Juicy July is around the corner again. It’s not just a fasting and prayer season, sis. It’s a time when God is calling His daughters to come closer, to hear Him clearly, to drop weights, and to collect fire.
But Juicy July is not going to be automatically juicy. It is all about what you are willing to do to access God and get what you want. The power you get from it depends on how intentional you are.
Here are 17 simple, real, and practical ways to prepare and make the most of this powerful season:
1. Create Quiet, Unrushed Time for Prayer
First, understand that prayer works best when your heart is calm and focused. Don’t rush it. Wake up earlier if you have to. Stay up late if you have to.
Find a spot in your home or in a field or classroom, just somewhere cool, where you can be alone with God. Switch off your phone and just sit with your Father. Let Daddy know that you mean business.
2. Cut Down Social Media Time or Go Off Completely
Social media is a major distraction to Koinonia, sis. During Juicy July, try to reduce how much time you spend online. Social media will feed your mind with things that will block you from hearing God when He speaks and gives you instructions.
If you can, take a break completely. Use that time for worship, Bible study, rest, or just being still before God. You’ll be surprised how clearly you begin to hear Him.
3. Invite Your Family and Friends to Join
Don’t do Juicy July alone. Carry your loved ones along. Invite your siblings, your roommate, your friend, colleague. Even your mum, dad, or husband. When people around you are also praying, it becomes easier and sweeter. When your heart burns on a matter, you have people with whom you can share it with and they will understand because they are also in on the process.
Also, you don’t know who needs this season, share the blessing.
4. Stretch Yourself in the Fasting
If you’re used to breaking by 12 noon, try 3pm. If 3pm is your norm, stretch to 6pm. If you usually break at night, you can try a dry fast for a day or two, if your health allows. You can try fruit fast, just take an apple and banana at night for one week etc. Just try something new in disciplining this flesh and letting it understand that you are in control. Don’t stay in your comfort zone. The deeper you go, the more grace you receive. But remember, listen to your body and the Holy Spirit too.
5. Sip Warm Water to Stay Strong
Fasting can come with body weakness, headaches, or dizziness. A bottle of warm water by your side can help. Sip gently when needed, not to satisfy hunger, sis, just to steady yourself so you can enjoy a great time in God’s presence. It helps you go on with strength, especially on dry fast days.
6. Get a Good Headphone and Use It to Focus
Sometimes, the best way to block out distractions is to plug in your ears. Use your headphones for worship songs, prayer audios, or Bible listening. Even if you’re in the room alone, still blocking your ears can help you stay in the Spirit better.
7. Read Your Bible Daily
The Word of God is your food in this season. You can’t go through Juicy July on empty scriptures. Read a chapter or two every day. Meditate. Let God speak to you. Prayer and the Word go hand in hand, they build you from the inside out. Again, treat the Word of God as food and the prayer like the air you breathe.
8. Sleep in the Atmosphere of Prayer
Don’t just sleep after chatting or watching YouTube. End your day in prayers. Play soft worship, talk to God on your bed. Many times, God speaks in dreams and reveals things when your heart is settled. Let your last thoughts be on God. Many people receive dreams, revelations, and divine instructions this way. Let your heart be open even in your sleep.
9. Pray in the Spirit Often (Seek It If You Don’t Have It Yet)
If you’re filled with the Holy Spirit, stir Him up by praying in tongues daily. If you’re not baptized yet, this is a perfect time to seek that gift. It’s your right as a child of God. Praying in the Spirit helps you pray deep prayers you don’t even understand but God does.
10. Join the Daily Bible Study Meetings
There’s a one-hour Bible study every night from 9pm to 10pm (Nigerian Time) on Google Meet. This helps you stay grounded and fed in the Word daily. If you’d love to join, Click here to fill the form. Don’t miss this beautiful opportunity to fellowship with other sisters.
11. Keep a Journal
So much will happen during Juicy July. God will speak. You’ll receive ideas, scriptures, even dreams. Don’t rely on memory, write it down. Get a notebook or download the printable Juicy July journal sheet here. You’ll be glad you did, even long after July ends. Don’t attempt to trust your human mind to remember it all. It is fickle, it can fail.
12. Clean Your Atmosphere
Your environment matters. Sanctify your room, clean it up, and play worship music when you can. Avoid worldly music or shows that dull your spirit. Let your space be a place where God is welcome. Make your home an altar.
13. Give Heartily
Fasting is not just about asking God for things, it’s also about giving. Pray for others. Send small gifts. Bless someone’s day. Support ministry work. Read Isaiah 58 and Psalm 126:6 to understand further more about fasting. Fasting that gives always unlocks deeper blessings. And do it cheerfully!
14. Guard Your Mouth
Don’t waste this season by using your mouth carelessly. Avoid gossip, complaints, arguments, and idle talk. Use your words to bless, to pray, and to speak life. Your mouth is powerful, let it honour God throughout this season.
15. Be at Alert!
The enemy doesn’t like it when you press into God. You might face strange dreams, hard temptations, tiredness, discouragement, or even distractions. Don’t be afraid. This is part of spiritual warfare. Someone will annoy you. It happens. But this is not the time to carry malice. Forgive fast. Don’t let bitterness block your prayers. Let your heart be light and open before God. Stay focused, ask for grace, pick yourself back up, keep praying, and remember, you’re not alone.
16. Don’t Just Be about Results
Don’t just be looking for quick testimonies. The goal is not just to collect blessings. The main goal is to grow closer to God. Enjoy your time with God. Enjoy the worship. Enjoy the tears. Enjoy the silence. Enjoy the answers too.
17. Have Faith
Ask God to help your unbelief. Even when it feels like nothing is happening, keep praying. God is hearing you. The people who got testimonies before you also had dry seasons where it seemed like no one was listening. But when their answers arrived, they knew He’d been listening all along. Don’t give up. Keep believing. Your faith tells God you mean business with Him and you are not in the season to while away time.
