Jesus, I shall not fall into the killing spree of the enemy. The Devil wouldn’t use me for his lunch. My life is secure in Christ Jesus.
Oh Lord, let every grave that has been prepared for me or my family, waiting to receive me be filled with your fire and closed up completely in Jesus Name.
SACRIFICE AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF DEATH
The sacrifice that you ever need to do to be delivered from the spirit of death has been done and no other sacrifice can suffice! If you like, kill ten bulls, you can only delay the works of the enemies, he will still launch out big against you, sooner or later! The only person through which we can access the Throne of the Father is Christ!
We hide under His Blood and cry out for Divine intervention. We use the precious, sinless, powerful Blood of Christ and our committed relationship with Him to plead for His divine intervention and then, and only then can the King step in!
This is why you must prioritize your relationship with the Lord, maintain the relationship and then daily grow in the knowledge of who you are in Christ. This is how you are trained to war!
WHAT DOES THE LORD SAY ABOUT YOUR LIFE?
Psalms 68:20: Our God is the God of salvation; And to God, the Lord belongs escapes from death.
Psalms 118:17: I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the Lord.
Psalms 91:16: With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
Psalms 121:7-8: The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. 8. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.
Psalms 23:4: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
1 Corinthians 15:55: “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
ROUNDING OFF
What has the Devil declared concerning you? How many people before you has he eaten up? Are you pregnant and you are scared that this one will also fall off like the previous three? Are you pregnant and you keep seeing coffins in your dream? Is your health failing? Has your finances been slain? Has perpetual fear taken a hold of your heart? Do you live under torments everyday? Have you been threatened in any way? Is your dreamland filled with dread and deadly happenings every night and day? Sisters, fear not! ‘…in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37b).
Fear not! God has equipped you with His resurrection power in Christ! That same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives and resides within your very being. And God has given to us this same Spirit so that we can overcome the wiles of the enemy, that serpent of old. Therefore, be bold and strong and courageous! Fight to finish, warrior!
Do not be afraid at all. That was why I took yesterday and July 1st to really take us on a journey through the importance of becoming fighters. You cannot back out now, or you will be a victim!
FEAR NOT VERSES
Isaiah 41:10 says: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
2 Timothy 1:7 says: “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
1 John 4:18 says: “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.”
Psalm 34:4 says “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”
Joshua 1:9 says “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Proverbs 29:25 says “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.”
PRAYER TIME
WORSHIP
Let us take some quality time to worship the Lord for His Word that we have just gone through. Thank Him for the specific revelations that He has given you today. When you are done, move on.
SPIRITUAL SANITATION
Begin to sanitize your life right now. Rid your life of every sins and iniquities with the Blood of Jesus. The Lord does not hear the prayers coming from the mouth of a sinner, but if such confesses and forsakes the sins, the Lord will have mercy, hear and forgive.
ATMOSPHERIC SANITATION
Now, take charge of your environment. Begin to cover where you are now with the Blood of Jesus. Cover yourself with the fire of the Holy Ghost.

O Lord I cancel every legality the devil has against me to interrupt the word of God from being effective in my life thereby enforcing death in the Name of Jesus.
Let every pattern of loss in my life cease now in the name of Jesus.
Eaters of flesh and drinkers of blood I command you to feed on your own flesh and be drunken by your own blood like a sweet wine.
By the power of God I command let every root of mysterious sickness in any part of my body
expire now in the name of Jesus
Continue to pray as the Lord leads you.
NOW TO OUR PRAYER JOURNALS
Let us raise our prayer list to the Lord and tell Him all about our requests. Let us ask the Father in the Name of Jesus to turn those requests into testimonies for us according to His Will in Jesus’ Name. Let us pray fervently on them before we move on.
