There’s a war raging and it’s not out there in the streets. It’s happening in Christian bedrooms, on phone screens, in the hidden corners of people’s minds. It’s a silent war that’s destroying firebrands, silencing anointed voices, and dragging chosen vessels into secret shame. And the enemy? Sexual Addictions!
Fornication. Pornography. Masturbation. Seductive conversations. Late-night dirty calls. Everything but the act, and sometimes the act itself. It’s happening to the preacher and the pew-warmer, to the choir leader and the usher, to the seemingly spiritual sister and the fiery-tongued brother.
This has become a stronghold in the body of Christ. It is a chain wrapped around destinies. A serpent whispering that everyone is doing it. That you can’t be free. That holiness is out of reach. But today, by the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Ghost, that lie is breaking.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:3–4
Sis, this blog post is not a motivational piece nor is it a list of shallow strategies. It is a call to war. A call to come up higher. A revelation. Oh, I pray the Lord opens your eyes to see, your ears to hear and your spirit to rise!
If you’re tired of rising and falling…
If you’re sick of crying and returning…
If you know deep down that God is calling you out of this pit…
Then brace yourself and let the Sword of His Word in this piece cut through every lie the enemy has sewn into your flesh in Jesus Name. Amen.
SEXUAL ADDICTIONS: PORNOGRAPHY AND MASTURBATION
My focus today are the strongholds of Pornography and Masturbation!
I know there are tons of books and blog posts that have been written about this. I know there are different conferences that have been held, safe spaces created, etc. So many have made a merchandise of your sexual sins, collecting your money to train you on how to be delivered from sin. But do you know why all these things have not proven to work? I’d tell you.
The reason is the same as why marriage is still not understood by so many people in the church today despite all the conferences and books they’ve read. Marriage is spiritual! Conquering a sin is spiritual!
“The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him… because they are spiritually discerned.”— 1 Corinthians 2:14
You cannot master these arts in the flesh! Romans 8 gives a number of verses to this end. Your flesh cannot do righteousness. It wants to—but there is no ability there.
7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” — Romans 7:18 (KJV)
Look at the Law. As good as the law was, it couldn’t deliver Moses from the flesh. It couldn’t save Samson from sexual sins. It couldn’t deliver even David from lust.
Romans 8: 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
Hey, sis, that exactly was why Jesus came! To save us from sins!
“And you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”— Matthew 1:21 (NKJV)
To save from is different from to forgive of sins. Forgiveness was what God did in the Old Testament. Almost as soon as the offender was cleansed, he could jump right into the sin again and would need blood to wipe that darkness away just so God could be able to see him again. Yes, that’s what sin does, it literally builds a very high building between you and God.
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you.”— Isaiah 59:2 (NIV)
So, God wants to deliver, He can’t. He wants to save, He can’t! That was, in essence, why Jesus came. Jesus did not come so that we can use His blood for repetitive forgiveness again like it was done in the Old Testament. He came so that we can now have a complete salvation from sins. To draw us out from it!
Yeah, so, it is very possible to be delivered from that addiction. Don’t think it is not.
“Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus says the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered…”— Isaiah 49:24–25
TWO LIES THE DEVIL WILL ALWAYS WANT YOU TO BELIEVE:
- Everyone is doing it: That’s not true. Not everyone in the church is into addictions. Oh yes, I can tell you that for free so it saves you from a false consolation.
- You can’t be free: Like what? That’s literally Satan’s voice.
“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”— John 8:32
You can be free! If you were under the law, you couldn’t. If you’re still using the blood of Jesus as a forgiveness ritual, you can’t be free. But if you allow Him give you the product of the Cross, the very reason why He came, then you can be free. Oh yes!
That product is Grace. The Spirit of Grace. The Holy Spirit! That’s the grace of God. That’s the strength of God. That’s the ability of God!
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”— 2 Corinthians 12:9
Without Him, you cannot resist sin—for long!
I once knew a guy who always comforted his mum that he was a moral boy. He wouldn’t drink or smoke or sleep around. He just didn’t want to be religious and follow Christ. That gave his mum a kind of consolation. Like, Ma, this is not good! This is a red light. Just a few months down the line, the guy, though he meant well, was in the depths of all the different sins now.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”— Proverbs 14:12
For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will — Romans 8:7
No good dwells in this flesh. Unless you rise into the Spirit, sin will always defeat. Just one blow and you’d be back where you said you’d never be anymore. You need the Holy Spirit. And hey, contrary to what many have believed, the Holy Spirit can come to you now! You don’t have to wait till you are ‘clean’ before He comes in.
“While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.”— Acts 10:44
What “clean” can you achieve without the Spirit, actually?
Where did you see in the Scriptures that the apostles said people should be clean first before the Holy Spirit can come?
Yes, the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in a dirty place. No, He can’t.
That was why Jesus first shed His blood.
“How much more shall the blood of Christ… purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”— Hebrews 9:14
Believe in Him, surrender, and dip yourself in the Blood for a total cleansing bath. That’s it! As soon as you have been born again, you are habitable for the Holy Spirit.
Oh yes!
Any other cleanliness you’re trying to achieve outside the Blood of Christ or the Holy Spirit will fall through! It will fail!
Romans 8 reveals that it is through the Holy Spirit that we can actually live the life of righteousness.
So, I can put it to you, dear sister, that your problem is the Holy Spirit. Either you haven’t allowed Him in, or He’s in but you don’t allow Him lead!
The Holy Spirit hasn’t come to be added to your box, He’s come to lead you to become like Christ, to control you! To possess you! To influence you!
Romans 8 continues to say:
4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.
5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit
12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.
You can’t box Him in and wonder why you’re being defeated. You’d be a defeated Christian constantly until you say yes to the government of the Holy Spirit!
SEXUAL ADDICTIONS: THE BEAUTY AND TRAP OF CONFESSION
One of the traps I’ve seen and heard naïve ladies fall into lately is confessing to people here and there. They said if you confess it up and down, you’d be free. They quote:
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed…”— James 5:16 (KJV)
Yes, confession to one another is good. If the Lord leads you to very spiritual people, (same sex as you) who can pray with you and constantly redirect you back to the Holy Spirit, that’d be fine. But not to wolves in sheep’s clothing!
Any form of confession to any man should always be secondary. Your main confession must be to your Good Father every single time. It’s Him alone who can truly cleanse and deliver you. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that airing your sins to people will break your chains. That’s just human weakness looking for comfort in the wrong places.
Appropriate the Blood of Jesus repeatedly over any sin that tries to hold you captive, whether it’s anger, bitterness, lust, disobedience, or any hidden malice in your heart. These are all serious sins that demand the same fiery hatred from you. There is no “small sin” when it comes to bondage. Every sin that contaminates your spirit must be hated enough to be confessed, renounced, and nailed to the Cross of Christ until it loses its power.
Ask yourself: Do you hate your malice sin so much that you confess it to people around you? Maybe you don’t even confess it to God! So, you esteem it a little sin to be hidden? Expose that to God! Let’s learn to daily expose ourselves to the Lord so He can reveal anything dark and gray to us. Then, we open our mouths and confess them to God. We have a direct access to our Father now, we don’t need middle men! People are quick to confess “big sins” like sexual immorality but keep bitterness, envy, pride, or unforgiveness tucked away as if they are harmless. Those “hidden” sins are just as deadly and need the same confession and deliverance. And you don’t need to confess to man to be free, confess first to God! Love God enough, trust Him enough to stay in His presence and soak Him in, explain things to Him, ask for His strength! Do you do this confession first before going to people?
Confession isn’t just about spilling out what you’ve done wrong; it’s about an ongoing, passionate fight against every sin that tries to live in you. When you confess to God, you’re aligning your heart with His holiness, crying out for His cleansing fire to burn away every trace of that sin. That’s real confession. That’s the confession that leads to real freedom.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”— 1 John 1:9
Make your confession to the Father first and foremost. Then, if you have trusted, mature, Spirit-filled believers to confess to, that can be a support, but never replace your personal, direct confession to God. Because it is only His Blood that truly cleanses.
Sis, we live in a coach-obsessed age, a mentor-obsessed age, a spiritual-father-obsessed age. Everywhere you turn, there’s someone claiming to be your “guide,” your “deliverer,” your “spiritual authority.” And honestly, this obsession has morphed into an idolatry. People have shifted their trust from God Himself to flesh and blood leaders. This opens a dangerous door — and the devil knows it. He’s been taking full advantage of this spiritual misplaced loyalty.
SEXUAL ADDICTIONS: THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
In the Bible, almost as soon as people got born again, they received the Holy Spirit. I mean, in the same hour! Oh yes!
Because what’s the point of getting born again if you still don’t have power? Without the Holy Spirit, you’d live a frustrated Christian life!
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” — 2 Timothy 3:5
Without the Holy Spirit, you’d be a Pharisee. Pretentious. Struggling. Frustrated. Lost on how to navigate the Christian life. You seriously need God living in you to overcome sin! You need God living in you to be holy and to become like Jesus.
The Holy Spirit comes into us to make us like Jesus. It’s not that we become like Jesus first, and then the Holy Spirit comes. No! We allow Him to come in, and then He molds us into Jesus’ shape!
Just look at the Scriptures: Cornelius, the 4000 at Pentecost, those Paul asked if they had received the Holy Spirit since they believed. As soon as they were introduced to the truth, the baptism of the Holy Spirit happened instantly!
“Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?” — Acts 19:2
The Holy Spirit is never meant to be your empowerment for service alone. Never! He is your empowerment for living!
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name
Even Peter, yes, Peter, failed woefully after he denied Jesus, despite the sincere brotherly love he had for Him. Jesus couldn’t help him then. But I believe that as their eyes met after that denial, Peter became one of the reasons Jesus raced to the Cross.
Because if proximity to Jesus and sincere love for Jesus couldn’t deliver Peter, then what makes you think going to church, sowing seeds, or feeling emotional love for God will deliver you?
Jesus told the disciples it was expedient, important, very essential, that He should go away. Otherwise, the Holy Spirit wouldn’t come!
“But I tell you the truth, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” — John 16:7
Without power, Peter failed woefully. His love was proven too little in the face of trials.
But when power came—ahhhh! Peter became something else!
That is what I’m talking about.
SEXUAL ADDICTION: THE INSIDE-OUT ENERGY
It’s not about rubbing balm over your infected site. That hasn’t worked for long. Take the antibiotic pills inside and watch how the infection on the outside disappears!
“Cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.”— Matthew 23:26
It is an inside-out energy!
Stop seeking a lazy man’s route to deliverance from sexual addictions.
Simply surrender to the Lord and ask the Holy Spirit to come.
It doesn’t take long. It shouldn’t take long at all.
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”— Matthew 7:7
Sis, do you believe that God wants to give you the gift of the Holy Spirit? Do you truly believe that the Holy Spirit isn’t a luxury, reserved only for the ultra-spiritual and fiery-tongued? That He’s not only for prophets and pastors, but for every blood-washed child of God, including YOU?
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” — Luke 11:13
Yes, the Holy Spirit is a gift. Not a wage. Not a reward. Not something you “grow into.” A gift! And how do we receive gifts? By believing. By asking. And by opening our hands.
But before you ask, pause and check your motive. Why do you want the Holy Spirit? Do you want Him so you can have goosebumps during worship? So you can be respected as “deep”? Or do you want Him because you’re tired of living in the flesh, tired of being a slave to sin, and you desperately want to live like Jesus?
“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.” — James 4:3
Get that motive right, and then… ask! Not casually. Not passively. Not religiously. Ask like someone drowning and crying for breath! Ask like someone whose very life depends on this outpouring! Because it does!
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” — Matthew 5:6
“Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3
The issue is faith. Not your background. Not your mistakes. Not your weakness. Faith.
So, hold tightly to the Word of the Lord. Hold on to these verses. Meditate on them. Declare them out loud. Refuse to be moved by your feelings. Let your faith rise higher than your shame. Higher than your doubts. Higher than your past. He said He would come, and He will come!
“He who promised is faithful.” — Hebrews 10:23
And as soon as He comes, don’t sit down, sis!
Don’t treat Him like one exciting church experience and then return to the flesh. Jump into a relationship with Him immediately!
Talk to Him. Listen to Him. Let Him guide your prayers. Let Him show you what’s in your heart. Obey Him, instantly. Let Him clean out the junk room by room. Let Him rearrange your life. Let Him lead.
He didn’t come to be locked in the spare room. He came to own the house.
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” — 1 Corinthians 3:16
So many are filled with the Holy Spirit but treat Him like a guest. No. You’re the temple. He’s not visiting. He’s dwelling. Let Him dwell richly.
I guess I really do need to write a full blog post soon titled: “Now That the Holy Spirit Has Come.” Because too many people receive Him… and then leave Him idle. Follow our WhatsApp channel so you’ll know when that and many more Spirit-filled resources drop.
But sis, you don’t have to wait for that post. Start today.
ROUNDING OFF
Let me tie this up neatly. First things first: don’t let the devil deceive you into thinking everyone is secretly battling sexual sin. That’s a lie. Not everyone is struggling. So, stop using “everyone’s doing it” as a cushion. Stop making room for a lie that has caged you for too long. It’s not true, and believing it only makes you settle into sin comfortably.
And listen: you’re not too far gone. That’s another lie from the pit of hell. You can be delivered, no matter how far you’ve fallen or how long you’ve been entangled. God asked Sarah in Genesis 18:14, “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” The answer is no. Absolutely nothing. I’ve seen the Holy Spirit burn off addictions, break long-standing habits, crush generational curses, heal rotten character, and sanctify stubborn flesh. Is it this sexual addiction that would now be too hard for Him? Never! Take that burden to Him. Open up the sin to Him. Stop managing the rot. Don’t let shame stop your healing. Let the Holy Spirit come in and do what only He can do.
SEXUAL ADDICTION: YOU’RE A THREAT, WOMAN!
Sis, do you know who you are? You are a woman. Sis, do you even know who you are? You’re not just a woman, You are a fire-starter, a deliverer, a voice that can shake kingdoms. A womb-man. A partner with the Lord to crush the Head of the serpent! Like Deborah, villages can cease to function until you arise in your calling.
Judges 5:7 says, “The inhabitants of the villages ceased… until I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.” That’s who you are. That’s why the devil is fighting you, sis. Your arising terrifies him. There’s a reason the enemy is after you. He’s not chasing you just because you look pretty or because you’re emotionally vulnerable. No. He’s after your mantle. He’s after your glory, your destiny, your womb, your impact, your calling, your voice, your fire! That’s why he’s trying to distract you, entice you, entangle you and silence you. But today, you must rise. Arise like the lioness God made you to be. Arise and roar back. Isaiah 60:1 says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” Arise and take your place.
Let me tell you what most don’t: God is interested in dirty people, if they run to Him. He doesn’t want actors. He wants runners. He wants those who fall and get up again and again until they are walking in the Spirit. If you fall, don’t be like a stubborn, unreasonable child who hides from the very One who wants to save her. Don’t wallow in shame, guilt, or self-pity. Run to your Father immediately. Cry out for the Holy Spirit again and again until you master the art of obedience to His voice. The Holy Spirit will always lead you away from sin and temptation. But if you keep resisting Him, you will keep delaying your victory. Hebrews 3:15 says, “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts…” Don’t postpone obedience. Don’t silence conviction.
You must become an active Christian, not in activities and church roles alone, but in your private altar, your prayer room, your spiritual discipline. The devil is not afraid of your church programs; he’s afraid of your prayer life, your secret fasting, your fiery intimacy with God. You’re active on WhatsApp groups, but are you active on your knees? You’re singing on the stage, but are you singing warfare songs in your bedroom? Streamline your life, sis. Get rid of spiritual noise and focus on building real fire. Spend time praying in the Spirit alone. Purge your phone of pseudo-Christian music with seductive beats. Take prayer walks. Speak out loud when temptation whispers. Saturate yourself with eternity-centered sermons. Build a life the devil can’t tamper with.
And yes, it’s completely normal to feel sexual. You’re a woman. If you don’t feel sexual, something might actually be wrong. But maturity is knowing that just because you feel hungry doesn’t mean you break your fast. As a single lady, how did I overcome? When I feel funny, I speak to myself out loud: “Ah yes, we’ve got some more waiting to do. You won’t destroy my life or destiny.” Then I wear proper clothes, tighten them up, go on a walk, jump around, or divert my thoughts. I don’t just sit there hoping the temptation will leave. I speak. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Speak against it. Declare your consecration. Say out loud what is at stake.
If you’ve already been filled with the Holy Spirit, don’t waste it. Pray in tongues at will. Don’t wait for goosebumps. Stir your spirit. Build momentum. Feed your spirit with eternity-focused sermons. Get addicted to the Word. Be intentional. Be intense. Refuse to let Satan play with your destiny. James 4:7 says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Not might flee. He will flee. But if you don’t resist, he’ll play you like a toy and then drop you in disgrace. So don’t just win today and forget to pray tomorrow. Spiritual victory is a daily walk, a daily fire, a daily obedience. Feed your spirit daily and the flesh will lose its grip.
And if you fall again, hate that fall so much that you run into God’s arms with tears and surrender. Don’t excuse it. Don’t explain it away. And please, don’t let pride delay your deliverance. That “A whole me?” mindset is a prison. Pride can never defeat sin. A sin can never deliver you from another sin. James 4:6 says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Grace flows downward. Mercy flows downward. Rain falls downward. If you want it, go low. Humble yourself and be drenched.
Ask the Lord to help you hate sin. Pray for holy hatred. Because that’s where deliverance starts. You haven’t been delivered yet because you still like the pleasure. You hate the aftertaste, but not the act itself. You cry because of the guilt, not because of the grief you caused God. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you divine hatred for sin, the kind that makes your flesh revolt when tempted. Only the Spirit can give that kind of hatred. It’s not born from willpower; it’s born from fire within.
Isaiah 61:1 says, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings… to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
Sis, the Spirit is upon you, too. The same anointing that raised Jesus from the dead can raise you out of this pit.
A strong woman is not one who never feels temptation. It’s the one who says a vehement NO to herself, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by that same power, you can!
CONCLUSION
So now, sis, what are you going to do with this?
Sit on it? Feel good reading it? Cry a little and scroll to the next thing? No! This is not one of those “feel something and move on” moments. This should be a divine interruption. A call from the throne. A summon to rise and wage war against what has caged you for too long!
“Awake, awake! Put on strength, O arm of the Lord! Awake as in the days of old, the generations of long ago…”— Isaiah 51:9
Let today be the last day hell toys with your destiny. Let today be the day you say, “Enough is enough.” Let this be the moment you drop the sin and pick up the sword.
No more passive Christianity. No more bondage wrapped in Christian activity.
It’s time to become dangerous to the kingdom of darkness again.
Cry out for the Holy Spirit. Not just to comfort, but to conquer. Not just to dwell, but to dominate.
He’s not waiting for your perfection. He’s waiting for your surrender.
“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.”- Psalm 34:18
So get up from the mud, sis. Shake the dust off your mantle. Refuse to go another day with chains on your hands while holding a Bible in the other. You were made for fire. Made for power. Made to overcome.
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit…”— Jude 1:20
And don’t just walk away from this post like you never saw it. Save it. Print it. Pray through it. Share it with someone who’s been too ashamed to speak.
Then fall on your knees and cry out for the Holy Spirit of fire.
And when He comes?
Don’t cage Him.
Let Him take over.
